From the moment the father said he was pretty much forcing all his kids to work UNPAID for him, with "living at home" as a reward, I understood why everyone was so pissed and angry, I would be too. That's slavery, sir. Very sad episode tbh.
That´s the problem when a family restaurant like this is only the dream of one member of the family. The kids all have dreams on there own and want to do other things which is natural because it wasn´t there idea or choice really to work there. I actually worked in a restaurant like that for a few weeks and it was really awfull. Things like that can really destroy familys.
Yup.
Welcome to the Middle East.
“All cultures are equal”.
Lol you have nothing bistch, none of the girls are even hijababis XD
They're from Lebanon, the least middle Eastern of the countries and you couldn't even figure that...
Perhaps study your own history first and see how your ancestors were XD
@@dallysinghson5569 I would love you to explain your comment - Lebanon the least middle Eastern of the countries. If by this you are referring to Lebanon's religious, cultural and political diversity then I agree Lebanon is different to its Middle Eastern neighbours, Israel being the obvious exception. However, this family is from a specific 'community' - the names tell us which one - and they see having a large family as a form of protection against old age. Hence the father is able to justify enslaving his children to a life they would not choose for themselves.
And Ismail Abaza - being critical does not mean 'hating on'!
By the way Dally, I have studied my own history and yes some of my ancestors were despicable. The difference is, I am not. For me, what this father is doing to his children in our more enlightened times is pretty despicable
It is so frustrating to see Sam oblivious to the fact that with the money he was losing on a business run by amateurs, he could have hired professionals, made money and set his children free. Smh.
He’s an effing cheapskate!
Yea this is the most bizzare part, and why I don't buy the whole ppl have children as working hands. I mean awfulness aside, surely it's cheaper to hire someone than raise a child

there is more to this episode than a restaurant.. this is a father that cant let go of his children..
daddy loves his slaves dont he
That's the saddest episode I've seen so far. Father wants family restaurant, but no-one shares that dream. While children are forced to make father's dream work, they cannot pursue the dreams of their own. Stress and depression have turned siblings against each other, while father has gone into denial to cope with the fact that this is all his fault. Burger Kitchen's drama was messed up, but this one takes the cake, because for some reason I feel for every single member of this family. There's no betrayal, just bunch of shattered dreams.
This one just left me hoping not for Gordon to save the place, but to shut it down and set the kids free. Seriously, even if they all just got jobs at different McDonald's locations, every one of their lives would improve.
@@kelsiparker7990 then you would stop the father which is also bad, he should learn how to rrecruit thats the truth because he had employees before they got cut down due the low time

Well said
Jamal is the oldest of them all but my God, he's the most immature one among all of them. The others are working their asses off while he's just walking around and arguing with his siblings. And then, I see his position, he's a cashier man. Dude, just stay in the cashier and take care of the bills.
Lol, though there was not much to do since theyhad so few customers because the food sucked.
I'm just 18 mins in, but hes the OLDEST? damn, I was so sure he was the baby
Agree!!!! Such a baby keep complaining and telling his siblings stupid . And the way he argues is such immature
An argument is defined as "a set of sentences, one of which is the conclusion, the others are premises."
I didn't hear a genuine argument from any of the family members in this entire episode. None of them had anything of value to say.
Just in fighting and quarreling. Zero arguments.
Honestly I get hin though. He is the one who had been forced to stay there the longest, and he is forced to watch his siblings go through the same sh he did. I would be angry too, and not knowing how to get that anger out and being in a situation that feels hopeless makes you lose any sense of maturity. Obviously he should reflect on that and not let it out on others, but I get why he acts that way, and i think it‘s not just a simple lack of maturity.
The kids work together, live together, and don't want to be there. It's not shocking that they fight so much
The dad really said "you're too young, you're only 19." Bruh by the time I was 19 I left my parents house and was making my own life. Momma said go to college in 10 minutes from home and I moved 4 hours aways. Honestly the best possible decision I could have made. I never fight with my parents anymore and now we have a great relationship. Crazy was some space will do.
They’re arab, the culture is obviously different. 19 is still considered a child here, and we dont leave the house until we get married, especially women.
@@layalb4604 yup, same thing with mexican parents. its sweet on the surface seeing how much our parents want to baby us for as long as possible but they cant see how tiring it can be when we're old enough to be independent but are held back by them :(

90% of the time, Jamal is the one starting the fighting and just being super annoying. Always needling the others, it seems to be his way to deal with the frustrations
It's a show, they over dramatise everything
Bad parenting.
You can tell he goes home and ask one of his brothers or sister to cook for him or just microwaves food. Out of the 7 he seems to be the most hated by the family no one can agree with him, Jamel is the generic big talk bully that when he gets called out cowers out cause he’ll flop harder than the nerd
Yeah, I know they edited things to dramatise everything, but some of the stuff he said to his little sisters was straight-up nasty and I would've called him on it.
It hurt to see the siblings turning against each other instead of presenting a united front to their father, but that's how it seems to go in a lot of families - and countries!
Nah he was the only one actually making good points.
"The kitchen isn't my problem"
Yet comes into the kitchen telling them they aren't doing it properly lmfaoooooo
This should have been a two part episode. The counselling took so long they skipped the part where Ramsay oversees dinner service after the restaurant makeover.
Jamal literally acts and sound like a 10 year old… telling his siblings to shut up when he was the one who started the fight first, and then saying “that’s what I thought” as if he actually had a point to prove in the first place- hella immature
Everything he said of others described himself. It's called "projection."
WAAH WAAH WAAH! not all his fault. I put most of the blame on the piece of shit daddy! Force his children into something that they want no part of.
It's not surprising when the father refuses to let any of them grow up and have a chance to be adults. that's the whole point
"I've tried everything Gordon! I forced my family into servitude, I insult them all the time and I complain non-stop but they still won't give me a perfect restaurant!"
['
It'd be so funny if it wasn't so sad
"am I so out of touch? No it's the children who are wrong"
That part when Wesam, the third child to confess who just fell silent while reminding his dad that he still needs to go to college just hit hard, it was almost like his silence spoke for itself and I felt it, no doubt their dad felt it took as he broke down. First ep where Ive seen genuinely raw emotions
Imagine admitting you force both adults as well as legal minors to work for you 7 days a week, completely without pay, and I am assuming things like social security or health insurance, and then thinking that that is both not massively illegal, and will in no way deter people from wanting to come and patronise the business of a guy who is making money off his own kids doing *unpaid labour*.
The dude with the chain was good at pointing out problems but never gave any solutions. He was the reason they would constantly argue he got peoples back up and then just told them to shut up
And he's supposed to be the oldest of the siblings but he's the most immature of them all.
Yeah, but he and his sister were the ones who got the feedback from the customers.
@@margarethmichelina5146 How? He recieves the complaints from the customers about the food and when forwarding that to the cook he's met with a "What don't you do it?"

First time Gordon didn't need to argue, cause they did it themselves
Parents putting their dreams and pressures onto their kids and treating them like children even when they're adults and gaslighting them into making them feel guilty if they abandon the parents dreams for pursuit of their own lives is the most selfish thing a parent can do
Most arab families do that. Kids here in the middle east are still being pushed to study engineering and medicine eventhough the market is saturated and jobs are few. The culture is very stubborn to change.
The youngest daughter is like a cute puppy my goodness when she was going back and forth for Ramsey's orders she looked like a doll running around. So adorable 🥰

@@torkelsvenson6411I can understand that. Sam brought it upon himself to open a restaurant but to have ALL his children there and not even pay them is shocking
@@torkelsvenson6411I agree with you on that! I also suspect the crying might have been kinda like a last resort to guilt-trip his children into staying.
It kinda worked in a way, because they were all like “i’m not going anywhere for the short term, I will still be here and help you.”
Idk how long they all ended up staying in the restaurant but I think if Sam’s reaction wouldn’t have been so heavy they all would’ve walked out of there immediately.
Damn, this episode hits hard in the gut. Such a lovely family. The dad's broken heart definitely touched my heart as a father myself. I am glad to see the children finding their own life from this, thanks to Chef Ramsay, once again coming as a saviour of family and business.

It's great the way Gordon helps put families back together. So many of these situations are simply brought about by a lack of honesty, proper communication and understanding between owners and family or staff. You can't go wrong with cleanliness, fresh decor and properly crafted food, in a kitchen that runs like clockwork.
For the first time after watching almost all the episodes of kitchen nightmares, I finally saw some of the camera's (7:45)used in taping inside and outside the kitchen.
Great episode.
Always happy watching Gordon Ramsay doing everything he can to help those people.
Parents have a way to get their kids feel guilty even though it's not their fault. I know the feeling.

Ugh dude i feel u
Good parents wont. And it's also up to you to say no. For example, any of these kids could have told their dad no and went their own way, but they didn't, they stayed there because it was easier. Life comes with hard choices.
Yeah like how God makes humanity feel like its their fault for their sins, when it was not them who ate the forbidden fruit but Adam and Eve, why do we have to inherit their sin, when we didn't eat the fruit? Why would you make this sin be inherited when that is unfair to the kids, because they are being punished for something that they didn't choose to inherit or have, it was just passed to them by their parents, and they have to suffer because of their parents' mistakes

No restaurant should EVER be carpeted, I’ve personally never seen such a thing…. So gross
My first job was in a carpeted restaurant. I liked it as it had a calming effect on everyone. Of course, the pro of that comes with the con of regular cleaning. I recall there was always someone hoovering that carpet twice a day (between breakfast and lunch, then again before dinner - place was a hotel hence breakfast service).
Carpet has a few advantages, like reducing the echo of all the footsteps, but it HAS to be kept clean or it'll be a stain sponge and start to stink. If you aren't prepared to vacuum it plenty and get cleaners in on a regular basis, it's a really bad choice.
Idk but I think that carpeted restaurant spaces are an American thing, here in Europe i hardly saw something like that, if not at all

Jamal was an argumentative and gasoline-pouring douchebag to all of his siblings, not just that one sister specifically.
And some consie thinkers in the west, romanticise the so-called oriental convergence of families... I'm fckn telling you that what they call oriental convergence, is the remain of a tradition, having stiffed into an image. Seen it live mostly among Romanis, Jews and Indians, but also heard Persian cases. Disappointing how a dysfunctional family is stuck together due to some religious dogma or a stiffed tradition, or compensating one person's past traumas.
the dad wanted to chase his dream, he knew the desire of acomplishing a dream but he does not understand the desire of his kids to chase dream. The sad part is that the stress coming from the father and the fact that they does not have the chance to chase their dream to fulfill their dad dream, it felt unfair. The stress had ripped this family apart, the dad focusing on the restaurant and the kids dont even care about the restaurant at all. This prove the importance of letting go some times. Sometimes, you just need to let go of you children and let them chase their dream just like how you chased it when you are as young as they are.
This episode Gordon didn't have to scream at others, because everyone were screaming at each other xD also what a relief for everyone to no longer have to be enslaved by their father. That was removing an major blockage from those kids lives. And everyone became happy

Holy sht, it's like the cast of Jersey Shore is trying to run a restaurant
Made me fucking howl that one lad
Hahahahahah such a good point!!😂
This episode brought me to tears 2 quite a heart wrencher
everyone saying "they're adults why dont they leave?" . its an abusive toxic relationship. TRUST ME when you're dealing with manipulation like that its incredibly hard and terrifying to leave. especially when you've been dependent on these parents and never taught to do for yourself

Chef: "Leena, why don't you go first?"
Leena's face: "Noooooooooooooooooooo."
Guy with the necklace is a fucking menace
This episode made me so so sad for Wissam, the cook. The entire family mistreated him, especially his father.
I could watch restaurant remodel reveals all day

Closed after year and half... well, you get what you pay for, daddy Sam. If you pay your family the bare minimum (in form of housing and living costs), dont be suprised they put minimal effort to the work. And if there was only 1 restaurant on the planet, and all the staff was working at minimum effort, it will be closed very soon. Many of restaurants owners do this s**t here (minimal wages in high-priced crowded tourist centre) and then wonder why it dont work at all. Its very hard job, both kitchen and serving, many people have no idea about the staffs work.
Damn a year and a half that’s a strong message that people shouldn’t work with their family
So not surprised. All those kids were right from the start there for: I want to get my dad back in the black and then I am GONE. And I can't blame them. I think the production crew and Ramsey knew as well, but it made for good TV and I think they felt sorry for the kids.
Gordon: "I thought I was here to fix a failing restaurant, but turns out I was Dr. Phil."
This is the most emotional episode I've seen 🥺
Can we talk about how good the mother looks after having 7 children ?
That’s why she has 7 kids. 😂
