I just watched 3 videos back to back all talking about different ways to get over the fear and all of them have been different. I like yours the most because you learn another skill that you probably need to know anyway, before hand!

no way I just found this video now, I actually did my 1st & last back handspring while doing continuous kip ups back in 2010 & kip ups used to be my favorite move at that time. Now I think I'm gonna learn doing kip ups again. Great videos man, I love how you show a different variations on how to learn back handspring & any other flips.

This method is better because first of all, learning the suicide kip up is much easier and less scary and, second of all, you won't have a habit of turning when doing back handsprings.

Dude, that's like the best way I've ever seen it explained! I can do one on a trampoline but I've never moved to the ground because I don't want to crack my skull open. I can do a kip up too, so you may have just given me the missing piece to something I've wanted to learn for a LONG time bro! THANK YOU!

  • @gigagines

This is the one technique that worked for me back then too. It works because when you see it and think about how it will help you learn the move (back handspring), everything inside you just click. If you feel that click, go do it.
A tip for tucking your head when practicing this move is to LOOK AT YOUR BELLY BUTTON. That'd automatically make you tuck your head, and you can just focus on catching yourself without worrying.
    Hope this helps.

I get the idea and momentum for a kip up, but my mobility at the age of 52 must be severely restricting my ability to get my hands far enough back behind my head to be able to push up off the ground. Is there a sweet spot where your hands need to be to kip up? Are they close to your head or wider than shoulder width?
