I am sure there are guys who have never touched a spray gun but have watched tons of videos on how to do it right that replied. Bruce said he learned from the replies, to bad he didn't learn before he painted his truck. Brennon Townsend There’s over 189,000 active auto body techs on the books, likely twice as many off the books, and probably over a million guys who are retired, or ‘used to do it’, and even more who have experience at one point or another. I’d wager a few million Americans know how to prep and paint a vehicle properly. I’m not even including cabinet finishers, industrial finishers, and high end house painters, who know how to prep and laquer properly. Easily 5-8,000,000 Americans are capable of doing this properly, if given the opportunity. That’s only potential viewers in the USA.

    • @joshuafuller9898
      @joshuafuller9898 5 років тому +5

      They're using self-etching-it's almost always that color. It would have been ok to shoot the bare spots with etch primer I guess, but why not just use epoxy primer over the whole thing. One less step, get your adhesion and your build in one shot.
      Of course, if you're going to "Block" it with a DA, what does it matter?

    • @kellyeakin18

      Should have come back with a sealer to even everything out and got it consistent and just because it's not a show truck doesn't mean you shouldn't try and do the best job possible I give it a year before the paint starts to start peeling and the you'll have to redo it. Just goes to show if you're painting to be cheap don't because in the end it will cost twice as much.

    Been watching since you first bought the truck. You have done a super cool fix-up on that classic cabover. When I was a kid my dad and uncle owned a trucking company and in the summertime I would ride along with my uncle in his big cabover getting a super view of the scenery. Early one morning we encountered strange fog, it hugged the ground and from the bottom of the windshield down was completely zero visibility fog and from the bottom of the windshield up was clear sky's. It was like we were on top of a cloud. Any one ever run into that? It was spooky. Great job Bruce!

    Not to bad for someone who doesn't have a lot of practice. I ain't no professional painter myself, but I've painted a few trucks in the past. A little advise I've found that helps not get to many runs is to do a light tack coat for the first coat, gives the paint some thing to stick to. Love your videos, you don't see to many people fixing up old cab overs. I practically grew up in them.

    Looks really nice! As fast the runs go, they can be sanded down then wet sand over it with fine sandpaper. Pretty much polish out the rest. And being that you're wrapping it anyway, any minor blemishes won't matter as long they are smoothed out. Iceman can likely fix any of the blemishes or overspray no problem. He's a master of making anything look like a million. Otherwise it is really nice for a fly by job! Keep it going Bruce!!
