    Phew, lucky that the protection kicks in so quickly. Nice piece of test equipment.

      LOL - yes - the protection in this amp is fantastic! ;)

    What a lovely frequency response analyzer! I guess Audio Precision and QuantAsylum can do Bode plots as well. I wonder if there will be any noticeable differences between the three of them. I like this video!

    Could you do the same by using the inyection transformer and a Rigol or Discovery oscilloscopes with Bode plot function or Bode 100 is mandatory?. Thanks!

      Thanks for asking! You could do a similar thing;) The noise floor and A/D processing with the Omicron is far better. However - what is good enough for Bode Plots? The Omicron shines with some of the other tests that are possible.

      Yes.
      I can't be sure from the video if it's your scrambled egg presentation or if you don't actually know what you were looking at...
      Lets start with the obvious questions...
      Do you know what's inside that little amplifier?
      Do you actually know how it works?
      Do you know what your bode plot was telling you?
      Let me tell you what I saw...
      I saw an amplifier that is almost ruler flat from 20hz to 20khz.
      Knowing there is a second order low pass filter on the outputs (to remove the PWM carrier) the bump at 60khz is of no concern whatsoever. It is the LC output filter going into a poorly damped resonance at frequencies that would be totally silent in most recordings and at frequencies no living creature can hear.
      That bump at 60khz is never going to matter with the amplifier in general use, but you spent half the video focusing on it. if you had set your output chart for 100khz and fed it a 10hz to 22khz sweep... you would never have seen it, which would be the case in joe's living room.
      I assume (you never said) that you were running on the 32 volt supply that comes with the amplifier and an 8 ohm dummy load. In that case 1 volt RMS will drive it to clipping at about 50 watts RMS in which case the output filters will saturate and exaggerate that filter bump rather noticeably. Operated below clipping it's generally about 2db. So it's obvious you were not monitoring your outputs.
      All of this leaves me with one simple question ... What was your point???

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  Місяць тому +3

      Well sorry you didn't like it. I think you were so triggered that you didn't hear me saying essentially the same as much of what you said here.
      I'm not in Joe's living room - I am in my lab where I am trying to characterize the bandwidth of this amp. I could not do that if I followed your simplistic 20kHz band limit. However, once I do characterize the bandwidth of this amp - I not only show that it doesn't change with signal level input - but I also show how the left and right channel track.
      I think show that if I lower the bandwidth sweep - that I can bring up the power level without the amp going into protection mode. j
      My scope is connected and I am actually watching the signal. I ended up cutting this out of the video as it was getting too long. Some videos end up taking way too much of my time, but I hope the next ones in this series go better. Sorry if that made this one look - what did you say - scrambled egg? Well - at least it is free to watch - and I am the only one spending my time struggling to get these videos posted on my weekend. Thanks for your support.

      My friend, I don't get "triggered" by stuff like this. I've been in the game since the mid 70s... follow the link to my website that I sent you in email...
      What does concern me is that technical information is presented in a manor that actually makes sense. If you are going to teach... teach. If not, then at least tell people you're just messing around with your fancy toys.
      As I said yesterday _"Tools do not a mechanic make"_ ... maybe you missed that part.
      Meanwhile, I'll just put your channel back on my ignore list.
      Have a nice day.

    • @KissAnalog
      @KissAnalog  Місяць тому +2

      Well - it is evident that you didn't hear what I said - or you wouldn't have repeated so much of what I said as if you were revealing something new. It seems that you are also triggered that I have so much nice equipment. I'm an engineer - not a mechanic, so you'll have to find a new quote that fits. I can't teach someone who thinks they know everything. I can tell from your writings and your website - that you are knowledgeable - but I can also tell there are large holes in your understanding. But, I don't think they will get filled with your attitude.
