For the likeness, they can use the Ben Affleck likeness due to the figure still being under the BvS contract/license. For the Flash, no toy company was able to get Ben Affleck's likeness rights for their figures which is similar to the Andrew Garfield likeness situation with Hot Toys releasing a 2.0 of the TASM 2 suit under the TASM 2 license and not under the No Way Home license.
This is gon be another hot toys vs Inart competition. Now they have announced this with these first pics, they will see what everyone is saying, make improvements and revisions, and then so will Inart with their version. It will be a long battle and very drawn out for a very long time but in the end we win as collectors getting something ultimately we want. I’m just happy these two companies are releasing figures from BVS, the trinity! As far as this new version goes from HT, I agree there are a lot of areas I think need revisions : - the musculature throughout the body looks weirdly over emphasized. - the alignment of the belt buckle to the pouches looks off centered the buckle needs to come down a bit to the middle - the gold looks too bright needs to be a bit weathered darkened more - the cape texture looks strange doesn’t match, also it sits way too wide at the shoulders - the coloring of the grey suit should have more hints of that blueish grey and gold throughout - gauntlets on the forearms look too stiff and too straight should be more curved - the overall shape of the upper body to the waist to the legs all looks too straight needs to come out and come back in more giving more of a V shape more muscular. This body shape is way too flat looking. - head looks too small, the shape is too round too much of a ball shape and the neck is way too skinny. Also, the cowl needs to come way down he has “giraffe neck” this makes him look way less intimidating. The good things I do like: - unmasked headsculpts look nice 👍🏻 - the accessories Like others have said, Inart will be releasing theirs so I definitely won’t be pre ordering anything at this time but instead will wait this out for when the dust settles.
I still have my 31 in and 19 inch Batfleck figures from Jakks. that I've customized of course. i would rather just do that than spend countless money on those figures. and the head sculpts are awesome
I welcome 2.0's in the hobby when it improves. This Affleck is not 100% accurate, but it's definitely improved. The landscape of 1/6 scale has definitely changed. I speculate Hot Toys dropped Affleck before InArt can drop theirs, because a few months ago InArt dropped their Cavill Superman and they're definitely going to eventually make Affleck's Batman down the line. Ledger's Joker was also a shot at each other, and now JND is tapping into 1/6 scale with another Ledger Joker. The market is becoming swarmed. All these companies are trying to one up each other. Hot Toys being the oldest of the bunch.
The Ben Affleck headsculpts look a tiny bit older than what he actually looked like in BvS. The extra wrinkles to the forehead rather resemble how he looked in the Snyder Cut, not BvS.
I feel like there is no need to pre-order any Hot toys anymore. Once a figure releases and it's in the consumers hand sadly they are not even worth nowhere near retail anymore. I'll wait until he is on the second hand market . And you still have to modify this figure.
You definitely missed the deluxe accessories with the head turning cowl and the diorama base. Would probably be better going forward to mention the deluxe accessories also. For me it's a yes, as I don't own the original, but would like to complement the armoured and knightmare versions I've got :D
I wish actual released Toys from Hot Toys matched these photos. Recent RoboCop 3 figure turned out to be a disaster compared to photos they have released prior. I bet the actual figure of this won't look as good.
The eyes aren’t actually interchangeable on this figure. They went with the separate rolling eyes on both the Bruce Wayne and the Batman head (which Hot Toys is doing on almost every figure now). The older version had the interchangeable eyes.
The deluxe edition is certainly worth the extra (approx) £80. You get a nice diorama, a second, wired, cape and a rotatable cowl. On the cowl, hopefully we can tilt it, tucking the chin in towards the neck. I say this because to my eyes, the neck looks a tad on the long side, which in turn makes the cowl look not beefy enough.
You didn’t address the flaking issue. Even if it’s 2.0, HT never confirm that they have change the suit material. Thus, you will get this one flaking eventually. I would definitely wait for the InArt one. So a nay for me unless InArt doesn’t continue their BVS line. Btw, whats up with this new channel and what happen with Cosplay Chris?
Hopefully I could, I’d get at least one! I would most definitely get 2 to keep one in box. But if I can get 1 to be the first one for my 1/6 action figure that I want to start I will 100% get it.

I have to admit, I'm not an Affleck fan and I initially really didn't like this suit when BvS first came out (I'm a long ears guy what can I say), but I've really come around on this suit and I might end up picking this up.
