- The Lurid Bolete is an extremely variable looking mushroom, and certainly not one for the novice forager. By www.wildfooduk.com

Literally gasped when you showed the inside, that's incredible it's so vibrant!!
I only forage a few mushrooms I am sure of. I find you videos really helpful to identify what I discover
I get the feeling your videos will save my life one day
You’re the best man keep up the great work! People need more teachers like you❤️
thank you!!!!!
I flipping love this channel and mushrooms!
Thanks x nice to see this being taught and Taught Well...
The blue disappears when they are cooked. They are quite common. The toxic boletes are rare, really really rare. I have never seen either of the rare boletes. In 30 years of mushrooming, I've seen loads of death caps, panther caps and destroying Angels. The death cap is surprisingly common. Dangerously so.
Saute the slices in butter until the colour changes. Then test for seasoning. They are quite a tasty bolete.
@@mrsenstitzThankyou
Good identification.
Very nice and useful video. I want to suggest to you when you compare two or more mushroom, please put some photos of them in the video to see the differences. Thanks.
Again, very informative, to date have not come across devils bolete,
Found a pair outside the chipshop yesterday
Great video as always thank you.
Great video Marlow. I got your book also. So helpful. I bring it with me where I go now👍
GOOD INFO :)
Nice find, mushroom season might start early this year. I wonder if the porcini are out ? Have to go mushroom hunting, this mushroom is one of my favorites it has a nutty crunchy texture when fried in butter. All the ink disappears when cooked this is an amazing mushroom.
I think I just found those next to my parking space in town centre x very interesting videos
They get pretty big. The lurid bolete. You have to cook them. I've been eating them for years. They taste really good.
I just found one in Brooklyn NY ! How did u cook it?
Ate (Red Cracked Bolete) Xerocomellus Chrysenteron(Bolete) here in BC Canada. Similar but also edible
I enjoy some nice ones that strain blue. The bay bollette and others. It's education that helps.Yes don't eat if not 100% sure
Austin tx here i tot tons of em here
liking the no red no blue safety rule. So to be sure, are any 'bolete-like' spongey pores mushroom without red not blue, fully safe then? And how well might this apply to Switzerland or Slovenia for example? Thanks
Could you please tell me a good place for hunting in Gloucestershire ?
Interesting how the areas around the bug holes don’t stain blue
I found some in a hotel's territory in Ukraine. The caretaker said he'd eat it himself from time to time, well cooked. Netted foot, the coloring scheme is ok -- NO chalk whatsoever on the cap.
The lower base of the stem turns wine red while freshly cut when I cleared it of mud.
The dark line was clearly visible, but curiously only in one of them, despite all of them being collected from the same spot.
I have eaten this mushrooms for over ten years with no problem at all maybe because I am an Asia?
what about a pied rouge?
So,,are you saying that if it has no red and doesn't stain blue, it's not toxic? Not sure that is accurate, but I'm a real novice with boletes. Just picked a few different varieties. It's Fall here. In a pine forest. They look like skinny stemmed Porcini. They are not bitter. Actually a nibble and spit test says they taste like mushroom... Trying so hard to find an ID.
Are you from Bristol ? Im trying to work out your accent
Born in Colchester, lived most of my life on south London apart from 7 years in scotland, and 7 years in Hereford, so the accent is a mish mash :)...
