Brilliant choice by Tesla to allow public access to these guys. They not only are top of their fields, they are relatable and humble. This really lends confidence to future of the company
Every public facing person at Tesla is an absolute genius. And they treat the public like actual adults! Tesla would never make such a vague statement; they always explain things fully, without trying to water it down and make it sound palatable to soccer moms. Consumers actually want to be treated like adults.
Yeah I came across being very impressed. They are serious and know what they are talking about. I think it it would be fun to work for Tesla. It would be hard work of course, but exciting

Hands down best episode thus far. The access to the minds at Tesla that was afforded to Sandy is a testament to not only the respect others have for his knowledge but the unprecedented transparency that Tesla leadership is willing to share which stems from the corporate culture that has been developed. It is heartening to see an American enterprise being a thought leader despite numerous economic and political hurdles. Hats off to both you and Tesla!
@@dertythegrower Well, considering they openly share most of their patents, that’s not really a big deal. They’re encouraging copying. Look at the document they shared on the 48V architecture.
Economic & political hurdles?? Our government is literally writing policy and handing out taxpayer money by the truckloads propping up the EV industry.
As an engineer it's just amazing to hear this team discuss the vehicle. They are all so intimately familiar with the technology and design; it's like they have a single brain! 🧠 I should be a little bit over 100,000 on the wait list. Can't wait to take delivery!
What I love about this interview is that you can easily tell that every team worked on this together as a team and each had a voice in the final design. It wasn’t dictated by any one group and forced on the other teams to “make it work”.
For me as an engineer and product designer, this was extremely inspiring. And it is a pleasure to see that this masterpiece has been created under the leadership of a team of such humble, open and competent people. Even if I, as a European, don't find the Cybertruck too significant as a product: what Tesla has achieved here in terms of design and technology goes far beyond the vehicle class - I would say far beyond the vehicle industry.
I am glad that your comment is visible and not lost to the algorithms. I am finding the comments here just as interesting as the video. And your comment alludes to the fact that this goes well beyond the product--it's the process of Tesla being so transparent and generous. These engineers are absolutely wonderful and aren't trying to dumb down the things they say; they are treating the audience like adults. Tesla is one of the most generous corporations that has ever existed (giving away most of their trade secrets for free). This video will inspire millions of young people to want to study engineering.
It's unfortunate the Cybertruck's controversial exterior design has detracted from the absolute world-class engineering happening at Tesla. It's exciting to think about how all this trickle-down technology will make their next-gen affordable vehicle unstoppable once it enters the market. Bravo
@@vinny9152 Not really. Tesla will refine all this tech - 48V, SDN, 800V, all-wheel steering, steer by wire...and then put into ints new models and refresh. They can't do that in an existing model!
It's by no means a "masterpiece", this channel cannot address the problems, they are in the pocket of Tesla. You get no access to Tesla if you are critical in any way of their product. But the CT is rife with problems. Watch other sources and coverage as well, get a balanced media diet.
Tbf, for over a decade they've been begging the industry to copy them, but nope. Conversely look how fast Chinese EV's have evolved, they own their market and the legacies have to basically quit that market with their tails tucked. When will these delusional legacies learn their lessons?
The mission of replacing 2,000,000,000 ICE vehicle fleet means even if every vehicle being manufactured worldwide were electric, it would take 20 years to do. Tesla has been trying to bring these OEMS on board for almost 15 years now.
i love that each of the Tesla crew got to show off their baby and it's a joy to see the pride they have in what their teams have brought to the world. Than you Lars, Franz, Drew, Pete, David for sharing your time with us. Thanks Sandy for your eyes going wide at some of the revelations.
The candid nature of their answers was astounding. They didn't have to worry about giving away something proprietary because they knew other manufacturers are to lazy and/or incompetent to steal from them. By the time they did, Tesla would probably be doing something better.
This is like a psychedelic trip for Sandy, having this first hand walkthrough with some of the most key players and being able to ask them questions in real time. Happy for you Sandy!! 🎉🎉🎉
As a network engineer, the network side change inside the cybertruck is mind blowing. A gigabit, effectively token ring circuit set for connectivity is absolutely insane compared to the garbage bus in every other car.
Why overcomplicate things? CanBUS has been around since '86 and is still more than enough for automotive use. You don't need gigabit networking to turn on the lights.. Stick to standards or improve them slowly, this is a lot of safety items.
As an investor, technical guy into autos, that is the info I’m looking for. That was amazing. Really brings to light how advanced the cyber truck is compared to existing ICE vehicles. Surprising Tesla was so open and sharing about so much of the ins and outs that would have taken so much effort to design.
They've learned from experience, that legacy OEMs literally aren't capable of doing what they're doing. I've heard a few analysts, like Sandy, describe the relationship between corporate structure, and what kind of products can be produced. In order for another OEM to even begin to copy this stuff, they will first have to close the corporate office and open a new one, and lay off or reassign every member of the design, engineering, marketing and executive staff.
No need to not tell openly. Every OEM will do engineering analysis and hire firms like Munro to do teardown and reverse engineer. So they will know every detail. This way, each interested customer and journalist gets the information.
Quite likely the coolest Munro episode ever. What a team. And in Part Two: -What were some of the most difficult/contentious decisions? -Which process changes were hardest to implement? -On a day to day basis, how do you all integrate so effectively as a team? -What would you say were Elon's key contributions? -Were there any pleasant surprises from this project, or any unexpected trouble spots? -How do you foresee the ramp proceeding? -(And how good is 'boat mode'?!)
As much as the cyber truck is an absolute game changer for those that care to take time to appreciate the research and development thats gone into it, i can’t help but think that what they have learned by building this is going to make the model 2 an absolute world beater. i will bet that when it is released other manufacturers will virtually throw their arms in the air and admit defeat. The revolution is about to hit warp speed.
@@nielsvandenkieboom5034they won't, they risk Osborning themselves too much. The model 2 will be an "iphone" kind of launch, between unveling and 1st deliveries there will probably be less than 3 months, probably even less than 1 month. Or ypu risk having too much backlog and the Osbourne effect
@@TheRealYaro Nope, I'm just not a delusional man-child. Tesla are literally the worst rated car manufacturer when it comes to quality control, they are far behind several other companies in their self driving tech (oh and they have legally admitted they will never get past level 2 autonomy), and since this pile of trash was released there have been countless problems reported with it. That's why Ford are advertising on this video, in fact if anything there's a ford ad on this video because this guy signed a deal to produce sponsored videos and this was just one of the videos made in the contracts time frame.
This literally may be the best interview Sandy or anyone has ever done at Tesla…. Holy shit, that was an amazing amount of information and insight into where the automotive world needs to go.
@@KsazDFW Apart from curious new production processes which I'm sure would allow Tesla to sell this at a healthy profit, I don't see what's so revolutionary about it? How is this the answer to any of the questions and issues personal mobility is facing today? I think it's rather out of touch. Cool truck for influencers and if you're getting shot at during the apocalypse. I get the feeling Tesla fans aren't car people, hence they treat any new feature in a Tesla to be groundbreaking, even if it has been around for a while already. All we've seen so far hints at just an ordinary unibody spaceframe, the 'exoskeleton' bit sounds like pure marketing and people will gobble it up.
@@DimitarStanev so you didn't watch the video ?!!! Let me give you a few key points: 48V instead of 12V, ether loop instead of can bus, steer by wire instead of a physically connected steering rack, rear wheel steering (which isn't new, but only really has been implemented once in a car before), a unique stainless steel alloy, that is highly corrosion resistant and largely bullet proof. That's just for starters. You also haven't seen the video, when Sandy interviewed Elon. Because you would understand then, why they could go all out on innovation with the Cybertruck opposed to other models.
I'm thrilled to watch this - it's truly one of the best Tesla videos ever. Too often, people associate Tesla solely with Elon, whether positively or negatively. Yet, there are brilliant minds and genuinely nice people like the ones featured in this video, diligently working to propel the industry forward. Thank you Munro and thank you Tesla.
"We split the battery in two". Absolutely the most underrated comment. While being super a super obvious solution, it's just next level way to approach the problem.
It strikes that much of the info Sandy would have gleaned from a tear down was spoon fed to him in this video! Now it gives me way more patience for actual tear down. This is like a “Teardown Lite”!
We non paying "customers" never see a complete teardown. We only see the freely available summary. Munro makes many hundreds of thousand profit with every teardown. And i guess Tesla vehicles are their top jobs.
This shows exactly why Tesla is in the lead, their top people, respectively all sat down to freely share all of their hard work and diligence. They don’t care about keeping secrets, they care about moving the state of the art forward. Thx Sandy & team!
Secrets are for those trying to get an edge not the undisputed leader. Doesnt even matter at this point if all of their data/research got leaked. By the time you manage to prototype, build, sell a product, their teams had another few years to keep on adding to the headstart. Making their older stuff look truly old in comparison.
Tesla is in the lead you got to be kidding me they make a pickup truck that took about 4 years instead of not saying a damn word till the thing was completely done why don't we wait until this truck has proven itself over time it hasn't even been out long enough and everybody's jumping the gun man the Cyber truck is so goddamn good give it some time people it might not last a year everybody wants to jump the gun about this how much is Elon paying you people
Sandy is an absolute class act. Even the little things, like how he makes time to thank everyone. Makes him a super loveable guy. I have been consuming all the heavy tech Cybertruck content so far, and this video is has to be the best deep dive. Hagerty was good but this access and Q&A panel was awesome. Elon should have had these guys on stage for 30mins to talk and Q&A. Good to see a strong leadership bench. This is actually a great recruitment ad for working at Tesla tbh, the high level of engineering competence really shines through
The amount of natural respect these guys have for each other sets them apart from almost every other company. Most times it’s ego’s battling but this is different. That’s why Tesla is in front of the game so much. Down to earth people with so much knowledge.
This is also the first time that American engineers have been leading in automotive engineering since the 1960's. As it turns out, if American companies actually "allow" their engineers to design things properly, they can build amazing cars, as they did back in the 1950's and late 1960's.
These are the smartest guys in the business. Sandy is in engineering heaven with these engineers. All these engineers should be super proud of this product.
This is just awesome! Ford sponsors this. Sandy was so freaked out he wasn’t gonna get a chance to show the innards for years. And Tesla threw him a bone. They didn’t give him a Cyber Truck to tear down. But they gave him a torn down Cyber Truck tour WITH the minds that designed it . And these guys man. These guys were thick as thieves. 😅 You can just sense the pride in their work. The joy they have at finally being able to share it. Their absolute confidence in what they’ve built and how they’ve built it. They were straight up gloating when presenting their work. 😂😂😂 And they deserve to. Tons of brilliance went into the design. HOW vehicles are made is going to forever change because of their work. As suppliers begin retooling, the entire market’s gonna have to shift. I have no doubt, as they retool S3XY to continue their relentless innovation, well see it begin to adopt many of these systems designed for Cyber Truck. The absolute efficiency they perform with. (Paraphrasing: “Since we have track mode already we started with that and gave Cyber Truck ‘Baja Mode’.) Rather than start from scratch because “model S is a car, not a truck. The same profile won’t work. They’re too different,” they started with the work they’d already done. It could’ve been a waste of time. But it wasn’t. Even if it had been though. The amount of time wasted to test it would be far less than the amount spent stating optimizations from scratch. Great product. Great video. Thanks Tesla Team. Thanks Munro Team.
@@phxees It takes a bigger man to swallow his pride and do what’s right for his company. Jim Farley has stepped up and acknowledged what needs to be done. Tesla cannot do it alone, we all need Ford, GM etc to step up and make EV’s that people actually want to buy. Tesla’s gift of the 48v plans to everyone, for free, is an exceptional act of philanthropy.
I want to give thanks to you and the Tesla team for the deep dive. It was extremely fascinating and it's really a marvel at how candid and excited they were to share all their hard work.
Absolutely incredible. You also get a feel for the culture of cooperation these folks have to have with each other to be able to play in the sandbox across different functions to make something like this possible.
This is the best content Munro and Associates have posted to date... in my opinion. Built on decades of Sandy's experience, a risk in starting a UA-cam channel when the benefits were not clear, and the masterstroke to invite top Tesla executives to talk about the topics they love so much. Stunningly good content. Thank you Sandy and crew.
Sandy is really good at facilitating the gap between industry leading engineers and meat heads like me. Dare I say at this stage in his life he has found himself. This is truly a gift to people/investors like me! This panel of gifted engineers aren’t really gods, just really really gifted and talented. I and speaking for many others, thank you for your dedication and hard work, ALL this is a gift to humanity. Bravo.
Awesome video, thank you team Sandy! Yet, as a retired IT guy, I’m somewhat sadden that intangible software can’t be “plop” on the desk and appreciate for their design beauty as well. 😊
These people are the heroes whose hard work and dedication make the product world leading. I could see how much they enjoyed being able to show you the work they and the team behind them have done to make the Cybertruck. Thanks All.
Wow Sandy got the time of 5 of Tesla’s executives. That shows how much respect Tesla has for Sandy and Munro and associates. Great video thanks Tesla and Sandy.
The fact that ford sponsored this is a really cool move on their part. Lots of respect for them and it actually really helps me believe in their own product confidence and engineering.
Smart move. Those wanting a Cybertruck and ordering now will go to the back of the queue and need to wait at least 3/4 years. Could be driving a Lightening in the mean-time….
Ford sponsored this? Did I miss that part somewhere in the video? Can someone explain why they did that? Is Ford working with Tesla in any way, other than using the Tesla chargers at select locations?
@@RitalieNo. They sponsered this video on Sandy's channel as in paid money to put up an ad. Tesla is giving Sandy the interviews and access due to his reach and respect they have for his fair assessments.
Super-informative and so generous of Tesla execs to share with the world! Being a completely new platform, Cybertruck is able to demonstrate Tesla's impressive engineering prowess!
This is a rare and exceptional video. First Ford sponsoring a Tesla engineering showoff is something else. But they invited someone, who does teardowns of their cars, analysses the engineering and sells it to the competition. Then the leading engineers and head of each department is willing to sit there an hour and explain every detail Sandy could ask. And not only are they "just there" they even don't interrupt each other and show interest in each other departments and field of expertise. Man people don't understand what they did and overcome with the cybertruck in just 4 years. I wish I could have a deep dive of each departement. Thanks to all of them.
This is awesome, too be fair I've been critical of Elon lately but that's just Elon. No one denies just how brilliant he is and the team of people he has around him. Great videos lately Sandy, making me remember why I love Tesla.
"I've been driving a Wrangler since forever, but ever since I bought the new one, what a disaster....I can't believe they put that thing out." Savage, Sandy, savage.
@@radicalrick9587 Sandy seemed to be suggesting that the Cybertruck is going to replace Jeep Wranglers as the vehicle for outdoor types, but I don't really see his argument other than the exoskeleton can take a beating. I feel like the Cybertruck would get stuck in muddy/sandy conditions a lot more.
This is a FANTASTIC video. Someone with Sandy's knowledge talking with these execs, which properly understand their stuff ... an amazing video. Simply fantastic.
PheNOMenal interview.. show.. whatever you want to call this. What an amazing panel you got to go through so much of this machine’s design.. wow.. WOW. Freakin’ awesome Sandy!
This is a fucking dope quality content !!! Thanks Sandy and all the Tesla elite folks for sparing their time for letting people know what they have done in engineering a future car. No bull shit no marketing stuff just plain straight explanation on what have been done. Hats off to Tesla team and Sandy!
Wow, blown away with the access, time & respect offered to Sandy (& therefore us) by the Tesla A Team here. They are so humble & giving of their precious time here, this feels like a huge shift in the reporting of a new vehicle - never have I seen such detailed, time-consuming, honest access to a design team & their ground-breaking product. As someone recently said "the future, now looks like the future". I thought he was speaking of the CyberTruck, but it's waaay beyond a single product. Tesla: Where, the future doesn't wear ties.
57:54 rear steering was done on the Honda Prelude 1988, I'm not sure since then when it was engineered into another platform. How does this affect wheel alignment? Who is going to give you cybertruck wheel alignment?
this is Sandy’s all-time best vid. a collection of rockstar engineers/designers, all of whom were very articulate, passionate, and personable. great props and venue as well.
Wow Holy-Batmobile! I just realised that Sandy is sitting down with Teslas Top Table! Wow, the Franz says ‘if we do this with another vehicle!’ That’s not insignificant…..!
Franz does not equal Lars! What a great video! My head is exploding just like Sandy’s. So many huge innovations! So many design moves that will save efficiency, serviceability, and cross platform parts availability… well done Tesla! Well done!
Kudos to the Tesla team for sharing all these interesting design insights. Makes us Tesla owners and future owners that much more excited to drive these things around knowing how much work and thought went into them. Keep it up Tesla! Great job Munro Team!
I’m so impressed by the engineering. This is next level design and execution. I’m seriously thinking purchasing this next gen vehicle. Do I need it, no, do I want it, yes. Nothing on the market like it.
Outstanding work, Sandy! Great Ford commercial - brilliant move, highlighting the ability to power your house. The 3-D manufacturing company was freaking amazing. Almost amazing as Tesla I think. The quality of the components is crazy, like aircraft quality. And fascinating engineering details. Just great.
Companies have been chasing the cheapest product in other countries. They have been destroying the US in the process. Its nice for Tesla to come in and remind the US who they are.
Tesla understands that, only a rolling stone gathers mass(momentum), Things would become different, once the entire place is rolling!😂. Tesla has done something similar, when it opened up its patents, without reaching needed market share. How it worked out or not, is everybody's guess. This time around, they are better prepared, and know what they are doing🤞❤👍
Outstanding video !!! It really shows Sandy's credibility in the automotive industry !!! And Tesla's openness is in another level. They know no one is catching them up.
I just had to stop half way to write that this is the best gawd damn thing I've seen on youtube!! Amazing conversations and the gathered knowledge here is second to none.
So wonderful that this team is allowed to take the time to share their expertise in each element of development of the Cybertruck, and technology going into each Tesla going forwards. I think that's great! Acceleration energy independence!
It’s incredible that they openly share such detailed info on their design. Love it
Tbf, for over a decade they've been begging the industry to copy them, but nope. Conversely look how fast Chinese EV's have evolved, they own their market and the legacies have to basically quit that market with their tails tucked. When will these delusional legacies learn their lessons?
You mean their old design. 🤣
"Try to copy what is in front of your eyes...... because we are behind two corners already."
Go TESLA !!!
@@pazznecht haha yeah that’s right, always a step ahead
The mission of replacing 2,000,000,000 ICE vehicle fleet means even if every vehicle being manufactured worldwide were electric, it would take 20 years to do. Tesla has been trying to bring these OEMS on board for almost 15 years now.
Zero Patents
i love that each of the Tesla crew got to show off their baby and it's a joy to see the pride they have in what their teams have brought to the world.
Think about update computers on 500kb canbus, new models have upgraded to the fastest 1Mb canbus and Tesla hit 1Gbit already...🤣
@@iulikdev IKR quite funny but logical. Just cameras grab this bandwidth in split seconds. Especially if the increase pixel rate and FPS
Agree, this one aspect of the new architecture is a force multiplier for everything.
Chinese will copy this within a year, and then Germans and rest will be forced to follow along.
Why overcomplicate things? CanBUS has been around since '86 and is still more than enough for automotive use. You don't need gigabit networking to turn on the lights.. Stick to standards or improve them slowly, this is a lot of safety items.
Holy shit Sandy pulled this off!!!
Having the sponsorship from Ford, then getting dedicated time from Top Management at Tesla!
Best of both worlds!!!
Absolutely genius!
All down to Munro (the company) opening a UA-cam channel that showcased the genius of Sandy.
The fact Tesla gave Sandy their top engineers to talk about anything Cybertruck just corroborate how important Sandy is for all of us. ❤
They know there is no need to advertise when you can get KOL to showcase their products
Paid for by Ford, no less.
As an investor, technical guy into autos, that is the info I’m looking for. That was amazing. Really brings to light how advanced the cyber truck is compared to existing ICE vehicles. Surprising Tesla was so open and sharing about so much of the ins and outs that would have taken so much effort to design.
They know it will take years and years for the competition to catch up on this no matter what.
@@davidmenasco5743 or perhaps break the union...
Quite likely the coolest Munro episode ever. What a team.
And in Part Two:
-What were some of the most difficult/contentious decisions?
-Which process changes were hardest to implement?
-On a day to day basis, how do you all integrate so effectively as a team?
-What would you say were Elon's key contributions?
-Were there any pleasant surprises from this project, or any unexpected trouble spots?
-How do you foresee the ramp proceeding?
-(And how good is 'boat mode'?!)
This is by far the best video detailing the cybertruck on the internet so far... nice work Munro!
Glad you think so!
Now this is the best deep dive yet for us nerds out here. Thanks Sandy
Old guard engineer so proud of new world engineers. One of the best technical videos of Cybertruck. Thank you Sandy and the Tesla Team!
I can’t wait to get one as our 2nd car next to the Model 3. I just wish we had a release date estimate..
I know, luckily there are always some leaks nearing the release date so we'll know anyway.@@flaviosalatino8192
This was like watching the final scene of Avengers Assemble. So many superheroes in one shot. Great work Sandy and the MunroLive Team!
Amazing to see how proud and excited the Tesla team is!!
That pride is evident in the truck they built.
@@danharold3087Yes, it's why it's a colossal failure that's doa.
@@oBCHANo you own some Ford stock? 😂
Sandy gives these guys a chance to show their behind-the-scenes work to the world. I love it!
In what world is a 3ton ostentatious bulletproof bunker on wheels any indication of the future of mobility?
@@DimitarStanevDid you watch the video?
@@DimitarStanev You obviously didn’t understand the content discussed.
That’s a lot of respect for Munro and Sandy, deservedly so!
Having a great relationship with the chief engineer(elon) helps get this level of access. Best video on the cybertruck . totally pumped for mine!!
Doing stuff like this is how you recruit top talent. Mad props to Tesla and Munro.
"We split the battery in two". Absolutely the most underrated comment. While being super a super obvious solution, it's just next level way to approach the problem.
I agree, but in fairness the Hummer EV does the same thing.
Tesla is in the lead you got to be kidding me they make a pickup truck that took about 4 years instead of not saying a damn word till the thing was completely done why don't we wait until this truck has proven itself over time it hasn't even been out long enough and everybody's jumping the gun man the Cyber truck is so goddamn good give it some time people it might not last a year everybody wants to jump the gun about this how much is Elon paying you people
The fact that VPs can sit down and talk about the details of these projects says volumes. And that they called things a "labor of love" also does.
This is actually a great recruitment ad for working at Tesla tbh, the high level of engineering competence really shines through
Thankyou so much to all involved in giving there precious time to make this.
The amount of natural respect these guys have for each other sets them apart from almost every other company. Most times it’s ego’s battling but this is different. That’s why Tesla is in front of the game so much. Down to earth people with so much knowledge.
"There is no "I" in Team"
underrated comment
This is also the first time that American engineers have been leading in automotive engineering since the 1960's. As it turns out, if American companies actually "allow" their engineers to design things properly, they can build amazing cars, as they did back in the 1950's and late 1960's.
Yeah, but Elon is mean on twitter.
These are the smartest guys in the business. Sandy is in engineering heaven with these engineers. All these engineers should be super proud of this product.
WOW, thank you Sandy and all of you guys for hard work.
I’m a car guy, and this truly is my top 3 favorite cars of all time. I love how they just went for it.
My wife goes crazy when she sees a cyber truck great job everyone great
This is just awesome! Thanks Munro Team.
well done. excellent, thoughtful, eloquent post.
Wow, Ford gets it. Kudos to them for being able to smell the coffee!
That was a dig from Ford. That’s why they added the “Ford is leading the way for the other OEMs for EV …”
@@phxees It takes a bigger man to swallow his pride and do what’s right for his company. Jim Farley has stepped up and acknowledged what needs to be done. This is the best content Munro and Associates have posted to date... in my opinion. Stunningly good content. Thank you Sandy and crew.
Sandy, all I can say is, "WOW!!!" Best video I have ever seen on a Tesla product ever. Very Very well done
Most juicy cybertruck video so far, for an engineer. Can’t wait for a detailed, explained tour about the manufacturing process of it next.
Bravo.

This truck looks engineered to last. Built in obsolescence not us.
THIS is why I’m keeping my reservation! Easily 2 generations ahead of the competition at soooo many levels.
Awesome video, thank you team Sandy!
Yet, as a retired IT guy, I’m somewhat sadden that intangible software can’t be “plop” on the desk and appreciate for their design beauty as well. 😊
