  • Kelly developed the Nancy P as a crayfish pattern, but it seems to fish just as well as a general attractor - Even places where there are no crayfish residing. This fly is fished most effectively with moderate twitches or on a vertical jig to let those rabbit strips flow in and out of the body. Not only is this a great streamer for trout anglers, but it is also a must for Bass and other warm water species.

    I'm a reformed gear boy. Used to flip jigs and soft plastic craws for largemouth all the time. That was about 4 years ago. So that being said I know the affect a crawdad can have on a bass or any fish for that matter. This is an amazing fly and everyone should have a few in their box! Thanks for the video! Also if anyone watching is currently a gear boy repent, accept salvation and go buy a 9ft 7wt and chuck some Nancy P's for largies...you won't be disappointed!

    It is quite simple but a great idea, what is the size of the eye screw that is attached to the Renzetti materials clip?

  • @altair0990
    @altair0990 5 років тому +1

    Any reason the eyes are tied to make the fly ride hook point down? Seems like a great pattern for smallies, but I'd be tempted to try to make it ride hook point up, and/or use a jig hook on the front.

    Lads, loved this video. Im in NZ and yeah, the fish do love these too. I couldn't get my claws to flair.. now I know.
    Funny you mention the Nancy works even in rivers with no Crayfish, I fish a local river, never seen a crayfish. But they smash this thing. All Black version been workin for me. Cheers.

    Hi Kelly, do you think this fly would work on a jig hook like S506 size 1 with a weed guard for bass, call it the "Bass-Turd P"

    Kelly on this one you talk about the importance of setting your articulation with to avoid twisting. I've struggled with that with horizontal eyes and front hook bend. On a recent fly you presented a MFC hook with a vertical eye much like a jig hook. Any movement on rear hooks designed in this manner so articulation wires can be set on the sides of the front hook and not be impeded by its hook bend? Thanks

    Hi from the UK, really like watching your video's Thank you so much for the work you and your team put into it, I do have a question, in the UK a lot of our waters limit us to a size 10 hook which is fine for natural patterns,but if you had to fish a lure/streamer on a size 10 hook what would you tie?
    Thanks again

    Psssst Kelly, Didn't you get that kid Brammer started in this sickness? From what he said you did. Oh ya one other thing, why are there so many good tiers from Michigan? You, Gunnar, Mike Schmidt, Maddin, the list goes on. Is there something in the water up north?

    • @aricheath3670
      @aricheath3670 5 років тому +2

      Pssst Johnny, the water freezes in the winter, giving them a s#!t ton of time to tie. ;)

    • @johnnylightning1491
      @johnnylightning1491 5 років тому

      Aric,
      Actually a lot of the water in Michigan doesn't freeze in the winter, mostly streams and rivers which is where most folks trout fish. As a matter of fact if I get my honey-do list done today, OK, maybe just make a good dent in it, I may go fishing in a local creek.

    • @TheSlideinn
      @TheSlideinn  5 років тому +4

      Ev, I can see why you would think that. The original ties (7 years ago) had problems with the rabbit strips fouling around the hook until we changed the angle of how we tied them in. Hasn't fouled up ever since then. Give it a shot in any piece of water where you find crayfish and I bet you'll change your mind. - John
