2 years ago mixed up scarlettina with bitter beech. When you say bitter your not wrong. Two days i could taste one mouthful. Like bile.
Such great mushroom intel!
Excellent video! Lots of information in a very friendly language. Thanks!
This channel is Golden! Great job! Thank you!
i believe i found some of these last month in my local wood, that looked very dated and now i realise it was late for them. i will know now for next year😀
Great as usual!
Very informative. Only question, how come I find the Boletus Chrysenteron here late November
I always knew that the bitter bolete was the Tylopus Felleus .. The one that you show might be pretty ucommon in my country(switzerland)
Great video 💯
This video is great.
love you videos 🍄
thanks :)
you need to come back
Can you do some more mushroom videos in Aug 2020? Can't get enough :)
will do :)
Do you guys get lobster mushrooms up in the UK? They are reddish and look/sound delicious. If you ever find some, do a video!
I've never seen any :( Can't find any listings of it either...
Everything I read and seen the red cracking bolete stains blue.
You are supposed to soak them for an hour or so to loose slightly the bitter taste. My parents used to soak them in milk when milk was good and cheap too..
Do you have a channel for wildlife? I see you have some great pictures on Facebook
no just the mushrooms and plants vids, plus one dung beetle and a hornet :)
I saw the hornet. Was that Alfie with you?
I have a ruby bolete that I collected tody, looks very similar to the red cracked bolete in this video. The ruby bolete is not edible.
Wild food UK the chrysenteron we found here in BC Canada turned blue after cutting... is that normal?
Probably a Ruby Bolete. (Hortiboletus) very similar, but inedible, and does blue on cutting. They should mention it as they look so alike.
No we are sure it is a Red Cracked Bolete Xerocomellus Chrysenteron
@@johnrichardson3297 Are you sure? If it turns blue when it oxidises then it surely must be Ruby Bolete.
Afaik, the bitter beech bolete IS poisonous, yet you are unlikely to eat a dangerous amount of it because it tastes so bad.
