I find it deeply amusing that Ellen and Luke manage to almost inadvertently commit more atrocities than Jane's avowedly evil tiefling warlock.
Prudence lying and telling Corazon the room was spherical reminded me of the time she told him he could open the box which was full of spiders (the one that said 'DO NOT OPEN' in a language only she could read xD)
Bet that's half the reason he learned comprehend languages
That's one of my favourite classic Oxventure moments. I think @Photo0 is right about that being a big influence on his learning comprehend languages.

I smirked up when Don needlessly cast healing on the first monster that was framing the day's adventure in the tavern. When he doubled down and said it was a level 4 spell I burst out laughing.
Johnny running with it and dropping his monster voice and acting like the monster lost 100 years of age was just the cherry on top.

Given how close together all the adventures occur, maybe it just hasn't been a month since "High Moon"? Prudence can't control her werebearness (ursanthropy?), after all. Or maybe she's just transformed between adventures and so it's never come into play. She does also still get the strength buff in her tiefling form.

Well she's not a born werebear, nor has she learned to control her powers yet. Next time her lycanthropy is addressed will probably be when Johnny decides to make a session dedicated to it.

@@Brian-tn4cd Not everything has to make sense. When you need to put everything under a single banner, some inaccuracies are bound to be formed. All such curse transformations afflicting humanoids turning them into an animal under set conditions is called Lycanthropy in D&D. I'm not making it up, that's just a fact
As a Norwegian fan, I spent a lot of this adventure mentally translating Dob's words back into Norwegian to figure out what he REALLY said, ha.
(Also, he was correct that "Takk" is Norwegian; Swedish and Norwegian are pretty similar!)

I'm late, but while takk is Norwegian, I'd like to add that if he were speaking Swedish, he would've said "tack". Which makes no difference phonetically either way, so take that needless bit of information and be happy about it, or not :D
Dob 'saving inspiration' for the boss and then burning his spell slots from the top down is peak Dob. I love it.
I love how Johnny just rolled with the fact that everyone can do Moonbeam. No one even batted an eye when AC cast the spell!

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name.
I actually had an idea for something similar. A "not-so-evil" lich (or rather, a lich who sucks at being evil) decides he's had enough of skulking about and opens a dungeon with random enemies for adventurers to fight and loot should they beat his final boss. There's a small deposit to pay for any resurrection fees, a really good health insurance plan for the enemies, and any loot you get before you die is yours to keep. I really want to run it at some point, but I'd need a group of players. Well, gives me time to come up with a table for the tower's inhabitants.
You need to play into this Johnny give merilwen an enchanted bow and make the enchantment be that it never misses a fleeing foe I would laugh my face off at that 😂

Merilwen being accused of wanting to commit war crimes by the rest of the party is probably my favorite running joke. Moon beam being easily castable by everyone is a close second.
I love that all the other npcs were supporting AC and wanted him to win. So wholesome. Well done Johnny.

Finally Andy gets his wish of confronting a gelatinous cube and it just wants to serve everyone lunch. No wonder Corazon didn't want to go cube-swimming with everyone else.
Johnny sure came up with a great premise for this one, nice to see the rest of them being helpful in the most that an oxventure team can be helpful.
Despite everything, I think this managed to be quite...sweet? Oddly wholesome?

Dob sits the puzzle out. That’s good because I picture Luke as quite the smart guy that likes puzzles.

I'm guessing Luke was the one that came up with the puzzle, so he sat it out since he knew the answer. Johnny mentions whoever came up with the puzzle probably wants to kick themselves after it was solved so quickly. Then Andy suggests Dob can go into the next room and kick whatever's there.

@@mar_speedman however it was described as a blood ritual which was shown to be still possible in the blades universe by barnaby's uncle to keep them young.
@@samtrue3 Well I suppose there were a few odd exceptions to the no magic rule here or there, but I doubt any magic as strong as immortality would hold very well by comparison. Like, little stuff can slip through the cracks, but that kind of magic is way too big to slip through like that, I reckon.
I feel like the Oxventurers get to take it in turns being the "bloodthirsty one" based on who committed the worst atrocity most recently. Merilwen will probably get cut some slack if Dob stumbles into another orphanage-comparable crime. I *would* point out that Prudence is probably the most atrocity-positive, but since she's the Token Evil Teammate and they expect it of her, I suppose it's not as shocking when she makes horrible things happen XD
Pretty sure for Prudence the equivalent ribbing would be about a good thing that she did.
And yet Prudence, comparably, still does the most good.
Johnny sounded so sad thinking of all the plot lines that were ruined by the Oxventure guild lol

I fully expected Corazon to try getting this dungeon under franchise contract as kind of adventure park. He really missed a chance to get an income stream here.

This was a really fun little story great job as always Ox crew.
I came to EGX, and was not as excited. I am now COMMITTED to coming to MCM in '23. Clearly that's where all the fun live Oxventures are!
Maybe it's because Luke was DM? Or more specifically, because of the lack of Dob shenanigans? I mean I personally love Luke's DMing style, but Dob adds a bit of chaos to any adventure he's in. Maybe that's why you weren't that excited?
This was a surprisingly wholesome adventure, I love all the monsters just being like "aw but we miss him"
The gelatinous cube sounds really pleasant.
That shocked expression of Prudence when Johnny announced the damage dealt by the boss...and realizing that it wasn't the whole number...priceless. You should recommend to watch that particular scene in the podcast :D

I was at MCM and was able to watch this live, it was awesome. I was also one of the lucky one to be able to get a poster and get it signed by almost everyone Jane sadly wasn't at the signing so I mis one signature. Maybe if I ever go back (or they come to one of the expo in Belgium) I'll be able to complet the set.

I think paladins and druids get revivify, druids have more ways to resurrect and eggbert isn't going to be the spellcasting type I feel so is on merilwen

Mike is good, him and Ellen are the best RP in the gang, imo. so what he forgets to use key mechanics, at least he's not shooting birds and gunking up the play just for the lulz random. Also i feel like its the DMs job to explain to someone who doesnt know or doesnt understand that they can do a better job mechanically and then leave it up to their choice. Paladin is a somewhat of a crunchy class anyway for someone like Mike who is self admittedly short on patience. Egbert also has never used shield of faith which is crazy useful lol.

What she is talking about there is not needing to roll. Most of the spells she uses don't require a spell attack either.

May I recommend that if you liked this meta dungeon thing that you read “There is no epic loot here, only puns”. I didn’t write it, I just really enjoyed it. The story has a lot of the same vibes as this.
