My uncle had 2 LUVs.....a 1980 and an 1981. Both diesel. Those trucks ran FOREVER. He had well over 300,000 miles on each of them. He ran a welding business. A little history: The LUV (short for Light Utility Vehicle) was the forerunner of the S10. It came out in 70 or 71, I believe. Isuzu built them for Chevrolet, as well as the diesel engines in the ones that had them. Isuzu's version was called the P'UP, a cutesy abbreviation of the word "pickup" . Production ended in early 82, with the S10 making it's debut that fall as a 1983 model. Good luck on your project!!😎

LUV is a cool little truck. But a barn find is when you discover a car in a barn, not when someone advertises a car for sale and it happens to be in a barn.

My dad had a 72 luv and that thing lasted. So the story on the isuzu engine was that Chevy wanted to drop a mini truck. They partnered with isuzu because they had the truck already designed so,the badged it as Chevy but the engine had isuzu stamped on it. The Chevy Luv is one of the best looking mini's of all time in my book.

@@seancervantes1 And they had Isuzu engines in them to. I've seen a Isuzu Rodio with a v 6 vortec engine from the factory and Chevy rear end on them. Go Figure. The Ford Courrier trucks were pretty nice to have to.

My favorite thing on it was the chrome side pipes,It was lowered a little with some forward rake, tubbed out a little with 12" wide tires on the back and skinny's up front. He wrecked it driving it in the rain it hydroplaned off into a christmas tree farm. I worked at a Chevy dealer when these 1st came out. The dealer was "willing" to stock two or 3 of them at a time as he didn't want to get "stuck" with something that didn't sell. The first 2 years or so they had dual front headlights not single as in later years. When I worked in parts department, Luv parts were only stocked in 1 GM warehouse in Oregon or Washington, and 1 other warehouse in Georgia I think. Getting the parts always took a few extra days. When the S10 came out in 81 they still had the Luv that year as it's final year here I think. Sometimes I would have to move one in the lot and if it was sitting on ice in the winter with no weight in the back it took some time to reach hard pavement.
