Great work man, much appreciated. Especially timing the video sequence and music volume when you transitioned to and from the shipwreck photo.
Such a calm and poetic impressions video!
Great review, man!
I'm really thinking of buying this lens myself.
Keep up the great work, it's much appreciated!
Great video looking to get this lens for my a6500 thanks a lot.
Another amazing shot, I wish I lived in a area such as yourself to have these moments to capture. Great picture and video like always
Just bought this lens and am so excited. Never shot anything like this but I really want to. Thanks for explaining the details a bit.
Really great video, looking forward to see more from you.👍🏽
Great video, the shot you took was awesome.. what a great night to have been out :) and you explain everything so well, like it!
Thanks! One of my favorite things about landscapes is you never know what you're going to find when you show up.
Dustin Dilworth Yeah so true! I was on my way out to do a video... got there and mist had completely taken over and nothing could be seen, so i sadly had to bail 😅
Thanks for sharing! I have never really done any astrophotography, but the final image was just stunning to me.
Thanks for the kind words, Chris!
I love the color grading you did for this video
beautiful shot. Great video!
Bought this lens today for my A6000. Going to be so great taking northern light photos with this one :)
Hello Dustin, thank you very much for your video on the sigma 1.416 mm. I see it has been a few years since you made the video. I am new at this so I was hoping to find out if you have more videos concerning the a6000 and the sigma 1.4, for astrophotography?
Thanks again, mark
Beautiful!..Amazing footage. Thanks for sharing. Subbed! 👍👌
Really enjoyed this man. I love your style of commentary
Thanks Josh, I checked out your channel man, and you've got some great chops and machine-like timing! Love the song selections too.
Ahh cheers man! Really appreciate it! Look forward to your next vids dude :)
Beautiful shot.
thank you!! that's exactly what i needed to know!
Really nice review Dustin!!
Thank you!
Spectacular
Great video! Straight to the point, very relaxing style. Amazing!
It would've been cool if you had some more examples!
Thanks Rikkerd! Check out my newer video comparing the Sigma to the Rokinon 12mm, I even include some sample raw images to play with in the video description.
HOLY SHIT bro, that turned out amazing! i'm from the YOOP (escanaba) now in Florida. well done!
great freakn photos mate 👌
Thanks for this.
Really Great ! getting this lens soon ;)
Beautiful
incredible, good luck with your channel...
Can you please compare this with an adapted Tokina 11-16mm f2.8?
Hey man please if you could let me know how you took mulitple exposes that would help me out a lot! I have the a6000
Thanks for sharing Dustin! Did you post the final image on Flickr or somewhere else? I'd like to see it very much. It looks fantastic!
Thanks Glenio! I just posted it to Flickr and updated the description of the video to include a link.
Would I have good results with Sony A5100. I love astrophotography photos!
Hey. sorry I do not quite understand how you make 3 pictures? I have 6300 and the same lens. I bought not so long ago.. did not quite understand the settings.
Great video. Subscribed.
very nice!!!!
Would you recommend this lens for real estate with the Canon M50?
Damn that's a good photo.
What is the website/app you use to check for weather or the cloud? Seeking for a reliable source. Thanks
I use www.cleardarksky.com/csk/ ... It provides a very easy to use astronomers forecast. The chart is a bit odd at first, but once you learn how to read it, it's much more helpful compared to the regular weather report.
Thanks for watching! This is my first attempt at a review/impressions-type video and I hope you found it helpful. In the coming days I'd like to create a comparison of the Rokinon 12mm vs the Sigma 16mm in more ideal and darker conditions, pushing the ISO and the shutter speed to further extremes. Feel free to post any questions of course! And you can purchase the Sigma 16mm f1.4 here: goo.gl/Ndnro5
AFAIK pushing the ISO very high is pointless with our almost ISOless Sony alpha cameras if you shoot raw and post process a photo. According to the tests I've seen, ISO 3200 is the same as ISO 400 pushed 3 stops in post in regard of image quality.
That's interesting! I'll have to investigate that. When I'm out shooting I can't help but notice the increased ISO sensitivity brings out more stars, but this is on the back of the camera. I'll definitely have to compare shooting at ISO 400 vs ISO 3200, for instance, and see if ISO 400 can bring out as many stars when I actually process the RAW photo in post. Thanks!
Looking forward for that comparison, was waiting for someone to do it! Thanks!
Dustin Worth bro honw many apperture you used when shooting that scene?
What sort of app/software did you use to edit the photo?
Hey Jerrol, I took my 5 photo bracketed shots and merged them to HDR in lightroom. Then I made some minor exposure adjustments, then used adjustment brushing to balance out the exposure for the sky / bridge / boat so that everything looked good to my eye.
anybody knows what camera he used?
He said Sony A6300.
How do you combine multiple photos?
There are different methods to this. But for this photo I selected all of them in Lightroom > right clicked > merge to HDR
Thanks, just about to ask the same question
I tried my Sony 18-105 mm f/4 to set to 18 mm and shoot stars. It is terrible choice - close to the edges, there is terrible coma aberration aside chromatic aberration. I hope that Sigma 16mm f/1.4 has no such issue.
I'm planning to get 18-105 g lens for my a6400... I'm skeptical about its low light performance... I'm like astrophotography and low light photos... Is the Sony lens any good or should I get Sigma 16mm for low light ok photography ?
I am still in doubt between Rokinon 14 mm, F/2.8 and Sigma 16 mm F/1.4. But as I see new videos of night sky, I think that Sigma 16 mm can win easily. Thanks.
You’re welcome. Do keep in mind that the 14mm Rokinon is a full frame lens. It’s pretty great if you’re shooting full frame astrophotography but I think the closer comparison for APS-C would be the 12mm Rokinon for crop sensors. Should be clear skies this weekend so I’m planning on doing a direct comparison.
I have no choice for full frame, since my new Sony a6300 is all I have now. I do not mind some vignetting nor mild chromatic aberration (okay not much). For now, on rare clear night, I am using old Canon 17-85 mm EFS F/ 4-5.6 stuck on 5.6 due to broken electronic inside. So, F/1.4 will be huge refreshing to me. Just... need to find nice spot without light pollution, which is not easy. Thank you again.
For sure! Shooting stars at f4 is a bit more difficult, so if you were to get a lens with a wide aperture like this and low noise pollution you'll be amazed with the results I'm sure!
This boat is with 16mm!!!!??????
To much amateur color grade
To much amateur English...
