I attended Southern University in the 70's, and I always thought we had the best band in the land, but the Spartan Legion'!!!s overall presentation is superior. From the announcer to the percussion section, it is the best I've ever seen. Their tunnel after games is must see video

This band literally spent half the time either not matching or marching in place!!! Now of you say, it’s a different style and you like this style, that’s a totally different conversation! Simply put, there’s a REASON this band is NEVER mentioned among the best bands! It’s because they ARE NOT one of the best bands!!! Point blank!

Doing 8 to 5 and step 2 drills isn't difficult. My high school band taught us that. You are not reading enough. Norfolk is mentioned amongst the elite bands and is world renowned. We may not be as well known as Southern because we don't have that much exposure in the sticks if the deep south.

NSU spartan legion has never been a sleeper band, I went there , ran for SGA, won and still tried out for Spartan guard. I've watch the tapes from The 70's until today... we have consistently been great.

The Best HBCU Band I have heard and I have heard most to all. They were Musical, Clean with Clear Articulation and Tone, The Drum Section was Clean and Musical, The Flags and Dancing Group was Dead On and precision was clear and precise. The Overall Show was just a joy to watch and enjoy. The Tone was such a joy to listen to. Not blasting and they were playing together. This is a Band that is as Musical as it gets. The formations was simple but, uniformed. I know many might criticize that they were in "Concert Formation" alot but, I did not care. I want a clean show and I saw it. Kudos NSU for an INCREDIBLE SHOW. Many will hate and that's from their ignorance. What a GREAT SHOW from a GREAT BAND!

That intro was immaculate! The balance & tone is on point, overall sound is crisp, and I’m impressed! Always been a fan of the Spartans b/c they carry their own identity 1of a kind type vibe… 🔥😎 only constructive criticism I have is to work on marching formations to match your style! But, overall killing it! 💪🏾 oh, that Faith Evans arrangement whoaaaa 🤯😳🔥
As a old legion member from 07 it feels good that the Spartans are receiving their flowers.. I feel you on the formations but what a lot of people don’t know is that our formations are specifically designed to provide the best sound on the field.. if you notice the other bands may have had thematic formations but the sound suffered tremendously.. It part of the reason why we sound so crisp!!

I never went to an HBCU but I have cousins that went to Howard, FAMU and Hampton. And now I can say my nephew plays for the Spartan Legion I am sooo proud!!! Now my babygirl is learning majorettes a next generation of HBCUer’s. Go Neph Zyon, NSU!!!

Band sounds good. Been sounding good. The MEAC is theirs with the other 3 top bands in different conferences now. Hot ice....I swear I be rooting for yall because them girls from the late 90s and early 2000s🙌🏽 The talent and potential is there. I think its just too many girls or they at least need to have cuts. Guarantee they could have gone out there with 5 girls and slayed. M$FS 🔥
I agree with everything you said. I started my fanhood of Hot Ice in the late 99s, early 2000s and that was their best squad years to date. I love my school and will bleed Green/Gold until the day I die, but right is right and wrong is wrong and that is DEFINITELY A REACH re: being the standard. They in top though along with GD and 14K. I've always loved Hot Ice field and their battle routines are too die for but their counts and stands.... dated and kinda boring in comparison to others. Sorry ladies, it's my truth!!!
This footage is much better than the one I saw previously. I don't remember whose it was but I don't think it was Killa Kev. Anyway great job kev as usual. Band sounds awesome and it looks like they have less members this year but no problem still sounds great. The dance squad was very good and choreography was working much improved. The uni's were nice too. Well done you guys.

Meac has won 11 of 15 Meac SWAC football challenge Norfolk went to NCAA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT Last year. A&T won celebrity bowl back to back . Bands you take Jackson and Southern and I'll take the Legion and the Blue and Gold matching machine all day everyday. NSU alum

Norfolk just has this certain groove to them that I always hear. I don't hear it with any other band. Love it!
Its the percussion section that brings it together.. that's where the groove is
