🎉 Daytime Dramas greetings from coastal Mississippi and Light House Cafe. Thank you Alan for this wonderful treat. Highly enjoyed this interview with Doug. One Life to Live, his character Cole still resonates 35 years later. The underground city of Eterna was one of my favourite story lines. I even had the Eterna statue recreated. I was in NYC on September 10,2001. Sadly, l lost friends on 911. Windows on the World, North Tower and Marriott Hotel. We have a beautiful Memorial here. I will be hosting our own Cancer telethon here .l have lost many a family member and friends to cancer. The only true Hope for mankind and its problems is God's Kingdom Government ❤ Alan, l wish you peace . Enjoy your co-hosting on Stand up to Cancer...See you in the Locher Room 🎉
Yes it was a treat sadly I never made a, eternia gold nugget or a mendoran jewel or a model of baderly island but those stories including fraternity row and the daisy awards are probably my favorites. And the wade coleman charecter should have been around for years as well as marylyn even if the charecters were not together and that's whats sad. Anyway I gave you some tourist attractions scott and told you where the actaul dk dinner is so for oltl fans you can always arrange a, dk Diner visit if you come to the Philadelphia PA area for a visit or Wilmington Delaware.
Ouch! That Paul Rauch story was brutal! Fraternity Row/The Daisy Awards was a great episode/series of episodes and it really worked. And he is correct, OLTL did get a Best Writing nomination in 1990 for 1989- when the soap within a soap storyline aired.
I'd love it if you could interview Mark Philpot, Marcia Cross, and/or Louise Sorel aka the Sanders family. Those were the golden years of OLTL in my mind.
Oh man- I need to comment when this is all over, not as I watch-- I am only at 14:16-- Not only is Doug a great guy- but I am learning so much about him! Alan- Another great interview- thank you!!
Thx for this interview. I saw Doug in DeathTrap when it came thru Grand Rapids Mi..great play! I remember he was very good in that play...I waited after and got his and Elliot Gould and Cindy Williams autographs on my program. Glad to hear Doug getting back in the acting business as he is very talented and still such a handsome man. He should not count daytime out...he would fit in perfectly.
Alan, another wonderful interview today. I have enjoyed Doug's work in different genres for years, but I lost contact with his career. What I like about your interviews is that you always discover a unique quality to your guests. I never knew that Doug was involved in search and recovery after September 11,2001.Also, his successful battle against cancer. That fact will come first in my mind when I think of him. Also, I have heard notorious stories about Paul Rauch through the years. To a fan what goes on behind the scenes explains the direction of the show at a certain time. I saw the original Take Me Out but not the recent revival with Jesse Tyler Ferguson. But, I saw him on a recent episode of Elsbeth. I will be thinking f you and your mom tomorrow,
Roger Corman recently passed away, I wonder what experiences Doug recalls having made Corman’s “Dracula Rising” in which he played a very, very awesome vampire. 🧛🏻
Sorry to chime on again but from what people are saying in the comments including me is a fine example of something Doug Marland said in 1986 in his how not to ruin a soap concerning charecters and stories you might not think is interesting or boring might be the charecters and stories the audience loves the most. I know for me the eternia and soap within a soap with fraternity row and the daisy awards was probably one of my favorites and when 35 years later fans are still upset that wade coleman was just sudenly dropped and mary Lin says, something and by the way Alan fraternity row was never mentioned again until oltl was going off the air and Ron carlivati did a special episode dedicated to fraternity row ending too. And Alan I bet you Ron carlivati probably would feel the same as us concerning oltl considering he was watching them as a, fan sadly I never made a, gold nugget bar or mendorran jewel or duplicated a baderly island model but still the stretching of the imagination but in a good way is probably what I miss most about those days of oltl. Which is the difference between Paul Rauch at oltl and Paul Rauch at guiding light and stuff like the prince Richard and reva clone stuff because it was too ridiculous. Just my thoughts alan
There is so much wonderful 1988 OLTL on YT right now and Doug/Marilynn were the shows only "Young Romance" and they were both great upon rewatch. The show made a huge mistake killing off Lee (Mari-lynn's mom) and Rauch actually blamed the Writers Strike-- Lee was never supposed to have been killed. And then Tom Dennison left by 1989. They kind of stranded Mari Lynn and Wade without a core family- which was always the kiss of death on a soap. Doug is a real stand up guy- and this was a great interview
@@upontheventura yes and Tom Dennison don't forget was Joe rileys twin brother as was revealed in 1986 when Lee Peterson came back that same actor who played Joe Riley. And even though Tom was not well recieved as a charecter mainly due to people just wanting. Lee to play Joe Riley. Does not mean you take it out on marylin and wade and sure maybe wade and marylyn did not need to stay together as a couple but that does not mean get rid of the actors ohh let's see Dan and Brenda got ruined in August 1990 too. But I have said my peice about that too concerning Brenda Brock and Micheal palance and how that got ruined while rauch was ep bit you see the writer changed but linda gotlieb could have fixed that and didn't. But Maybe if Alan hears about that from oltl fans as the Micheal grande storyline was another memorable one and Dan and Brenda were another popular couple you just got together fully and then you ruin 2 months later.

🙏 Yep🙏
And I plan on bringing up Doug everytime Fraternity Row is mentioned again. I believe every word of that!!!
I saw him in Take Me Out in Seattle. He was great. I saw him at the stage door and told him
How was he in the show?
He was really good.
@@TheLocherRoom great

I would love nothing more than to sit down with them.

12:20 Damn he didnt know
I know that was shocked me as well.
@@TheLocherRoom Yeah very surprising! Loved seeing him though. Any chance you will get Karen Lorre, or Tammy Amerson sometime?
Thx for this interview.

Sorry to hear that, Erik.

Eileen Fulton is 90, not 99
I realized I said the wrong thing 🙈🙈
