Tesla FSD faces yet another probe after fatal low-visibility crash The Register® - Biting the hand that feeds IT Offbeat 67 comment bubble on white Tesla FSD faces yet another probe after fatal low-visibility crash Musk’s camera-only approach may not be a great idea after all? iconBrandon Vigliarolo Fri 18 Oct 2024 // 18:37 UTC Tesla is facing yet another government investigation into the safety of its full self driving (FSD) software after a series of accidents in low-visibility conditions. In its latest opening resume [PDF] into a Tesla FSD investigation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that it's taking a look at Tesla self-driving systems due to four accidents, one involving an injury and another fatally striking a pedestrian. All four accidents occurred in "an area of reduced roadway visibility conditions" with FSD, either beta or supervised, engaged. "In these crashes, the reduced roadway visibility arose from conditions such as sun glare, fog, or airborne dust," the NHTSA noted, adding that it was opening the inquiry to assess "the ability of FSD's engineering controls to detect and respond appropriately to reduced roadway visibility conditions."In addition, the NHTSA will examine if any further accidents, aside from the four mentioned, are linked to FSD's poor performance in low-visibility conditions. The agency will also review whether Tesla implemented any changes to FSD that could have worsened its ability to handle such scenarios. The investigation includes all 2016-2024 Model S and X vehicles, 2017-2024 Model 3, 2020-2024 Model Y and 2023-2024 Cybertrucks outfitted with FSD, covering around 2.4 million vehicles. Maybe removing all those sensors wasn't a great idea after all? Tesla owner Elon Musk has had a long-standing opposition to the use of things like ultrasonic sensors, radar and lidar in his quest to achieve unassisted full self driving, instead preferring AI and cameras to do the job. The EV maker has since committed entirely to computer vision, eliminating additional sensors in its latest model year vehicles. That means that aside from being able to see in the dark like most modern cameras, Tesla vehicles are ostensibly just as good at seeing in fog, sun glare or excess airborne dust as a human driver, with the added caveat that it's an AI making the decision, not a human.
With respect, I think Tesla fumbled a bit. What they presented is absolutely amazing. Instead of 40 minutes of screen saver, why not live feeds from dozens of Teslas driving FSD 12.5.x all over North America? (After the event I drove my Model Y between Los Angeles and Oxnard round trip twice in five days. 180 miles. I touched the steering while two or three times during those trips. Zero fatigue. Absolutely amazing. NO ONE KNOWS HOW GOOD FSD IS. So 1. the event should've started with just how amazing FSD has become. Two, the trope, true or not, 'when Elon is on stage alone, take whatever he says with a grain of salt.' Maybe it's nonsense. So what. The other part of that trope is, when other Tesla team leaders are on stage with him and presenting, it's got more credibility. So why not do this? Three, They should've announced that the Optimus bots would be teleoperated, have others roped off functioning autonomously. I watched it thinking that I hadn't heard anything said by an Optimus because it just sounded like a person. What then happened was the 'idiots' (to use Sandy's term) when they figured it out jumped all over it calling it fake. The movement control and facility, was amazing. Teleoperating didn't undermine what we saw, except it wasn't made clear. (The Optimus video Tesla just released has an 'Autonomous' label in the upper right corner of the frame. That's the way to do this. ) In the end, of course the share price dropped. Meh. What this is is another chance to invest in Tesla at a steep discount. Which is good. The bottom line of course is no matter if you think Tesla is good or bad at shown'n'tell, they've got the future five years ahead of everybody else. (And caveat. Musk's deep involvement with a particular political candidate could send the stock all over the place for the next month. In the end it will settle down and eventually sky rocket again. Musk and his guy may win or lose, but FSD owns autonomous driving, Optimus, by applying FSD, will also soon be dominant. Robotaxi? Same. Robovan? Great. Could replace a lot of municipal runs. For a minute I thought, I should've gone to the event. (It's near where I live.) But then for weeks, I've been driving hands off, relaxing, at freeway speeds, in heavy Los Angeles traffic....
Except that the first thing he talks about are how the robots are dancing and not bumping into people. The robots were remote controlled by human beings. They were not autonomous. Maybe he doesn't know as much as he thinks he does.
Now to play devils/Sandy’s advocate; The most amazing thing about the whole presentation was ‘nothing’. No injuries or accidents, no major fails; no big deal. And there were plenty of opportunities to fail; the bots, the bots dancing, the cars mixing with people, people touching and interacting with the taxies. All in all, it was truely amazing having no fails.
@@dogtato I think the remote controlled bots, the remote controlled cars, only allowing VIP’s to be in the live audience, the lack of details, the lack of model 2, the bleh presentation by Musk, the lack of questions and the implications that hardware 3 cars won’t get FSD; are enough reasons for most people.
@@ClayBellBrewsyou’re so out of touch. The Robotaxis were all working autonomously and the Optimus bots were mainly working autonomously but had minders around them for safety who also had the control over some minor functions for the sake of eliminating anything going wrong in this environment, though they released a video following day showing all of these actions could be done autonomously. As for hardware 3, it’s virtually guaranteed to be compatible. Hardware 4 and AI5 have some added functionality which will be replicated in programs for the #3. But for heaven’s sake, if you don’t believe in it, don’t invest in Tesla. Elon has stated this on a number of occasions. Just don’t criticise things in ignorance, inform yourself before levelling this kind of criticism.
@@ClayBellBrewsany a small part of what the bots did was remote control. Most like the walking and dancing was all autonomous the cars were all autonomous. Hardware 3 will get FSD. Tesla has said this over and over again. Releasing the model 2 would be an absolutely stupid idea and would kill 3 and y sales. Hopefully they can hide it till it's almost ready to ship
@AdamWellinformed It truly is embarrassing to see how dumb some Americans are. Sandy is most likely a large Tesla stockholder and paid Tesla pumper ,so most likely has a vested interest. Thank you! I feel the exact same way, as there is no true competitor to Tesla at this moment in time, and the technology will only get better and better, and so most people particular the boys and girls on WallStreet, don’t seem to understand what this Tesla vision thing is all about, and what Sandy and others have learned, is that it is never a good idea to bet against Elon Musk, as he has demonstrated a type of ability to do things and accomplish things that no one else has done or willing to do for that matter. So hating on Elon Musk will not change the fact that Musk is the only CEO on the planet, that’s talking about self driving cars, saving the planet, and going to Mars. Comphrende. Cheers 🥂
Haters are going to hate and as he pointed out, most of them have done nothing but bag on those who have done things. When the haters come out, it's a good indicator that the winners are winning.

Please never stop :) Anyway, one of the reasons I went electric is because I was tired of getting out in the cold here in Australia, driving to the petrol station and filling up the tank with pricey dinosaur juice. Now, we have 2 Model 3s at home and we just charge in the garage, but having induction charging would make it so much easier.
Dear Mr. Munro, I'm writing to express my sincere admiration for your work in the automotive industry. Your engineering expertise is evident in your Tesla's design descriptions, and I have a deep respect for your contributions to the field. Wireless charging is not fast charging. Its primary benefit is being able to charge without plugging in and unplugging the car when it is parked. It is certainly an improvement. "Inductive" charging that involves two pads being bought together is faster than wireless charging, however, it is still much slower than DC charging.
@@ViniciusMiguel1988 New inductive chargers achieve within 1% the same efficiency than regular "cabled" chargers! That's why nobody but you is talking about energy losses.
I see a few other advantages to inductive charging: 1. No cable to be stolen, nothing that can be easily sabotaged or fail, resulting in much higher availability and lower maintenance costs. 2. Easily implementable on every curbside parking space in cities, with all the advantages of point 1. Just park your car... or rather let it park itself... input the parking space number in an app... and the car will be recharged overnight as you sleep, It solves the problem of people that cannot home-charge. You'll also find your car the next morning pre-cooled to your liking in the summer, or pre-warmed and de-frosted in the winter! 3. No clumsy charging cable in your garage. Although, that's rather a detail. 4. No charging port and door to fail or be frozen stuck... or to be on the wrong side of the car! A fully solid-state system. As far as charging speed is concerned, I read that inductive charging can reach "300 kW and higher"... which, if true and applicable to cars, would be more than sufficient to replace DC fast-chargers.
I was blown away by the CyberTruck coupe design, it looked like the future. A few years from now everyone will be copying Tesla. The Robovan looks amazing, and yes it does look like iRobot a bit, so what, no one else dare to do it, to take that chance. Tesla is really way ahead of the game!
As soon as Sandy said "limousine" I was like "OH MY GOD" RoboVan will be the #1 pick for weddings etc. All the 5 star hotels will need them for fancy pants events and hollywood crap or get demoted to 4 star.
Tesla hate everywhere.lol This is what makes the accomplishments Tesla makes even better. Tesla is smart knowing that all 3 products, robovan, taxi and bot are going to benefit them first. They will literally be their first customer. The robot will be their labour force before anyone else's. This will drop the production cost astronomically.
I didn't know this Tesla demo was to demonstrate the 2 door Tesla model 2 in heavy traffic. As a bus driver I can tell you cars, bikes and pedestrian traffic is unpredictable sometimes. So, the level of tech preventing all these object hitting each other is impressive. 😮
I’m a woman who has watched almost all of your tear downs and Tesla shows. I think you’d be surprised to see how many women want to see how things work.
My problems with 20kW+ inductive car charging are 1. Energy losses, good systems get about 90% effective, one the plus side you wont get cut wires on those, it's better with autonomy since you dont need to plug in. 2. You need a high power rectifier the car, increasing weight and cost 3. Radiation/interference from high power inductive charging in cities. You have to be very careful with other devices (and talking 50-100kW+, also meat!) in vicinity.
Yeah. Inductive charging makes some sense with small devices like phones. But when you're talking high voltage devices like cars with distance between the induction coil and the device, it's just not the greatest idea. Definitely not a viable solution for a home user. But autonomous fleets? It starts to make sense there.
@@scythelord a high power induction charger will have to close the gap to the car by extending upwards to the car. The closer Antenna und receiver, the less losses you get. But e.g. 200kW fast charging via induction? Thats professional Radar grade radiation and can cause LOTS of harm... I once saw a bird flying in front of a radar dish and fall dead to the ground
I was thinking Sandy would not make this mistake but this is not inductive charging. This is resonant charging which has comparable losses to the cable charging. And the reason the charging was only 19KW is probably the power connection there was not good enough. Ultimetly they will probably do it up to 50KW.

Sandy is great. He is a wealth of information about the car manufacturing industry. The comment about the FAA and SpaceX launch licenses is about politics, which Sandy is not right about. The launch license action was for a short period of time in line with SpaceX's own assessment of an incident with a second stage engine relight failure.
I also thought the the robotaxi would be the Tesla 2. The robovan is the next Amazon cargo van. airport shuttle, city bus and school bus. With no human interventions the vehicle would be safer leading to reduction in insurance.
About the van you said you love the styling, didn’t get a chance to ride in it and were blown away by „everything“. That pretty much sums up what we learned about the van. Nothing. We knew they’re working on a van previously. Unfortunately we only got to see the design. Yes, the writers have no idea. But me as a 2016 all in Tesla investor know one or two things about the company and this was their worst event yet. „Prototypes are easy, production is hard“ This is what Elon said years ago. That mindset has clearly changed to prototypes are enough for an event.
Also since 2016 gamblers have not understood anything about motivation, vision, mission and party when it’s time to appreciate what is done. So only stupid idiots ask for cheap 25‘000 USD cars causing as much effort than selling a founders edition CT for over 100‘000 USD at a good profit for you too. Than selling 220‘000 more ‚cars‘ in Q2 than reported? Have you ever remarked yet that Tesla sold that profit with PowerPacks? What do you really not understand as a shareholder? I was mostly impressed of how cities could look like with lesser cars. This must be the aim and CyberCab is the answer. There is now way in that worldwide political and economic situation to be more forefront due to existing regulations that must be changed first. But how with final products? Are you so silly to not understand greedy hypocrisy and envious reactions of all the others? This ‚show’ was just perfect to show what is coming but not yet the secret details for all competition able to copy anyhow not few, and all well hidden by the Hollywood touch! But the content was no joke at all and very real for people like Sandy Munro and me as consultant and once European Marketing Executive of the biggest St. Paul based visionary and still innovative company founded back in 1906!
Cybercabs weren't a prototype. If they plan on reaching volume production in 2026 (that's what they stated on Q3 call) it's basically almost ready to ramp.

You skipped over quite a couple of legitimate criticisms: a) The robots - as impressive as their mechanics seem to be - were obviously pupeteered/remote controlled. Until an AI controls them like they appeared is still quite a while away. b) the atrocious inefficiency of inductive charging. Sure, it's the non-plus-ultra of convenience, but some robot arm that plugs your car in would be overall better? c) Tesla has been promising full self driving "soon" for...almost a decade now? So a healthy dose of scepticism in order, I wager. The annoying thing to me is that the presented things really seem very cool, but they just seem to have used all the sexy stuff to completely wash out the legit concerns.
There were so many issues besides all the blatant deception taking place at the reveal but Sandy just pretends not to see despite his expertise. Wall St reacted they way it did because it would appear we are quite a few years off from seeing any of these in real numbers (as opposed to the fake Tesla Semi).
A) don’t know to what extent they were controlled. Was the individual in a body suit controlling every single part or were they simply clicking the parking button and having it do the rest. B) inductive charging isn’t atrociously inefficient. With new advancements it’s within 90% as efficient as wired. But what you didn’t mention was that DC fast charging losses efficiency as well so honestly if we are ok with those losses for convenience then we are fine with other conveniences. C) what are you talking about, it’s already out and working. These aren’t small tasks and missed promise dates for something one can’t really offer a legitimate timeframe for is understandable. They are accomplishing goals others have yet to dream of. But sure he promised some stuff it took longer to deliver on, but hey he’s brought economies of scale to satellite internet, lands rockets, and has delivered electric cars that cost less than the average car.
@@KTMcaptain _"don’t know to what extent they were controlled..."_ *ALL* of it... They are not "robots", they were human-controlled mannequins. It was all pathetically easy-to-spot smoke & mirrors. I would be surprised if Tesla goes with Carbon Fiber for the Robo Taxi body. I do think there is a good chance it will be plastic--just not something as brittle and expensive as CF. My guess is they will want to eliminate the paint shop so color will be molded in. Maybe similar to the Pontiac Fiero--SMC and RIMM?
All yall haters can stop it. I just appreciate Sandy just has not a shred a doubt in Tesla despite Cybertruck, as 1 example, being 3 years late and double the expected price. Where is your sense of wonder?
Sandy Munro, I absolutely love your knowledge, engineering experience, and I watch your you tubes to get the truth on electric vehicles!!!! Your opinion is required
Inductive charging is nice in many ways, but I've never heard it cslled fast. You mention the Qi charging in cell phones: that takes 4-5x longer than plugging in wired charging. That's down time.
Yeah, it's inefficient, at max 90, normally 75%. I much prefer the Kuka robot arm that finds the charging port, which is much more efficient. Or pantograph-like systems (like BYD does for buses). Inductive charging only makes sense for city robotaxis with very regular, short, and busy routes. That way, you can buffer-charge the fleet bit by bit throughout the day-autonomously-and perhaps more reliably because there are inherently fewer moving parts. The Kuka arm might break down, or one charging station would always need someone on standby to maintain or manually plug in vehicles. This would totally negate the whole purpose of 'robo'-taxis. The fleet will have a system where vehicles rotate through town so that one vehicle makes a 20-15 minute stop while another completes routes.
Tesla bought and sold Wiferion, a German Wireless charging company for AMRs/AGVs. They have a charging pad system with 12kW with 93% efficiency. But they need a positioning tolerance under 40mm. But the newly shown Optimus update shows charging via PINs or it is a positioning guide.

One thing that Sandy didn’t mention was the variability of what can be included in the Robovan. When he was talking about family use, it seems to me that like NYK determined the van is a platform that can include equipment carrying, wheel chair usage, bed accommodation, tool access, other handicap/accessibility desires, etc. The range may be limited by the top speed but the it can be more needs based then mentioned. This also applies to repair services, food services, etc. that exist in the city. It lends itself to some of the ideas surfaced by the Canoo vehicle.

Sandy, I think the Tesla Design Team should consider something like the following: Since the Cybercab is steer, accelerate, and brake by wire, they could possibly consider installing a driver control module in the center console. The module could include a F-16 style joy stick and control buttons. The existing screen could potentially provide rear and side mirror functionality. I have a handicapped friend who only drives her car using her hands. Airbag/vehicle safety systems should not have to be modified. I feel it is a good way to provide a drivable low cost opportunity for consumers :-). Government regulations would always be a challenge. Best of luck and thanks for all your great work!!

Count me as someone who was disappointed. There is a simple reason as to why. This event was held 10.10.2024, it should have been held 10.10.2025. Then you would be saying the Robotaxi will be on the road in months not years. I have heard Elon make the statement that prototypes are easy production is hard, then he shows me prototypes. So I am disappointed. I believe that the Semi will be in production by q2 of next year. There is a need for long haul busses, cement trucks, 40ft flatbeds, etc. How hard would it be to modify the Semi to meet these needs? It's not sexy, but neither is energy storage, it is needed, and needed now. A 24 passenger Robovan, cool but not really on the top line of needed.
last mile is the most expensive part of the supply chain process for transportation and long haul is cheaper. The van will be the most important part and especially in price.
@@ObstaclestoOpportunities Funny, we are all victims of the world around us. I am an American that lives in Korea. To me the last mile is solved. City busses have switched to BEV, delivery trucks made by Hyundai are BEV, guys deliver food with pedal asset electric bicycles. What is missing are the industrial vehicles and long haul busses.
@@Seoulhawk01 I secretly hope Tesla team up with other companies and help use these to produce an ad hoc bus route system making use of both the cab and the bus. Fixed bus routes are wasteful. What I hope someone comes up with is a very cheap subscription that gives you cheap daily fixed time drives + random drives with preorder. Discounts the more you walk. Integration into train networks. The dream!
Semi is essentially dead, it's over... Elon's ludicrous hype killed whatever small chance it had with industry. The ones that were "sold" were paid for by the California government via incentives to Frito-Lay.
I think the main 'problem' for Tesla right now is they made models with a very large customer base first, for obvious economical reasons, and have their few factories working at capacity pumping them out as it is. Making other vehicles would be child play for them at this stage since they make every drive train component in house, but they have no factory floor available to have a delivery truck line, van line, industrial cement/garbage truck etc line... The good news is both their texas and germany expansion plans have been greelit now, so maybe the new floor capacity will be used for that somewhere.
The event was a complete flop! The stock price dropped to what it was a year ago, losing all the gains from the last 30 days. And there was nothing about the $25k car, which is something the masses want. And no the cyber cab is not the Model 2, unless they change the doors and add more seats. Two seater vehicles have traditionally not done well for the masses, unless they are a sports car. But of course the cars in that optimized course didn't bang into things Sandy, something Waymo has bee doing for years on real streets with other car traffic. I thought the robots were cool at first until I realized they were being remotely operated, which is something Disney did at their parks like 40 years ago. Tesla is starting to fall behind and it's all because Elon spends too much time on social media with his political posts. There is a reason why Tesla keeps losing top executives. Elon needs to Focus more on Tesla or get someone else to run it. And again the robots you saw at the even were remotely controlled, that was blatantly obvious. Hopefully one day they won't be. But we will never see an $80k price tag to buy one. Clearly you're not up on the latest humanoid robot tech, because you only referred to the Boston Dynamics dog. But know as well as the rest of us that Elon always low balls prices and high balls specs, and what he delivers is over priced and under spec'd. This is the first video you've done that I completely disagree with you on. You've become such an Elon fanboy now and never disagree with anything he says or does.
Yea, he’s definitely a fan boy, likely owns some stock. Tesla won’t reach their full potential under Elon’s helm. Tesla FSD faces yet another probe after fatal low-visibility crash
Musk’s camera-only approach may not be a great idea after all?
iconBrandon Vigliarolo
Fri 18 Oct 2024 // 18:37 UTC
Tesla is facing yet another government investigation into the safety of its full self driving (FSD) software after a series of accidents in low-visibility conditions.
0:15 “They’re writers! They don’t know sh*t.”
Sandy is on fire & it is phenomenal!! Thank you
I had exactly the same sentiment.
That's the way to do this. )
In the end, of course the share price dropped.
Me too, we didn't have to wait long.@@153SCORN
A lot of the writers don't even know how to write
Except that the first thing he talks about are how the robots are dancing and not bumping into people. The robots were remote controlled by human beings. They were not autonomous. Maybe he doesn't know as much as he thinks he does.
Now to play devils/Sandy’s advocate; The most amazing thing about the whole presentation was ‘nothing’. No injuries or accidents, no major fails; no big deal. And there were plenty of opportunities to fail; the bots, the bots dancing, the cars mixing with people, people touching and interacting with the taxies. All in all, it was truely amazing having no fails.
@@ClayBellBrews the robots were controlled by humans. The cars were driving on a closed controlled set.
It was fraud.
sadly that's probably why some people were disappointed with the event

Wireless charging is not fast charging. Its primary benefit is being able to charge without plugging in and unplugging the car when it is parked. It is certainly an improvement.
"Inductive" charging that involves two pads being bought together is faster than wireless charging, however, it is still much slower than DC charging.
Also nobody is talking about the energy losses…
I have seen wireless car chargers that can charge with more than 50 kW with 96% efficiency
@@ViniciusMiguel1988 New inductive chargers achieve within 1% the same efficiency than regular "cabled" chargers! That's why nobody but you is talking about energy losses.
I see a few other advantages to inductive charging:

The fact they have steer-by-wire in the CT, gives the model 2 its easy addition of a wheel and pedals.
Sandy is a character - I love that guy. He's raw, shocking. This is what we need
My problems with 20kW+ inductive car charging are
1. Energy losses, good systems get about 90% effective, one the plus side you wont get cut wires on those, it's better with autonomy since you dont need to plug in.
2. You need a high power rectifier the car, increasing weight and cost

Cybercabs weren't a prototype. If they plan on reaching volume production in 2026 (that's what they stated on Q3 call) it's basically almost ready to ramp.
Those who know, do, those who understand, have always done, and appreciate, as seems to be the case of Mr. Sandy Answers, support, participate, and applaud! Fantastic! Need more? 💖💖💖👏👏👏👏👏👏🌟💐🗽
Why?
You skipped over quite a couple of legitimate criticisms:
a) The robots - as impressive as their mechanics seem to be - were obviously pupeteered/remote controlled.
Wall St reacted they way it did because it would appear we are quite a few years off from seeing any of these in real numbers (as opposed to the fake Tesla Semi).
a) they can do these things autonomously, they chose not to. As seen in their latest video released.

I’m with you Sandy. I was there and blown away and have that background and history of building product at scale. Tesla is making the best product in every category they decide to participate in and may be the only ones capable of delivering the scale required, period…
Tremendously unique feedback, Sandy, thanks a million
All yall haters can stop it. I just appreciate Sandy just has not a shred a doubt in Tesla despite Cybertruck, as 1 example, being 3 years late and double the expected price. Where is your sense of wonder?
Sandy Munro, I absolutely love your knowledge, engineering experience, and I watch your you tubes to get the truth on electric vehicles!!!! Your opinion is required
No, it isn't. It's just one of many (commercial) opinions.
Google DC wireless fast charging efficiency. It's the same as wired now.
@@BenefitOfTheDoubtInquiryGoogle how much curren it takes to kill a cat. Anyone see a problem?

KNOWING that the hateration about anything Tesla does has gone up a few notches, Sandy's comments are not surprising. LET'S SEE WHAT ELON AND TESLA WILL DO NEXT. I am prepared to be BLOWN AWAY.... AGAIN.

That intro went HARD!
I generally prefer to differentiate robotics from automation. Robots respond to events in their environment and in particular, when those events are not known in advance. Automation is programmed repetitive motion, with pre-planned activities based on inputs. Cruise control is automation. FSD is robotics.
16:00 Sandy, you know, or at least familiar with all of the players that would be capable of producing CF tooling at scale like this. I haven't heard a word and I'm sure you haven't either. We knew about the giga castings and stainless years ahead of time via suppliers. Plus you have the repairability concerns like the i3.
I will be very surprised if a large portion of the body structure is carbon fiber.

Sandy’s devotion to Musk is his Achilles’ Heal.

What devotion? Sandy trashed the first iterations of Model 3, and I believe the first Model Y also had mixed reviews from Sandy. However when they quickly improved in the next iterations of 3/Y, Sandy changed his tune on Tesla. The videos are freely available online
Sandy is not AT ALL of the character to say something he does not agree with! He has come with criticisms of Tesla and Musk. But let's face it, there are preciously few to be made, if one does not mix business and engineering on the one hand, with politics on the other!

i feel a bit sorry for Sandy. Even the younger generation has become critical to Elon's amazing 'genius', false promises and straight out lies and manipulation. It seems like Sandy hit the Elon hype wave late and is still stuck in it and this also seems to be a trend with more older generations in general on pretty much any trend out there. Short form media being an excellent example of this. I feel bad for older generations being able to be manipulated so easily because their past was vastly different than the younger generation now who can discern current time bs from companies trying to manipulate you much easier. Call it being more 'awake' if you will.
kids nowadays drink all the crap they get served on TikTok and is the older generation that should worry?
@@FrancescoDiMauro The kids are actually ditching these failed mind poisons and are returning to old fashioned social time in the REAL world and it's in fact the older generation that is wasting their time on these platforms. It's kind of the Facebook effect, a new platform gets massively used by the younger one only to get bored of it and then overtime the older generation, always more slow to adapt, gets hooked on the now 'older' tech.
Very true, saw an arguably intelligent elderly gent get sucked into the alt-right vortex. They don't have the life-skills with 'tech and media to know when they are in over their heads. Arguably, they are the _easiest_ targets for misinformation and crap like that.

Fantastic job laying down the facts and impressions, Sandy! Media and Tesla haters can go and love themselves. We need more people like you and your team!

Always good to hear someone talk who understands manufacturing and the future of manufacturing. I also wish Syd Mead was still around to see this.
He’s a distraction and alienating a significant percentage of potential customer base. I’ll never buy another, especially now that the supercharger network is open to other brands.
