This is a marvelous tutorial and clearly a labor of love. Wow. When I did my installation into a 2016 Avalon, I retained the factory head unit and used an amplifier integration unit from PAC. I pulled out the entire floor including carpet and used soundskin deadening on the floor of the vehicle. Instead of running rear channels I went for an active 2-way front stage and have literally never looked back. (pun intended.) I wish I would've had this video in my arsenal when I took on the project.
did you install tweeters in dash? Does it sound like the sound stage is missing the fullness of vocals? I been playing around with wide-bands to put in dash so the vocals are heightened and I may like it better than tweeters.
@@daveroski Actually I kept all the factory speakers. I installed a DM-608 DSP unit and eq'd the heck out of everything to get it to sound right again. The factory speakers sound fine once the system was tuned but the drivers in the dash do start to get a little honky in the 2-4 Khz range when I hit around 95-98 decibels in the car. I actually am wanting to go the other way and put in some nice 1" soft domes. Vocals do sound really good with the tuned factory speakers but I listen to a lot of rock and the guitars can sound pretty bad at times especially with it turned up.
@@daveroski This was the JBL system. As usual with the premium systems, it was a pain to work around. Beware, if you are replacing the dash speakers in the premium system, there is a 3rd center speaker up there that is in line with those dash speakers. It will have to be disconnected if you want to hear whatever you put up there properly.
@@AFreshmanPerspective Hey Brian do you have a detailed process for how you managed to work around the premium system. I cannot find any information online. Is there any plug n play options? Also could you install an aftermarket head unit?
My previous vehicle was an Avalon Limited Hybrid. Had I known about 5Star, I would have gladly have you install this system in it. The JBL system it came with was not “premium” enough to play music accurately and produce a realistic soundstage. This Audio Control/ Morel combination looks great! Thanks for being there!!!
Bro you set the bar for car installs man. if I see a install if it isn't at par with your work then it isn't pro. i learn so much every time I watch your videos. keep doing your thing man. Your the Yoda of car audio installs.
Couple of underrated expert tips i gleaned from this video: - Using two seperate 12awg runs of black and red wire for the sub speaker wires is freaking amazing and something i wouldve never thought to try in a million freaking years - TINNING the wires before putting into the Phoenix connectors?? Good lord thats incredible, again something i never wouldv'e come up with on my own. On my Helix DSP hi-level inputs I just used tiny 18awg ferrules, but even the smallest ferrules still bunch up when they are inserted next to eachother, so that the inputs look cluttered. Tinning the speaker wire ends will still keep the copper ends together and prevent frayed strands from shorting, and also avoid the bunched up look of ferrules sitting that close together. Genius. -Also cutting the ferrules or tinned ends to fit the amp input sounds like a no-brainer, yet something I never did before. I always just inserted them at whatever length they were, and dealt with the wires sticking out in odd fashion depending on the connector. Cutting ferrules/speaker ends -> genius. -Bundling the RCA channels together in tesa tape in groups of 2 channels is pretty slick, still uses the Stinger F/R/S tag that the RCAs have, but makes it easier to line up and keep straight I stg we are spoiled with these videos being free content on UA-cam, step-by-step instructions on how to become a badass installer. We are all lucky
Wow!! This guy will have Bragging rights from 5 Star 💫 stereo Dean & Fernando Top installer of 2021 in my eyes 🔊🔊 smiling all the way back to California. Nice purchase from the owner.
Ill make the trip too someday, after seeing enough of your videos. I rather drive the 2,000 miles to Florida then pay someone here to install a system. You guys do great work
Am really impressed at how neat your wiring of the amplifier, speakers and subs is. Showing a very good knowledge of car audio systems. Keep up the good work. Just that we are continents apart, I would deliver my car to you for an install. However, do not be surprised if this happens
Your attention to detail is astonishing. I've been a subscriber for years and watching you and Fernando work is very entertaining as well as educational. Glad to have you guys!
I have the dual 12 version of that Kenwood box in my Accord & I love it, I currently have it running on a Kenwood 5 channel amp at 600 watts. I eventually want to switch to a dual amp setup and run these at their full power of 1,000 watts which would be great & complete the rest of the stereo in the car as well.
Filming Fernando working on the rear deck might have been more informative if shot from the rear. Watching the installation process is really what it’s all about! 👍🏻
Love how you cable manage I try to tell people this all the time to take an extra few minutes and cable manage but all the installs I see are so messy looks awful.
Nice Job🙏 I have a 2013 I have been waiting for this video for so long just to get some kind of ideals on how to set up my system this was all I needed to see now I am on my way to set it up this way not that way
Did you ever get your 2013 sorted? I have a 2013 limited, and I'm desperate to find some way to upgrade to an android head unit or at least something that supports Android carplay. 2013 seems tricky. Glad for any guidance.
Awesome video! I have a toyota tundra. I'm installing this amp AC lc 5-1300. Will it be fine to install speakers using the factory speaker wire, or should I run 16 ga wire to the doors?
Is this the same process that needs to be done to a 08 Avalon I have a six disc cd changer factory. Could you post a video of a 08 Avalon subwoofer hookup
This is one of the best installations I’ve seen at Five Star Car Stereo, excellent job. That Kenwood head unit looks like it goes with the car while the factory head unit looked aftermarket just like Dean said all along.
The way you designed that amp tray is just genius. By the way, you don't need any special tool to install rivnuts. You can install them just with a bolt of the appropriate thread and a few washer and nuts. I was hoping that this install would be very similar to my 2011 Lexus ES350 layout, but, sadly, it's not.
When I downloaded the dm smart dsp v1.3.44 for my DM-810 the RTA was acting weird and one of the mono output wasn't outputting audio. So not sure if it is just me or what.
Great episode guys. I have the pioneer 8200nex. Would this Kenwood be an upgrade or downgrade in your opinion? I really like how Kenwood has the dash cam ability. I don't think pioneer has that
i could look up each component but anyone know off the top of their head how much this is worth? How much is the labor? I work on my own stuff I'm just curious
My question is I have 2018 toyota camry and lot My car controls like ac settings and interior setting like light timers daytime running light setting many more are in factory radio and want to use aftermarket radio what can I do about not losing these setting
I have exactly the same car, planing to do the same thing. I live in Atlanta but I'll drive to Florida, let this guy's do the job. Any idea how much would it be $$?
eeeeeeh.....It's barely tolerable...I could not wait to put a good system in...I kept tge head unit but replaced all speakers with my 20+ year old Boston Acoustic reference series speakers and JL Audio amps, FIX 86 and sub....I found this video because I'm thinking my head unit might need to be replaced and I wasn't sure if it could be....nice to see it's possible....these guys do great work!👍👍

Almost all the cars you guys do we don’t have here in Europe.
Interesting to see, and a bit jealous because some are really nice .
I never thought to put sound deadening on the speaker mounting bracket and surround. Totally makes sense though.
Impressive that they think and plan it out even down to which way the zip tie heads go! Better than excellent - Professional!

Beautiful wire placement and plan on the layout with the precise execution
Great and concise vid with good info without a lot of wasted time. Thanks!
Dope episode…thx for this video cause I always wanted to know what an aftermarket head unit looked like in that model Avalon.
I found them. They're in Clearwater FL. I know exactly where they are. May be taking a little trip back to Florida in the near future.
27:20 Dean sharts his pants 😂
I heard it too!!! 😂
I would love to take my 2019 edge st to get a install done, I just bought hertz milo 6.5 components for front and back, as a good start up

awesome install guys keep up the great content..love the long videos..

What would a setup like this cost? I too have a '15 Avalon and the stock JBL setup sounds like a Fisher Price radio from 1990.
is the passenger SRS light and lock light intergtated or is it a completely separate line going to back of the besel?
Have you ever tried using the threaded inserts as a grounding point? I'm curious if they would be effective for a low-moderate current application.

Where do you go through for the power to battery
That Kenwood looks like a fantastic box for parents. As always awesome install.
hey man im thinking about driving from new york to your shop for that same full system upgrade. how much is everything priced for that same car?
Do you sell the tweeter mounts you made for dash?
What’s a ball park on equipment and installation labor for this build?
