The Girl I Left Behind - Bob Dylan - live on Oscar Brand's Folk Song Festival radio show, 1961.

This is the only known performance by Bob Dylan of this traditional song (Roud 262) which goes by various names including My Parents Raised me Tenderly, and The Wealthy Squire. It appears to have started life as a printed broadside ballad in 19th century England but several versions were collected in the United States in the early years of the 20th century. There is some debate regarding where Dylan got his version from and it has even been suggested that rewrote some of the verses. He reused much of the opening verse for his own (unreleased) composition, Long Time Gone in 1962.
