Prudence's response was incredibly in character but also the most poignant. "I don't have to defend my right to exist actually" hit me hard
_"What gives us the right to preserve, although charming, a freak accident of happenstance?"_
My guy, your role here is hindrance. Prudence nails it.
She's absolutely right. Whether they're there by happenstance or not is completely pointless. She exists, therefore, she has a right to do so.
This is lowkey reminds me of Optimus Prime’s line of “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”
But if Megatron is saying it-
Feels especially hard hitting with the current political scenario of the real world…
man, I was thinking what my character's answer would be in this situation, and it was just that. "I live, therefore it's for me to decide what to do with my life, not you." and I knew Prudence would be the one to give the pragmatic answer, too.
2:06
Johnny finally made a character who is "literally everyone else in the world." 😂
To be fair, it was about time they get some proper representation.
And also kind of the world too?
@@haravikk The Dm is the game engine. ;)
Corazon introducing himself as Percival...god damn that was amazing
Yup! Sounded so sincere and emotional, right off the bat. We saw some of his chops in the Deadlands campaign and I think this solidifies it!
@@rhel373 Deadlands?! Shiii, Andy's been the best actor among them for _years_
"I deserve to keep on living because I live" really hit me right in the chest
Yeah, very true. And of course, being Prudence, it sounded mostly huffy and indignant and like she was talking about *her* life in particular more so than the lives of others. :D
Leave it to Prudence to selfishly deliver a selfless message🤣
I like to think she was speaking for her friends, too. None of them may have seen her hug gargoyle-bert, but we did. And we remember.
I like how she was saved for last because while everyone else gave their reasonings perfectly in-character, when you boil it down, what Prudence said is all that really need be said, and it applies to all of them. People live and they don't need to defend their right to do so.
I think the true origin of Geth is very meta, true in- and out- of universe. The beings that created it never intended it to harbor life, but some arrived by cosmic coincidence and grew into what we have now. The players never meant to start a seven-year-running massive DnD campaign with its own separate channel and 65K subscribers, they just did a one-off session and it grew into what we have now. The fact that the exposition came from Literally Everyone Else in the World in-game just makes it more meta. Love it!!!!
Amazing episode, good luck have fun with the end times everyone!!
And also the setting was decided on like a whim on the 2nd session
You can tell that a lot was put into this season. After 6 yrs of hapless romping accross Geth it's amazing and sad to have it all brought together in a final finale.
@@Sirfinchyyy I wonder how they'll bring about the new setting. Will it just be another random world, will we see it at the end of this one briefly as a promo, or will the new world be built on the ashes of the old one?
God damn! Percival/Corazons "confession" of who he is was... that was actually really emotional. Don't know how the rest of the episode ends up, but roleplaying wise this is shaping up to be possibly my favourite episode of the entire show!
Im sad it was skipped over so quickly. It was a truly beautiful moment
All of them were so beautiful and true to themselves!
His role playing is as stealthy as his character: he hides behind a cocky, self-centered appearance, then jumps out to sneak attack you right in the feels with heartfelt stuff like this!
@@superscriptturnip Yeah, seriously. I knew it was going to be good just from the way he said he's called Percival instead of Corazon.
I think that was just Andy talking 🥲
I think Mike has been planning for Eggbert to swallow the kidney for years
26:05 Kind of hard to believe that one of the most eloquent and existence affirming arguments came from the disciple of "Worship Cthulhu and he'll eat you last". Honestly Prudence's finest hour, I think.
Part of me is really excited for next week, but another part is really sad, these characters have been a part of our lives for the last 7 years, I'm really going to miss them 😭
Yup it is going to be very bitter / sweet indeed.
So true but im oh so excited for Johnny's own creation at the same time
I shall miss Bonesley most of all… 😭
This week in eggbert physiology, any organ removed from an eggbert may be safely swallowed and in doing so returned to its proper position and resume function.
He is a very magical creature…
Where do the sweeties come from, I wonder..
@@aegresen the appendix I assume. Everyone has one but it only has an effect in egberts
"we shouldn't disturb the ground around the seal"
*18 Moonbeam scrolls*
It is after all the easiest spell to cast
As these episodes go on, Liliana is giving me less and less 'evil mastermind' vibes and more and more 'centuries-long midlife crisis' vibes... :P
Elves‘ midlife crisis just goes on FOREVER.
A very nice episode. Kudos to Johnny for turning the running gag of flat-Geth into an ancient seal that holds destruction at bay, and for this great lore conversation. Kudos to whoever edited the episode and added the music. Kudos to the players for doing such good work on playing to their characters' personalities. :)
Going from "I deserve to keep on living because I live" to "I cast Comprehend Languages on Corazon's bum" sums up this series so perfectly - and also with that all the reasons we love it.
Egbert attending Scotch Eggs Anonymous was not something I knew I needed LMAO
Scotch Egbert
Little did Dob know that many generations later one of his dependents would become famed space doc Star Dob
Wow, Jane killed it this episode! The faces that Prudence was making while Egbert was going on about the wonders of goodness had me rolling! It was such a perfect reaction. I thought she might give a similar speech about the wonders of evilness _with friends,_ but the speech she came up with instead? That wasn't just good improv--that was good writing! And _amazing_ improv! I haven't gotten that emotional about an Oxventure episode since the day we found Dob's sister!
I hope Rust on the Harbor comes for the fight!
Hoping he comes sailing in from the sky on a Spelljammer ship 👀
Of course, they would still need to pay a terrible price for his aid...
A gold piece!
Where is rust was the exact question i asked
@@daviddaugherty2816In the Black Rose campaign the were guests in he got 9 lives. A special gold piece
As Oxventure slowly draws to a close, we are all Bismuth in Plandemonium when she said:
"Physically I can't relax.
I've not slept in 60 years,
and in many ways I shall never know peace."
If nobody caught it, right after "We are they, I am they" Jane rolls her eyes, and honestly that just seems like such a on point prudence response
When Bismith says "I assumed you had all died!" Prudence looks so peeved!
Corazon's confession and Prudence's argument were so strong
28:07 "Seven years..." 😂
Loved that moment!
Aww, they finally met Literally Everyone Else in the World!
I'm starting to get really emotional about the Oxventure ending. All the arguments for being allowed to continue existing, Prudence's both in-character and incredibly powerful rejection of the premise, and god, the music throughout... I don't know if I'm going to be ready for the series finale.
Actual genius episode. Reveals the origin of all things, gave everyone a moment and everybody else in the world discovered scotch eggs
10:10 Every time Johnny says the word "seal", I think they're talking about Seal Gaiman.
This might have been the most chill Oxventure ever.
A Red Dwarf Inquisitor style meeting, our heroes having to justify themselves, and then a banging beach party.
And next week... the end.
I'm not ready for it to be over!
I was thinking so much about that episode when it was Prudence Lister’s turn
Omg i thought this immediately, especially also because it was like a mix of legion and also the inquisitor. Felt very red dwarf inspired and i was full on geeking out. Although it could also be based on other sci fi stuff as red dwarf was already using tropes from more serious sci fi too.
They: Get out of this one, Smeghead.
Prudence: Spin on it.
@ApetureTestSubject hahahaa literally 🤣🤣
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who went straight there. I always love a RD reference.
If this ends with the surviving Oxventurers all singing Suezet’s old lullaby I might cry.
Wow, they actually met literally everybody else in the world!!🤯
The balls on johnny to plan a session around: "..defend yourselves... why shouldn't I kill you?"
Every DM‘s wet dream. 😂
Just want to say thank you Corazon, Merilwen, Dob, Egbert, Prudence and Johnny. I wasn't here from the start but it's been a wild ride and I've discovered a love of table top gaming because of you.
AHH. The imminent end is feeling very sentimental. This was a great penultimate episode, I loved the character moments, especially Lilliana's very reluctant growth and Prudence's rock solid ego, rejecting the premise even with the stakes being as high as they could ever be. Jane's squinty eyes were hilarious.
Are you guys TRYING to make me cry?!?
Johnny's sneaky little "Justify yourself" moment, and they finally got to embody "Literally Everyone Else in the World". Prudence continuing to be the MOST Prudence she's ever been. "I reject your premise and refuse to beg for my life" is now a top Prudence moment. Dob accepting his role as THE agent of Chaos. Marilwen admitting to atrocities for the greater good. Corazon calling himself Percival for the first time in ages, and admitting he's not proud of who he was, but he is proud of who he's become. Egbert... Just being peak Egbert. You guys are doing this on purpose, aren't you?!
I'm not crying! You're crying! Shut up!
I'm pretty sure it's the first time Corazon has called _himself_ Percival throughout the entirety of Oxventure.
Prism break is among one of the best pun titles so far
That might have been the greatest nat 20 any of these people have rolled in the time of Oxventure.
42:26 for those who want to see it again.
This episode was pretty much the best summary of the Oxventurer's Guild and how it's grown and changed over the years. Don't think I'll ever be ready for the final episode, but I know it'll be absolutely incredible.
This episode deserves an Oscar award. Music. Writing. Acting. This was outstanding!!!!
'This is gonna require everyone's spit."
Everyone instantly starts spitting.
true friendship
no better way to describe the relationship of the Oxventurers Guild tbh
This episode was incredible: Johnny taking their true form as literally everyone else in the world; Andy immediately introducing himself as Percival when giving his true testimony; Jane scalding a god for assuming a right of judgement. Absolute masterpiece ❤
I wish Corazon had remembered to ask Liliana to summon Percy Jr when Merilwen asked for Simon.
I love the origin of Geth. "Personality quiz" is hilarious. I love everyone's reasons for saving Geth. I was not expecting Corazon's reasons and I legit teared up. Prudence's expression at Liliana's reason is perfect. And then Egbert with the AA meeting introduction, lmao. I love that "They" allowed Johnny to participate as a character within the world they've created. Very nicely done.
I can tell I've missed Bismuth given how widely I'm grinning at her appearance. Oh wow. Good on Egbert for just fixing his kidney being missing problem so easily.
Aw, I love them gathering other characters like that and then just giving out all those Moonbeam scrolls. Aw man, I'm crying again at them having a barbecue together.
Man, this episode was everything I had been waiting for from Oxventure since the beginning. I really loved the therapy session - the roleplaying was top-tier from all of them. Jane especially did a really good job as Prudence, angry that someone would try to force her to plead for anyone's life, let alone her own life. *chefs kiss* Beautiful.
I bet Johnny is stoked that Oxventure now contains one (1) instance of straight up autocannibalism. Hopefully someone picked a Lizardfolk for their next character.
Poor Johnny, another true expression of a DM in that thumbnail.
Can't wait for Bob to solo the entire world
I have been with oxventure since the first episode. Incredible admiration of Johnny for his inhuman patience, and thank you to all of you and those behind the scenes for this incredible series of stories. They’ve been a constant joy and comfort through good times and bad. See you next week!
Friendly reminder that Johnny prefers they/them pronouns 😊
Five crystals! Now they have 25 seconds in the Crystal Dome for the final.
53:55 - Chauncey openes a note saying 'you are cordially invited to the leg of a seagull'.
The roleplaying in this episode was absolutely incredible, loved the setup. It's going to be so hard to say goodbye to these characters (even if they do occasionally come back). I think I'm going to miss Bonesley the most… 😭
Og dear. I'm actually crying at the confessions of who they are.
Oh man, the deep breath before the plunge, the silence before the storm... the last party before we say goodbye to these heroi... well, these adventurers. Quite a moment 🥺
Dragonborn physiology is so wondrous and impressive.
Oh no someone in The Matrix's loading room is wearing a scramble suit from A Scanner Darkly!
Imagine Jhonny actually TPKs the guilt next Episode after Kids gloves all the way so far. Would be hilarious.
I wonder if the idea crossed their minds to use the hammer skeletons to reanimate all the bones on the property and have a skeleton army.
I also thought of that when they got to Necropolis on Sea. And, the Oxventurers gave the skeletons the bones of that dracolich the last time they summoned them from the hammer. I wonder if that will pay off somehow)
Can I just say that Johnny is freaking brilliant at writing this stuff!
It's hard to express how magnificent this is. They've completely outdone themselves.
The Right to Indignation 🔥
When Corizon said his piece about geth making him a better person I almost cried. Seriously wasn’t expecting something that real and relatable in a fantasy escapism game. Really proud of Corizon.
That final peaceful moment before the final battle, it feels so bittersweet.
This all got very pratchett and im here for it
I absolutely love Prudence's reply to the test. She just gave me the goosebumps!!!
Loved every minute. It was profound, deep and heartfelt, with the trademark Oxventure hilarity. I'm going to miss these characters, but with the level of storytelling we've been seeing from Johnny these past episodes, I can't wait to see the new setting they've created.
What I love about this whole plot is that confirms that Geth really is a strange backwater, which explains why that planeswalker was so weirded out by it 😂
Oh cripes, Johnny brought The Auditors....😂
My thought too! GNU Terry Pratchett
I was imagining Merilwen in Revachol briefly.
MERILWEN: "These options seem awfully good or evil -- what if I don't wanna say them?"
RHETORIC: "Say one of these good or evil things or f--- off."
I love campfire episodes like this. Really lets you see how the characters feel when violence isn't the answer.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up a little during everyone's "who are you" moment. It's such a great way to give everyone one final personal highlight before it's all over in the next episode... Everyone's character work has been brilliant this season and major kudos to Johnny for their fantastic DMing and writing work!
I get it, the entity is everyone else in the world!
Technically, it was literally everyone else not in the world of Geth
Janes facial expressions when describing why she should be allowed to live or not were incredible. Got big mum energy telling off a child. "Im not mad. Just disappointed"
I can't believe next week is it! Saying goodbye is gonna be so hard but it's gonna be cool to see what the gang comes up with next. Also I can't believe they didn't think of Rust? Surely we will get to see Rust one last time right?
Petition to have "Get busy buying spices" as the next Oxventure t-shirt merch please!
This episode was a Crystical Hit to my brain!
not yet at the end of this episode but i'm loving the role playing in this episode, the way they all went about telling They who each of them are in character was done so brilliantly from everyone love the way Johnny set this whole part up.
Omg, "Literally Everyone Else In The World" became an actual character
The Dragonborn is truly a mysterious and wondrous creature
I love this so much!! These characters have all come so far, I’m so not ready!
The list video meta joke was so good
Dob sits in a.... chairlo (cello)
BOOOO! jk, that's actually some pretty good work 😄
This episode was a literary piece that I wish could manifest into the material realm so I could pull it into a hug, close to my heart. It was beautiful, thought-provoking and moving, and I'll feel forever privileged for watching it at this point in my life. It was exactly what I needed. Thank you.
Well no one really deserves to live, just like no one really deserves to die. We just do. Existence isn't inherently good or bad, valuable or worthless. You have to look at the circumstances of each instance of existence to determine whether it's worth preserving, ending, or leaving undisturbed.
By the way, the facial expressions Prudence made during Egbert's moral speech were the best part of the episode for me.
Haha I was literally just watching that part when I read your comment 😂 her facial expressions are hilarious. I didn't notice that during my first watch of this episode
I can’t believe it’s been 7 years already. Tempus Fugit. Time flees indeed.
I loved this one but I love all of the characters and episodes watching how they grow as characters and presenters always fun and I will miss these adventurer’s and Johnny you as always are a great Dungeon Master
26:03 The moment of “Oh no why did we make Prudence go last?”
At the end of the day, no story truly ends. You merely stop telling it. Glad I could be here when this was going on.
I hope what ever happens at the end sets up blades in the dark's setting.
Hahahaha, I see Johnny playing like 10 NPCs talking to themselves while the oxventurers just sit and watch the show next time
A little after 40:00 there's a magical new bit of dragonborn lore. I love Geth. I will miss this insanity of a world xD
Do you think Sir Jame Buffett might be litigious had me cracking up.
This unnerved me being put today. I thought I'd missed an episode 😅 xx
Man, surprisingly poweful from all the characters, but especially Corazon and Prudence. Genuinely moved.
Love how Johnny created a goddamn COSMOLOGY for their weird comedy D&D series 😅
Never had one but You guys make me feel like I have a family your all awesome
So who gets the blueprints for the prism prison tattooed on them?
i wish dob would have said more about his survival of rabies and his dance with death, being an aspring necromancer and ruler of undead, his love for liliana being difficult but worth it in his eyes, him being a keeper of stories and songs, funny and silly, sad and furious etc.
1:13 "7 stone chairs you found in a crystal"
This is one of my favorite episodes in the entirety of Oxventure
37:20: "I bear witness" went totally under the radar
Egbert the star lawyer returns!
well... thanks to Blades in the Dark, we already know, that - canonically - Geth survives.
Very probably but also: it doesn't necessarily mean it's Geth, as we know, it that survived
