    Im currently going through a pretty rough bout of depression and anxiety and a huge part of my coping mechanism is tying. Sometimes at night ill set up a vice in bed and tie. To help wind down. Todays choice was the sex dungeon. I live south of the PM in Michigan and have been watching you tye for awhile would love to fish Michigan waters with you. But I appreciate the video couldnt figure out how you were getting the white heads.

    The important functional parts of the fly are so well explained by Kelly: He gives the reasons for doing a step in the One Way that works best. Color, ect not so important, but the way the fly swims is everything. Great tutorials. Might even persuade me to do a little less bass fishing and try for some big brown trout (no 8 inch stocked rainbows, please).

    Can’t believe you’ve got rid of the porno ‘tache lol. Just more face space for the dubbing to annoy. Fantastic pattern guys, finished article looks the business and probably one of your best tutorials to date imo. Picked up another few tips from this one and have tonight ordered more GSP. Suits deer hair perfectly and I’ve eased up on the cussing with zero break offs.

    I love this video by the way! I've watched it several times and seeing you without your mustache is kind of growing on me. ;-) And you know, I don't care what Johnny says, you are actually a pretty good looking dude without it... But just tell me one more thing; were you able to resist the temptation to use the hair from your stash in one or more of your dubbing blends? ;-)

    • @TheSlideinn
      @TheSlideinn  5 років тому +1

      FH, I really don't know, not much. As I read this it struck funny that we don't talk about the weight, just the size which is med, large etc. which really tells us nothing at all. Kinda like B split shot or BB, one is twice as big but it is all visual not weight ? Looking for grain scale, large lead eye= 21.3 grains .050 oz. there now we know.Thanks, Kelly

    If I made the head out of laser dub, how would that affect the fly’s action?

    • @TheSlideinn
      @TheSlideinn  2 роки тому +1

      It would impart more of an up and down motion in the head, as the deer hair creates a neutral buoyancy.

    I tied up a few of these and put them in my box with all my other buggers and a few days later I noticed all my white feathers are now yellow including my barely legals. Is there a trick to keeping white feathers white? I like to travel light so keeping separate boxes for white and colored is not a realistic option for me.

    • @TheSlideinn
      @TheSlideinn  6 років тому +1

      Ryan, there are a couple options. What is happening is the olive from another bug is bleeding into the white. Separate drying box is what I use, or you can wash all you olive and black marabou before you tie with it, only takes a few minutes and gets the original bleeding done so it doesn't happen in the later. You just wash the marabou in dawn and let it sit for 15 20 minutes and then let it dry, blow dry it, or if you have a fine mesh nylon bag that you can seal the top with you can put them in that and throw them in the dryer. Make damn sure the top stays sealed, said the guy who had one that did not and all his feathers went out the dryer shoot. You can also just wash the flies darker flies before you use them and get the dye out of them. KG

    bravo...i like the clean cut look..a top hat and a cane soon to follow? lately ive done my dungeons by spinning white pine squirrel strips or white mink strips..i trap a piece in a dubbing loop and carefully cut the hide section off and a few spins of the dubbing whirler it turns into a fantastic chenille thats very symetrical and i just wrap it behind and in front of the eyes and usually just very little trimming is needed..after doing prob 75 of them i can get em just bout perfect with no trimming..i like the squirrel better on the smaller sizes mostly but i do my big ones too..i saw the length of this video and put my jammies on and made a bowl of popcorn..this was like renting a movie on netflix..

    Late comment, but I’ve heard that if you have moth’s or beetles in a material, if you put them in the microwave for 2-5 seconds it will kill them. Not sure as it’s hearsay, but it’d be worth a shot if you find it early and don’t want to throw it out without an attempt to save it.

    So there I am watching this video, tying one of these up in white. My 9 year old daughter walks in, says "Daddy what is that one called?" Me: Ummmmm it's called the dungeon. Her " shouldn't it be black? Dungeons are dark places, why is it called a dungeon? It's a bright fly." Me: thinking as quickly as possible.... Ummmmmm. Cause if you think of the darkest hole in the river, it's designed to catch the boss fish of the dungeon hole... Her " ok daddy" phew glad the title of the video wasn't on.
