"Your father is trying to win an argument that doesn't make any sense"
"Welcome to my life"

Yeesh, I can totally relate

Isn't that like every parent ever?
@@Kira110lol no, no it's not. Some parents do listen if you also listen to them.
"My father told me I wasn't passionate. How can we be, when he sucks the f*kin life out of you". So brutally honest.
Yes and it’s weird how I was reading this as she said it
@@777jared literally same holy shit
I can relate helping dads business
And that's the honest truth
I feel like the problem with her is , like every other daughter and sons , they blame it on the father too much . I notice that she literally put every single bad thing about herself on her father , and her father’s problem is that he doesn’t seem to trust her ever . Probably there’s a strong reason for the both of it , which only caused harm to each other and made it worse
The talent that Andrea showed straight away makes me wonder how she was held back for so many years and the fact the restaurant is still open and successful today while also surviving through the pandemic is testament to her ability as well.
Spite and pride. Its clear the Dad wanted to be the man to show his foolish but eager daughter how to run the "family business" he built. Only he has the key to success, until his daughter became a rising star and quickly showed him how little he has to offer her, shes a natural. And so you will see a man who will gladly let his livelihood burn to the ground before he lets his daughter come in and tell HIM how to make his business successful. A proud and foolish man.
Some people man.
I honestly think the dad unintentionally did the right thing. Had she just been given it day 1 she probably wouldn't have as much passion. I bet after 7 years of her dad telling her she couldn't do it, it only made her want to prove him wrong even more
@@Bill-sj4fwim unsure how much that affected her drive in a positive way. It wasn’t portrayed in camera that there was resentment towards the father, but there’s a good chance that Andrea angling with a lot of the people there had underlying resentment towards the father. Just thinking about how I would feel in that situation, I think you’re right about her wanting to prove him wrong- but I think it came more from spite because of how it’d been going on.
@@Bill-sj4fwshe actually mentions in the video towards the beginning at least twice that him holding her back for 7 years lessened her drive and passion
imagine the only one, the only THING, holding you back from being successful, is your own "cautious" dad
Since Andrea took place over, they're still open, have great food and very positive reviews. But man, the way that Gordon not only fixes resturants, but family relationships is something different. It's pleasure to watch this series.

O
It always makes me laugh when they say "in all my years in this restaurant i have never heard any complain" because no one comes to their restaurant
And they're not willing to listen to anyone. It's funny when they say this, during their first service you always see a bunch of food coming back with complaints.
Most people, if they don't like something, won't complain, they just won't go there again. Maybe they'll leave a review once they've left.
For the show, customers are probably told to be vocal and mention if some thing's wrong, or they're mentioning it so they can be on TV when they normally wouldn't bother.
@@lisahenry20 Gordon had to point that out to multiple owners. People don't complain to the chef, they complain to their friends after dinner and pick somewhere else next time.

Me and my family had a Chinese restaurant for 39 years. The final 10-11 years was basically the fighting you see here and worse. An arrogant and delusional father who can't let go of a business to let the son do greater things for the business led to the business being sold. I kinda love the turnaround by Tom towards the end when they changed the restaurant decor and the menu. He was stubborn throughout the episode thinking his way was the right way, but instead of just telling him, Gordon showed him a better way through the improved decor and exceptional food. As a greek living in a small town in Sweden, my dad has to drive one town over to buy calamari, soupia, octopus etc and it’s only frozen. Still he makes the best out of it and makes it delicious. He cooks the soupia with potatoes, fennel (the leafs, not root, which is also hard to find apparently and sometimes he has to use the root instead) and olives, in a sauce. He’s been making it the same way his whole life and even though he has to use frozen stuff, he still somehow makes it taste like fresh 🤷🏼♀️ and no, I’m not talking about restaurant or something. He makes it at home. For himself. Maybe twice a year, because soupia in Sweden is very expensive.
Maybe it isn't frozen for days or something
Frozen octopus cooks better than fresh . It’s more tender . Same with squid . Frozen produce is fine if you can cook and know how to use it. Often people on kn just can’t cook .
