Maybe you right and people wrong to want and expect better from the supposedly youth that's on the right track in school. Being grown isn't a age it's a mind frame, it's a certain level of respect and understanding. When I say the song is distasteful, it's because we're in the streets yelling BLM and on the other hand jumping and dancing to a song by a killer of two people.

My son plays for this band & when he was in HS in Newark, NJ I was able to be at every marching band, jazz band, rock band performance & record every moment. Since Norfolk is 6 1/2 hours away this is no longer possible. Your work allows me to virtually be present with my son & the band & still show my support. Your recordings & your work is now mine. Even though I hardly ever get a clear shot of him it's ok cuz I know & feel he's there & I'm there with him. A thousand thanks for what you have done, are doing & will do. Bless you man. This is no small endeavor

This is why I love me some MEAC. It’s not just about powerful brass blasting over everything. It’s about an appreciation for the woodwinds, balance and tonality. The Spartans, A&T, FAMU BCU all have this down to an art form. Exceptional job as always Spartan Legion.

Let the fullness of it sink in man: I've got murder on my mind. I wanna steal a human being from their loved ones and leave nothing but devastation in my wake. For real? We do realize that sinks into our souls right? We know our kids are influenced by that right? And we wonder why the murder rate within our own communities is so bad. There's a lot to it but let's not pretend music has no influence. We gotta do better fam. Said with all the love and passion in my heart. We gotta save ourselves because nobody else will do it for us. Change starts from within.

Same. The tune is nice but damn. Lyrics are horrible. There are alot of lyrics like this in our music that I believe hypnotize our people. Music is important to the soul, and that's why I prefer music with no lyrics. I feel and understand what the composer tries to communicate but listening deeply. We need more peace and love in the black community. Once we gain that, we are dangerous community. Love NSU though.
My first thought was I wonder how many in the comments will have a problem with this. This is extremely problematic for Black men to score the song, teach it, then have kids chanting the lyrics. We are a damaged people mentally

I have to agree with you there, that's the only thing I don't like. Considering we're a higher learning institution and especially an HBCU. I ain't saying they should play all gospel, I hope they at least substitute the word "murder" for something else going forward. Sounds dope though!

Drequynn Rod They sounds good but would not be better then a few SWAC bands. Not to mention that the 🐐 is the the SWAC. The JUKE of course. Often imitated but never duplicated. Norfolk is good but if we keep it real, we know the JUKE is the “litmus” test

Ro Velt they have a much cleaner sound that the JUKE however it’s not even close in power.

I don't know about that Labella...what you're mistaking for fluffing is actually dynamics which is rare for HBCU euphs/baritones. They are taught how to truly "play" the horn instead of ROOOOOO-ing all day.

I like how they probably don't even question (the act of) singing and dancing to the music. I understand it's probably a lot more normal in southern band culture to do different things, than what I was used to. But in the high school and college band I was in, people would either like and just do the corniest shit or call everything stupid and barely participate. But the attitude seems to be different about most things, especially in an HBCU (or any college band for that matter) where it's important for everyone to hold up a certain image for the band. Lyrical content aside, if I was doing this in high school maybe half the kids would fully participate. But then again they hardly participated in band itself anyways. Also, this isn't considering the bigger and better bands where people uphold the image and participate and all that
