- Yesterday we applied body filler on all the low areas that we found then we "flooded" the entire panel so that we have one surface to sand. Today we're going to show the fastest and most effective method of sanding body filler to get a show car finish ✅

Good show with the mask chad. I hope joliene is wearing one as well. Your followers are very concerned about your health and safety. We love you guys. ❤
Mask doesn't work over chin only. U kno when its not on. Chad's voice is clear. Hope urs is on Jolene .
@George wtf
In response to Allan Rose, I believe Chad's approach is borne out of his Discovery Channel experience, where he had 30 days to complete whatever he started. I also believe that everything will eventually be completed. But in the meantime, he's interested in teaching and sharing how he does things. Completely finishing a project is not his goal in my belly button opinion. It's not the destination. It's the journey. And we're all along for the ride.
Could be waiting on parts so he'll jump to the next project ,just to keep everything going
Opinions are like belly buttons everyone has one ! I appreciate everything Chad does not every car builder takes the time to teach people how to do this and all the tips and advice is FREE ! WELL IM ALL IN when it's free and I'm watching every day ! Thumbs-up Jolene and Chad !
@@kevinmcleod7580 AGREE!!
To Wine Dave. Please don't say "You're exactly right" referencing my comment, and then go on to trash Chad. You are entitled to your opinion. But it's not one I share.
Perfectly said.
These in depth videos are like getting master classes for free. Learning a lot. Thanks for the great work that you both do!
Another lesson and reminder to do it carefully. Go for it Chad. Jolene is simply amazing every day with the video.
I don't even fix up cars, but I like to listen to this guy talk about stuff.
Great personality dude.
Always learning watching Chad .He's the best. No doubt in my mind ! Australia. Dave.
Hi chad and Jolene, I'm currently working on a 1980 Ford mark 5 cortina with two doors. I'm from the UK, and love to follow your 1958 Ford thunderbird and I absolutely adore it, absolutely brilliant I must say. Your knowledge is second to none and all your skills, including your attitude. You explain everything in detail and how it is; straight to the point. Honestly I've learnt more than I ever have before especially on body filling and preparation. I watch your videos everyday, it's become part of my routine. I have to say, Jolene's welding is fantastic. What a brilliant woman. God bless.
Watching from the Finger Lakes region of NY. My current project is the restoration of a Jersey Speed Skiff. Fabrication and bodywork skills are needed in boat repair as well so I always learn something new watching Bad Chad.
Hey iam at loves near ya
I never thought about the fillers having variances in hardness🤔.
I had found going back and filling small areas never worked well on fenders with compound curves and reverse curves. 1960-64 Corvairs I found cut best using airfile with standard blocking crisscross pattern working in the body lip all around the car. Great episode, thank you!
hance
Thanks again for the lessons. I've been told that if you don't learn something new every day, you've wasted a day. The little jig with your ditty gave more than just Jolene a giggle. I think its healthy for an adult to be a little silly by times. Keeps your inner child smiling. I'm working on a trike and these body work tips are invaluable. I hope it turns out as good as the picture in my head!! I think you are keeping Fina out of the shop because of the dust, that stuff isn't good for lungs, good on you for masking up, I hope Jolene did as well. I'll be looking for you tomorrow.
Looks great! 1940 Plymouth coupe here in SE PA. I think the 55 to 57 T-Bird rear window would be just small enough to give a nice metal border around the glass. Great video Jolene!
This is great. it's so helpful to see in real-time how long this process takes. So often we watch stuff on UA-cam and think "that looks like fun, I could do that" then when we try to do it ourselves we find out, "wow, this takes a long time".
I remember watching "This Old House" back in the day and thinking "Home remodeling looks like fun" But Bob Villa had Norm doing all the actual work off camera. I don't have a Norm to do my work.
I like the way he explain the ocean floor makes a lot of sense to me I’m going to try and use that concept next time I do bodywork
watching you from ohio everyday Chad my dad my brother and i watch you all the time my dad has frontal lobe dementia and watching you work on cars makes the old him come around to visit cause its something he understands thank you for sharing your trade with the world
Truly a blessing ! God Bless ,,,,,,,,
Which model. Is your welder??? 220. Volt. ??
Central Ohio for me, look forward to the videos everyday
The world can get fast at times, Chad and Jolene ground me out!
Your treatment of the body rr deck dip in the center to avoid a dip in the glass by adding a U-turn in the deck drop is BRILLIANT. Looks beautiful, and looks factory, too.
Oval for the window would be awesome! With port holes on the sides. Good job Chad and Jolene!
I was thinking the same
I don't agree, I always thought that port hole windows looked tacky. It would ruin the clean straight lines of the car.
Probably the best explaination of sanding and filling ever . Great job dude.
Great job Chad I really appreciate with the extra skills you show us. A small rear window out of a 48 to 53 chevy pickup would be perfect for the bird !!!!
You could even add the corner windows to eliminate those blind spots too! Woopee!
TY Chad & Jolene, you do more effective teaching than i have ever seen
Excellent demonstration excellent teaching excellent job
You are a good teacher! Thank you!
You guys are an incredible daily inspiration. Thanks for sharing your endless talent and creactivity.
Learned a lot today. Thanks Dream Team.
Good episode Chad and Jolene..Love the lessons you are sharing..This car will be amazing..
Chad I know you will getter done and it will be righ and I watch you everyday at 5 pm in Louisville KY and I've have learned alot watching you todo and not what todo and I thank you for the time to explain what you do. No Jolene I haven't forgotten you so I will say hi to you and say thank you for keeping the camera and doing a great job. God bless you and Chad and have a blessed evening and night
Excellent. Thanks for the lessons. Never too old to learn.
Hi Chad and Jolene my wife and I watch you all the time. You were asking for ideas on the back window for the thunderbird. I was thinking a window from a 1960 to a 1965 Ranchero or maybe a 1964 -1974 el Camino would work. Oh yeah forgot to say where we’re from. We’re from Deary Idaho, my project is a 1938 Alis Chamler model B Tractor. Thank you for what you do. You two are wonderful. And fun to watch.
Videos are getting better. Good on ya sharing this knowledge. I used to do body work for 13 years. Still do on my own projects and teaching my son. Very important to pass these trades on.
That little rebate in the parcel shelf looks factory. Fantastic.
Looking super smooth, and I'm looking forward to seeing more sanding tomorrow or tonight if you decide to post another one tonight. Great job Bro.
dude you videos are re igniting my passion for body work
A flat file air sander works wonders for sanding flat panels.
Hutchins for the win in my opinion.
Yes, 👍anyway to cut the long block n guide coat hours😰
Glad to see the masks enjoy your awesome vids just looking out for each other love tips and content craigger
Chad. Consider using a vacuum with a hepa filter. It removes the dust rather than moving it around by brushing. Also keeps dust down from the air....your being, lungs and all your shop space.
We do this in my construction business. Vac all the time sweep very little. Ends up saving time overall and makes for a nicer work space.
From Indiana here...great work, watch daily
Continue to enjoy watching this video and learning. Thanks for taking the time to show us
You and Jolene are the best out there I watch you guys every day 👍
Great tips. Thanks 👍
She is a great woman. She does a great job ❤
Biggest back window you can find. No portholes.
Absolutely agree, big rectangular window and port hole windows would look cheap and tacky. They would ruin the nice straight lines of the car.
I now rush home, eat really quick and put my headphones on to watch the latest episode. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you for caring about your fans by listening to our safty hints. Don't forget about Jolene too
Well here we are and again your on it I’ve always done the 40 to 80 we’ve started going to far my paint generally comes out nice, bottom line you rock and we love watching ya ever day!
Les 37 Chevy pro street, Sacto Ca
Chad is a good teacher.
Great video again showing it all, Jolene as always perfect filming the whole process, thanks for sharing
Good on ya with the mask Chad !
Watching daily from Chenango Forks, New York. Project is a '35 Chevy 2dr sedan. Almost warm enough to get out to the garage and get back to it!
Skvělá práce, těším se na krásné zadní okno a boční elipsovita okénka. Děkuji. Mějte se krásně. Bobes. Česká republika
Just a tip for everybody if your air tools are running slow take some brake cleaner and spray it in the air inlet to clean it out then re oil it there are veins in there and if they are sticking it will run slow and they have a muffler on them that plug up looks like a filter clean or replace it. I was a maintenance man for a boat manufacturer and rebuilt a lot of air tools and fiber glass chop guns and pumps.
I love this channel. I learn something new all the time. I'd go rectangle window..
Back window: 1966 Mercury, Monterey Breezeway... Love your work, Chad and Jolene.
Thanks Chad you explained that will ,good job.
Love the T-Bird look, as far as the back window, no doubt in my mind, Chad will not be looking for any specific car's rear window, he will go to a junk yard and walk around and see something he thinks would look good. And when he is done, it will end up looking good. My opinion is I don't like the idea of the porthole windows, as it will definitely change the look of the top. I also would not reinstall the chrome strips at the base of the side of the top. Love the daily videos, from Ohio.
Omg. This is fabulous. U go brother.
Watching from Arizona everyday! Thank you both for making my day...again!
Hello Chad and Jolene and Fina all the way from Florida working on a 1985 F150 and a 1995 chevy Tahoe 4x4 mud tires
Watching all that sanding is as fun as watching grass grow
I don't have much experience so watching is a great help. Chad has good commentary. If you don't get anything out of it, don't watch.
Trunk lid looks great!
Michigan here. Working on a few cars of my own. 67 Belair 2dr hardtop. 1950 Chrysler Windsor 2dr hardtop. 1973 Chevy Cheyenne Short box fleetside. 454 400 4.11 posi factory truck.
Also working on a 1973 Lincoln Mark IV 521cid stroker motor. Not my car. Owner is a bit unrealistic with expectations. Wants a 800hp car with AC and Cruise. The cam is so lumpy we had to put a vacuum pump on the car for the brakes to work.
The Ford Oval window would look amazing. No doing a project at the moment, but you sure have put the bug in my ear to get me inspired to do something. Obviously I would not do it as well as you do, but I can certainly use the same enthusiasm you do to do the best I can at my level.
I hate to be a pain in the butt but the single elastic masks is about the same as wearing no mask. The 3M N95 double elastic masks are the ones to use. You guys are great! I enjoy your videos and watch them almost every day. Keep up the good work.
Just a 3m respirator is easier to get on and off than pulling rubber bands over your head. And filters most 99 of the particulate. We use them in our construction co.
The thin pink filters work well. Also filter some of the vapors from the chemicals. And the weld fumes. Great units
You would have made a great shop teacher even my simple mind understand what you are explaining I have done a lot of glass working on semi trucks could you cut the window down with a grinder to fit
She always looks amazing ❤
I enjoy watching you daily chad an Jolene,,I don’t do my own stuff anymore because of my age but I don’t miss any of your programs,,thank you guys for being here like you are,,hi to fina too, luv ya’s,,👍👍😀
Frank from Plymouth MA I’m working on a 1960 Tbird so I’ve been watching with great interest
Thank you both for protecting by mask! I can hear you loud and clear...
Great video thank you. I like these videos much better than the programs. Thanks again cheers to ya.
Thanks for passing on your hard-earned lessons Chad.
A++ explanation of the ocean floor Chad. Even I understood that lol. Great camera work again Jolene..Cheers
The bodywork is what I come to this channel to watch.
You're an excellent teacher Chad! Very informative and helpful show!
thank you for sharing, great advice and great axplanation
Good Morning :)
yeah, the fill the lows and then skim the whole area is the fastest and best way to get it spot on.
I've tried filling small areas and just sanding and you end up wasting time for poor results.
Is it too cold to open the roller door and put a fan over the area to reduce the dust?
The fan method works the best because the gasses go away too.
I would try an oval layout on the back window to help off
set the square body lines, just a thought.
Great tips , and most appreciated. One question : what do you use for a mixing board ? Thank you..
Just a thought and a idea for the rear window.
Try to find a rear safari window for a VW T1 / T2 to fit into the rear window sheet of metal.
A safari window is able to open as it is hinged.
Another idea would be to install a power window that is able to slide down just like the one in late 60´s and 70´s US station wagons.
Love to see your daily vids .
Cheers from Denmark
like your rear safari idea for a back window. but he will put in the window of his choice
Mercurys of the early 60's had an electric rear window, that would be sharp
Hey Chad glad you're wearing a mask with that dusty junk.
Your lungs are your body's air filter.
Imagine if your engine's air filter took in that much dust.
Difference is you'll end up getting lung cancer down the road.
You're so successful and with your beautiful talented and loving fiance would be a waste, just my opinion.
All said love your creativity of what you and Jolene do. So Special !
From Marshall N.C. USA
Good evening, chad and Jolene. I enjoy every video in the evening. Don’t watch much television anymore more. You guys and girls are more entertaining and a lot more of You Tubers. I want to thank you .Steve from st.Stephen. N.B
Good floated yesterday's 👍
40 roughf 80 fine advance sanding
Good safe rec 😷
A back window for a 57 t-bird would look great in my view, thats me!
Great stuff as always!
Great job today really explained well. Car is looking good keep up the amazing work 👏!!!!!
Well I've learnt a shit tonne with the sanding / putty side. / ocean floor and the floods. Love it!
Looking good so far
Good evening jolene and chad hope your having a wonderful day today and thank you for sharing your videos I in joy coming home from work and watching a real show
Of all the car restoration shows I watch, including this one, I never see anyone using an air file. I was in the collision industry my whole career, and I used mine almost everyday.
Safety comes first your health good show chad
Looking nice...I like the method Chad teaches...car is goin to be nice...another school day...cya tomorrow Chad and Jolene 😊
Might want to check out a 57-59 retractable back glass and see how that fits. It is roughly the same shape.
Is it preferable to prime bare metal before filling? Just as extra corrosion protection?
Washington State moving to East Texas with a shop. Currently have a bmw 330ci project because my GMC Sierra guzzles gas. Gas is only getting higher.
I’m looking for a ghia or corvair project. Something good on gas.
You’re killing it on this Chad!
Two thumbs up for wearing the mask bad Chad I think all of us as young Fellers growing up in the Annapolis Valley who caught chickens none of us wore a mask but that is not the right choice to do I know too many people that have caught chickens and worked in those chicken plants for many years that got cancer 20 years later
I think an oval port hole rear window would look good 😁
Looking good great job like watching your videos
I think a large Oval Window would look good for the Ford Oval. Maybe even put a Ford Oval looking Etched look to it, I did it to both of the Back Door Windows on my Ford Van, that I customised!
I learned that if you sand it right you're flicking someone off 😂😂 I hope this build takes a couple more months so I can tune in everyday just to watch it!!!!
Maybe cut the present window to fit the back. If you are going to another window I would suggest a rectangle Window would suit the look of the car rather than oval. Great work you 2 once again.
Chad had mentioned the original glass can't be cut because of it being tempered.
One of the best shows on the Webernet.
Like the lines are like tattoos pure art & 🔥
very very good thanks..
I think an oval window would look good with round portholes in the roof side panels.
