As a guy who has moved a lot of dirt in the last 30 years, that is a really weird trench. It's missing a berm, so the dirt was hauled off. It doesn't have an edge road so they only worked on the area where they where removing material. They would also need massive infrastructure to remove water from the cut. And that's not even getting into how they are keeping the sides from sluffing off.
Yes, I know it is dumb to put that much thought into something the writers didn't spend that much thought on.

That's been my idea for a while.
Beale goes on a global hunt for the survivors that have survived in places thought to be hostile to the living, the US would not be called hostile as survival is on easy mode there.
Each team member has been hand picked for being ruthless and intelligent, Beale is creating an A Team to visit various labs around the world to retreave data and samples in search for the rumoured preventative.
Each member is being blackmailed into going where his troops refuse to go, Beale captured family to get his way.
Each episode would not be the same, some would show the labs and their research including variants while showing off a weekly build to defeat a variant, while other episodes are more relaxed and set in the prison where they're held (in full restraints: straight jacket, hand mits, handcuffs, leg shackles and Hannibal Lector mask) these help flesh out the characters, continue other stories and provide some comedy.
Eventually the data and samples help create a preventative to stop people becoming walkers, even when bitten, while providing a true explanation of the origins and how it was released.

Tales didn't actually retcon Alpha forming the Whisperers. It worked into the timeline pretty well. Alpha and Lydia were banished by Hera. Then they met Beta in 10×2. Then came back and with the help of Beta killed all the Whisperers. Alpha made a mask out of Hera's face and founded the Whisperers we see in the show. She did found them. She simply didn't COME UP with their idea herself. And anyone who could contradict her story of "I made the Whisperers" is dead. So....they did this one pretty smart

I'd personally like to see what their world looks like 100 years out. What lessons did society learn? How did tech advance during that time? What changes happened in how society handles disease and death? Is there a new system of government established? What nations exist? I can't imagine the United States is back, but I could see a bunch of smaller nations forming from the old US, probably centered around major settlements that eventually became cities.
I have a feeling humanity bounced back, and probably stronger than before.

The timeline is already pretty confusing to me and if I’m following Tales of the walking dead, it makes it even worse to figure out😂 the writers were probably intending on this episode being taken 35 years into the outbreak considering how big the “dead sector” was if that’s the case, where the hell is the CRM? No way they would let a whole sector of dead roam around with all those resources. It’s all a can of worms😅 I still enjoyed your explanation and liked the comic ending nod too because that ending took place about 25 years into the future that we got our boy Carl Grimes in😭 but can’t wait until your next explanation video!

I gotta watch this one again..I'm leading toward it either not being 35 years in..or non-canonical.
Does Amy mention anything about herself as a child?
Or anything that suggests she's familiar with a pre Monument Day world?
    An old show. School. Sports.
Because how old do you all think she is approximately?
I'd put her at 35 max.
    Even as young as 27.
Suggesting her entire life has been post-apocalyptic if this takes place around 35 years in.
So if there's any old world reference that put her having lived in that world, it would debunk this being 35 years after the virus infected the world.

Theory: Her and her group are wanted/on the run. Believing that no one would be dumb enough to go into that zone they could've thought it'd be possible to survive there. While dumb as hell because you'd need to make a noticeable location to feed, house, and defend the inhabitants. Unless they formed walls/trenches around their settlement and constantly kept guard, they'd eventually fall. But yeah, outlaws trying to hide and figuring leo's of that time wouldn't dare enter that zone. But that falls apart at points and eh. But it's an interesting theory. Or perhaps they are these "skull hunters" we hear about.

I've been reading and writing fanfic for over 15 years and it has never been as bad as whatever the hell FEAR decided to do after the reboot, LMAO. And I'm glad to have skipped out on Tales of The Walking Dead because apparently, it's got the same problems. After listening to this video, I'm gonna unfortunately quote RiceGum and say that the whole series is irrelevant because it flopped due to all of the supension of disbelief being used up with the main shows/spinoffs. Scott Gimple pulled a Scott Cawthon and retconned the whole 35 year thing away and honestly? We're better off for it. Also, someone better check on ol' girl who blabbed. Is she okay?

Any regular medium sized predator could EASILY take down a walker and if there too many, they just would avoid them ._. , and herbivores too, like, a deer would just look at a walker and either attack it and pretty much kill it or just leave it there, walkers are too slow . . .

For timeline purposes, it's easy to take the reason for her position being so weak on it as "it's in the future, maybe UP TO 35 years later." Once more writing was done with main line shows, it's probably best to take some years off this and figure that more concrete storytelling has moved it up.
If he was isolated 10 years, let's assume that it's after his buddy died, meaning he had 2 seperate isolations, with the second being of note due to it's length, especially if the couple of years mentioned was a vague sense of time and not literally 2. A total isolation of 10 years basically kills this idea being in the official timeline, so I think this is mandatory.
So here are my thoughts on a proper spot in the timeline based solely on evidence you gave, with the goal being to set it in the future in a way that makes some sense. The doctor and his team work for 2 or 3 years before giving up and drift apart for 3 to 5 more years years. We are now 5 to 8 years in. The other guy comes back and lasts 1 to 2 years, so 6-10 years into the series. He is then isolated for 10 years, putting the timeline at 16-20 years past the start of the series.
If the CRM is reformed at 14 years in, takes 3 years to better organize and get things rolling and ends up with a plan to push the dead back and dig a trench that could leave 3 years to get to that plan completed.
This kind of explains the headhunters who use the dead zone as a close by and well stocked option for heads, be it for research (maybe brains are needed for vaccine studies hence the price onnheads and the removal of the dead weight for transportation) or maybe something random like you suggested.
It would also make sense for the new settlers to arrive at this time since it would likely be around the time their relatively nearby area was fully brought into government territory, and they have decided to remain free. Americans are historically quite independent and those who survived the initial years and claimed land, even land surrounded by zombies wouldn't all be happy to go back to paying taxes and relying on representation by elected officials who may be from their region but not their community.
And it could be that this is a traveling group of malcontents who over their trek picked up more members instead of a whole town who moved away (a fully committed town seems more likely to have stood their ground, whereas a few complainers from here and there would probably lose in local votes to join then leave when they didn't get their way. A few settlements with close ties each have a dozen people who do this and they now have maybe 50 people, especially if they get more on the way who meet them, hear their story, and decide that this is their chance to escape the return of an unwelcome government, further expanding them.
And I can't remember if they were headhunters as well, but if they were playing the dual role of disgruntled settlers and bounty hunters for the same government they wouldn't live under, that still makes sense. A lot of people find it easy to make deals with people that they otherwise dislike or disagree with as long as the money is good. Money that would fund their new settlements since they have chosen to pick a place where they are surrounded by one of the last major pockets of zombies on the east coast and at the same time physically cut off from anyone who would even be crazy enough to come in for trade due to the trench. Basically, a bunch of "don't tread on me" prepper types who got used to the last man on earth mentality they grew accustomed to.
It's likely that I left holes here and there as I stopped following the series years ago due to fatigue of it all, but I still follow along with recaps like yours, and kept up with the comics in the same way. Adding another 2-5 years to my estimate, even if it starts to stretch what was already sounding like some vague hand waiving estimates, would probably make this even easier to accept since 16 years into the apocalypse seems unlikely with where we seem to be at the end of the newest shows. But going much past 25 years seems unlikely as well, especially since the doctor probably wasn't so young at the start that he wouldn't be pushing 70 or 80 if we went much past that, especially if we accepted 35 years once more killing that idea.

Fairly certain any walkers over a few years turned would not exist as the brain would completely rot hence no walkers. AMC just don't know what they're doing. The main show being cancelled like it was, is still really weird, if it was just a kneejerk reaction to covid, then that really showcases their mismanagement that was seen best by ftwd's reboot.
Gimple probably had a big plan for the universe, but then the main show was cancelled so there wasn't a clear place for everything to collide and he just decided to scrap it. Daryl Dixon is the main show now but that focus seems to be on variants.

I mean in theory if I was escaping from walkers who only move directly over land by walking rather slowly then making a large trench where all people need to do is get to the other side via anything from plane to rope bridge is probably going to be a good solution and I will take the planks to the first steps onto the bridge with me as I get on (roll em up and roll em out) or I would swing across the dang thing if I had to. What did it look like in the beginning is more what I am interested in because there was probably a use for it? With the herd sizes mentioned in TOWL I was like "they are going to need to fill the Grand Canyon with walkers" by leading them off a cliff. Killing one by one is incredibly slow and energy consuming.

So I'm not even sure if the episodes are considered canon to the universe. Regardless my guess on the giant trench is that it was created to lead the giant hordes of walkers of the edge. This could be the best way to eliminate the massive amount of hordes that are out there. Similar to the end of The Whisper arc and how they defeated Betas horde. I’m clueless as to how or when the giant trench was dug.
I wonder, though, if what’s “worse” outside the dead sector is either variant walkers or other walker-borne illnesses like what Beale mentioned. Maybe the walkers inside the dead sector aren’t infected with either the variant walker virus or the other walker borne disease(s).
For the skull-hunters, we see in Daryl Dixon that the scientists making the variant walker serum use a Walker head in a jar somehow for that process. Maybe that process requires a non-variant walker’s head and those are hard to come by outside the dead sector. (This is presuming that madam Gene somehow attacks the US/sends her variants to the US)
Either that or some organization needs these non-variant walkers to work on a cure.

What made the webisodes in previous years fun is how it always linked back to some minor thing or unexpected way to the mothership. That was lacking in Tales and it didnt feel grounded. The episode with Terry Crews clearly suggested they traveled through or very near Columbus & Toledo, OH. But, somehow they managed to totally miss the Commonwealth. What?!? Or, the awful episode with the ghosts could've been revealed as a really trippy dream for Liza (FTWD) after a long shift at the military hospital.

I been binge watching seasons like season 8 was so much better then real time. I notice also in recap videos that everything is recycled. Rick became Shane. Rick made Gareth kneel, the cops in Atlanta etc Negan made Rick kneel. Elton the smart kid in world beyond also said humans silk be wiped out in 15 years. Then Beale tells Rick that. I'm gonna say 15 years maybe. Not 35. Tales was awful except for Alpha episode and I really liked episode 2. I know it was little crazy but the way I interpret that is the main characters became walkers and we were seeing a person's brain transition into a walker. The end their clothing looked like walkers and they limped like walkers. Plus the familiarity with each other is why they walked together. Idk I just want more Rick and CRM back. Great videos brother. But the rest other then maybe the PPP card will be dropped unless they do next generation with RJ( who is awful) then we will be 35 years in which by then we won't be watching

I don't think this episode takes place 35 years after Monument Day. I know that I already mentioned this in the poll, but it is highly unlikely that Dr. Everett and his colleagues were studying the dead for 26 years before being overrun by Walkers or people. If something were to happen to them, it would have happened much sooner.
With 26 years under his belt, Dr. Everett would probably have more knowledge about Walkers than their migration patterns. In World Beyond, the CRM scientists had already discovered ways to slow down the "resurrection" process so that it would be easier to kill them before they turned.
There are a lot of "problems" with TWD universe, so who knows? For example, how has nobody built up immunity from the virus this many years into the outbreak?
Surely, at some point, somebody would just die and stay dead? What about people who died shortly before the outbreak happened? Nobody mentioned people rising from their graves. So there was an exact day when people got infected from the virus?

Hot Take: Merle didn't kill Garjulio when he shot him. He merely left his physical form behind as his soul was sent into the future so that he could possess the body of a random hoo-hah you've never met and then single handedly dug the trench. It was all apart of the Govenor's plan and sent Merle, Garjulio, and a couple weaklings likely to be sworded in a plot to ensure Merle could properly send Garjulio to the future without villainizing Merle any further.
Sensing Merle's new friends didn't like him. The Govenor selflessly sends Merle to the future as well presumably to help Garjulio and save Merle from his group of bullys
Narrator: Garjulio wakes up in the future to the sound of a bird before carrying out the mission of a lifetime.
Once the trench was finished Merle and Garjulio finish the trench and the camera pans to a scene where they stand over it victoriously. Merle looks to Garjulio with pride and pats him on the shoulder. "You come along pretty quickly there kid."

i think skullhunters and amys faction are both trying to clearing the dead sector to settle, and maybe the dead sector has been so isolated for so long that it has maybe a few thousand in comparison to the billions of walker population of the rest of the united states, but the researchers (i believe) were a part of crm in a scientific division focused on deciphering why walkers wander even when theres no noise, probably as a way to find a pattern to their migration and use that knowledge to move high density settlements and supply lines and afterwards further decimate the walker population withouty a serious loss of life seeing as a loss of life in the hands of walkers will just add to their numbers, studying the walker migration patterns also has a lot to do with hunting as they already discussed, animals fear and avoid walkers, track the apex predator and you'll find their prey. the crm disbanding this division of research also makes sense as the CRM becomes more of a military presence than scientists as the years go by and faith in a cure is lost and a more practical solution of "just fucking killing walkers while not adding to their numbers" is finally made first priority, technological advancements are made only when they're killing machines or armor, while settlements that (according to the crm) are just going to end up adding to the walker population, but cant be added to the crm as they cannot be supported with supplies so they need to be killed.
i really loved this episode because it reminds me so much of the book world war z, it really feels like it could be a part of the world there, it does make sense but it definitely stands out from the rest of the walking dead

Yeah they need a full restart and story for TWD. New directors, characters, story, company, etc.

When General Beale brought about there only 14 years left because of the walkers and the people plus the diseases and the food. If you really think about it if this takes 35 years then wouldn’t the walkers be dead or hard to find? It’s confusing to me but I did get excited about the 35 years into the apocalypse but now watching this it’s kind of hard to believe.

The disease though incomplete is well made and the more the walkers eat the more they regenerate.

Yeah... the scale of the trench to me is what really makes it confusing. Considering the state of the world.. the width and depth of the trench.. the fact that it looks like it was more or less made via equipment and not actual human hands/shovels. They would of had to of brought a shit ton of equipment with them AND the personnel to protect both the equipment and the workers operating them while they were doing it. It would of been a massive undertaking even if the walkers never existed that is a multi-year project. It would of been hundreds if not thousands of personnel.
So why even bother if you can provide that number of people and have the equipment, it would make more sense to just hunt down the dead instead of bottling them up.
