DD XL Frontline Hammock - First Setup and Impressions

- Hi everyone,
I recently got my hands on some cracking new gear, sold to me by a friend on Instagram. I managed to get a full starter kit: DD XL Frontline hammock, DD 4.5 x 3 metre Tarp, DD underblanket and snakeskin, and it had already been adapted with tree huggers and whoopie slings!
The last time I tried hammocking was about 14 years ago while out in Thailand... And those were simple net-style affairs with no shelter, no nothing, so this slightly more advanced setup was going to take a little getting used to and a bit of fine tuning.
After a fair bit of faffing, I got to chill out for an hour or so and have a brew in my new bed away from home... Really looking forward to taking this out properly soon!
A big thanks to @ChiefScout_Outdoors letting me purchase this brilliant kit!
Thanks for watching!

Welcome to the hammock world buddy they are awesome
I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this! I don't have to worry about flat ground! 🤣
i have mine paired with a dd3x3 tarp and love it....been using it for about 4 years now
Great video James, great effort on the first attempt mate, hammock camping is great with an underquilt this time of year and you have a really good hammock too. Really looking forward to the next video mate, crack on!!😂
Cheers Paul! I did go out that evening in the end) another video down the line) and took the under quilt... Was so warm, slept all the way through! 🙏💚
What temps do you put it on....In Australia, Queensland, but winter gets down to zero some nights so chilly if not ridiculous. Thanks in advance!
Another great video mate 👌
Thanks mate 👍
Great video there James, your extra comments made me chuckle! You did well working it all out. I have never used a hammock. I know about needing two trees, but that's all ;) Cheers, Warren
That was pretty much my starting point as well! 🤣
For the first time, I think you nailed it 😊👊🔥
The added whoopie slings make it a 1000 times easier than the DD offerings
What a cracking looking woods you got there.
I’ll have to join ya very soon 😊👍🌳
Thanks for the shoutouts
See ya soon 😊👊🔥
Tidy setup there matey , love a hammock , just gotta luxury feel about it and loads of space , nice one 👍
Thanks mate, it truly is the Hilton of hammocks! (didn't get room service though...) 🤣
great info never stop learning and have fun
Thank you! 👍🏻
Outstanding
I've never tried a hammock, I keep holding off, mostly due to cost and the need for extras like a quilt and a tarp to keep the rain off. Just subbed.
Cheers chap! I had been holding off as well, it was only as @chiefscout_outdoors had put the set up on here to sell, at a very good price... I was the first responder! 🙏💚
Its a good hammock, I love mine. With the underblanket on its a great winter option.
I bet! I went out for an actual camp with it the other evening (a future video), and used the underblanket and my flames creed quilt, I was roasting... It'll be perfect for winter camping. 👌

@@gregeberhardt1711 any time its below 10c overnight, or if its windy.
Thx….exactly what I was after
Liked it, James. A bit old style Jolly Jack Tar! A good tip of yours for small items - mark the little buggers! I put a foot length of paracord on all of my tent pegs. Makes them easier to pull out, easier to see if you drop one and easier to pick up with a litter picker if you can't bend down properly.
Since that happened everything I could possibly lose has now got one of those tags! Was out last night and they came in handy then! 🙏💚
I'll be out in mine 2mrw night can't wait
I'd forgotten how comfortable hammocks are. Have a good time tomorrow! 👍🏻
