A American being Saluted by pure German armed forces and citizens at the command of one of the most feared men of all time. In the biggest national monument they have, in the capital of the world. In the weird, wicked and twisted world thats the high castle.. thats argueably the biggest medal he could have ever wanted.
The whole show it's pretty clear that there is a John Smith somewhere behind the blank face, a John Smith who hates this, and is only acting for his family. A John Smith not only he can really find.

I think the show makes it pretty clear that John Smith is dead. Despite everything Smith loves the power Nazism bring him, it protects his family more true but with each vile act he reinforces both Nazism and his own power. By the end he could not stop because he’s become relient on the system to protect his family and his power.

I interpreted his expression differently. He sees his father being publically honored by half the planet for doing his duty and so made his mind up that he must also do his "duty" and turn himself in. He was convicted of what was "right" by his father being held on such a high pedastal by his once enemies.
Which makes it more tragic as it's the last thing John wants for him.

They made Himmler a lot shorter than he was. In real life he was about 5'9 a bit above average for the era. Yet here he's almost a midget. I understand artistic license but still it sticks out too much that he's short. Nevermind the fact that he's also far older(the actor was well into his 70s) than he would have been. Himmler should have had an actor aged 55-70 not mid 70s. He's too obviously old.
You do realize as you get older you shrink, you don’t just stay the same height when your an adult forever, it all comes down to genetics
@@s0what1mdead You do lose some height but you don't lose a lot of it. You don't go from 5'9 to 5'6. Especially if you're not working in some heavy lifting field. Also Himmler here would be early 60s not late 80s to justify this much height loss. There are plenty of photos of him in his early 40s which show a guy reasonably in shape. To assume that he goes from that to borderline midget in what are less that 20 years. Eh

Besides, he speaks more natural German in War room scene, this is his nazi-speech style. John Smith went from literally starving to death with his family and friends after WW2, to this, that was the most unrealistic scenario. On top of that he didn't know when to stop when he got to rule by himself the American Reich, and doubled down to bring extermination camps in the west coast. I thought he would be redeemed, but his actions shown he got fully commited to the party's ideas.
