I wish I would have seen a video on this before now. I learned the hard way, when I was doing my hot rod. You are doing it exactly the way it's supposed to be done the first time. God Bless you Chad!
Chad ,you are correct about sand blasting. What happens is you relieve the stress of the metal on one side, which allows it to warp. I love your work and Joline's videos. Keep it up, 👌 Bill, retired machinist from Mount Airy Maryland
Hi From Brazil just retired here at 74 and love cars and love to restore taking my time because I am no expert. However Chad has given me great strides in welding techinques and how to be creative with what you have . Aqwesome Chad and Jolene
Even with the heavy grit sand paper fiberglass is a pain to sand. Even though you don’t know me Chad I do love your teaching and want you around for a long time. Please consider PPE. When working. Love both you a Jolene.
I don’t understand why would you put fiberglass on a metal car that is a old car they were made of metal if someone put fiberglass on it you should of took it down to the metal I’m not sure you no what your doing
You make a real good teacher ! With your kind instructions and poining out how you make the car right and tight and how to apply and sand fillers . Your awesome Chad I've learned lots from your tutelage ! Thumbs-up Jolene I'd give you a apple for the teacher any day ! Cheers Chad I'm always watching !
The College of Bodywork knowledge. Learn so much about welding sheet metal and body work and being creative. Jolene read your mind and it's like we're in the room following you around she's absolutely perfect I doing that simcredible. Lemoore California
It would be great for you to have a remote mounted vacuum / dust collector , and piping into shop, so you can silently suck away dust ( as we do in marine boat yards ) you only get one pair of lungs.
Hey Chad your doing awesome at explaining, my husband and I love watching you every day from Prince Edward Island. Jolene, you do awesome as well with your videoing, and when you help Chad. Wonder how many women watch, I know I love it.
Thankyou Chad and Jolene, just started watching your channel, I live in Niagara Falls. Enjoying the metal work you have been doing and teaching the techniques and not having to spending big money in tools to get bye. Thankyou, I am in the process in restoration of my 1973 roadrunner, my first car I bought back in 1981 as a young kid and still have to this very day. Great job and thankyou for helping me save money in my restoration.
Sounds like great fun. If your first restoration I suggest plenty of planning ahead. Maybe one project at a time. ie: Brakes Suspension Running gear Interior Etc etc. the idea is that you don’t want to end up with a big pile of parts and get overwhelmed. So many projects end up, never finished. I always tell my first timers to try and keep the car as close to running/driving condition if it all possible. Otherwise your dream car can easily turn into a nightmare. If you are an experienced builder, just disregard all my comments. Either way best of luck and please work safe
I have, bought everything for suspension, body mounts etc. Everything and then some had to buy a shed just to store all the new parts. Not my first barbecue, thankyou.
Thank You for another valuable lesson in body fill. I like how the resin enriched fill glides on so smooth. It doesn't look like your pressing down to get the smooth result. Thank You for again how you what is a sometimes difficult process easy or easier.
Joleen, IF YOU CARE FOR CHAD AND I THINK YOU DO, YOU MUST TALK HIM INTO WEARING A MASK AND TAKE OTHER STEPS TO PROTECT HIS HEALTH. BELIEVE ME I KNOW FIRST HAND HOW DANGEROUS IT IS BREATHING ALL THE DUST AND OTHER FUMES. OTHER FANS HAVE SAID THE SAME THINGS TO HIM AND I SEE NO CHANGE.
Maybe he doesn't wear a mask is he knows his lungs are already damaged..fina show not be allowed in the sanding room.just because you can't see it it doesn't mean it's not there.i bet Gene windfeild wears a mask. That's why he is in his 90s.
Chad has mentioned multiple times that he normally wears a mask when he's doing work off camera. He's also stated that it's difficult to talk and explain things when wearing a mask while filming. I'm sure he knows the risk and manages it accordingly. I've never considered him to be "ignorant". You know, lacking knowledge or awareness. 🤔🤨🤫
This is much better than a 1 show build that is just about TV and not showing how you find the car one day be able to drive and enjoy not being a argument for the owners that loved the car it's definitely worthy to be in running condition and enjoying it with your family and friends
I’ve been watching this channel since the beginning, and I never ever miss an episode, and still, I am so impressed how much bad Chad gets done in one hour !! it absolutely blows my mind 🤯🤯😝😝 bad chad and queen Jolene is by far my favorite UA-cam channel and I would like to thank you for sharing your knowledge !! ❤✌🏼😎🥇🥇🥇
Bad Chad's body work and grinding all makes sense and I am still trying to perfect the routine.. I'm working on my old truck that I purchased from California but I reside in Cobourg ON. Thank you surgeon Bad Chad and camera star Jolene.. 😁
You can sandblast auto sheet metal with absolutely no damage if you understand what warps the metal , but I would not recommend it for an amateur . As you said ( You would warp it ) . I sandblasted all metal work in my restoration business for over 30 years with no damage . Overheating the metal causes warpage and that is caused by several things . Always blast at an angle at least eight inches away with no more than 100 pounds pressure and don't stay in one area . Constantly move around the panel to eliminate too much heat in one area. And I don't use regular sandblast sand . I buy play sand at Home Depot because it is less abrasive and is better for your health since it is intended for kids to play in and does not contain the same health hazards . Play sand usually has dampness in the sand when you buy it so spread it out on clean concrete overnight to dry it out before you put it in the sandblaster to keep it from clogging . You have to understand that sandblasting sheetmetal is done different than sandblasting heavy metals such as wheels which are much harder to damage so just go careful with sheetmetal. I recommend practicing on an old junk body panel and you will catch on very quickly.
Thanks so much for your detail and different way of explaining things. I like the ocean analogy. Getting ready to paint my first vehicle a 32 year old GMC C1500 because no one wants to do it and it would be expensive if someone actually did it.
We are Snowbirds and we spend usually 6 mo. in Spokane, Wa. and 6 mo. in Tucson Az.. I have a '63 Dodge Power Wagon that i play with when we are in Spokane. I enjoy your show very much, and always learn something new. Thank you.

That mofoker looks so good… I’d swear that’s better than factory. I come to understand. I didn’t like every design From Ford,Chevy,Pontiac, caddy etc. but they made it that way. Chad, I'm that guy that sanded off and put back on !!!! Lol. Many years ago, I used to paint motorcycle parts. Even the new tanks and fenders had dents in them. A respectful comments and suggestion: Might it not have been an even better idea to extend the trunk forward for about the third of the width of the new paneling that you creaed? You would have had to re-locate the hinge mechanism (and that's as LOT of work), but I think the proportions would have been somewhat better. Excellent work!

I like all the talking about things that have nothing to do with what you are working on. I think a lot of us watching enjoy the entertainment side of the videos as much as the work.
Chad’s side remarks just add to the overall enjoyment. Don’t ask him to change, I think most of us like the lightheartedness of his delivery. These are instructional, sure, but don’t have to be dry, too.

On the sandblasting, it's when you get to close with the nosal and the pressure of the sand hitting the metal will make the metal warp. 😊

A continental tire kit on the back bumper would look good on that t bird Some continentals and Mercury’s Had a flat back window that would roll up and down. Like a Ford bronco or Chevy blazer back window

Listening to this sounds like the Bob Ross of body work :)
Chad and Jolin, I am addicted to your great job and video. I will keep watching 👍👍
Chad this is perfect , a fantastic job, learn so much you are a genius in this perfect build, thank you Chad, Jolene, Steve
🤣 glad you mentioned "air / oil in the tool".... I caught that yesterday😎
