@@ashiau There's nothing wrong about defending a country's borders. However, that's not the point.
      The point is:
      1. If it were about borders' DEFENSE, ALL borders through the East, West and North would be as zealously guarded as the South's. They are not. The border with Canada is in its majority an open field. If it were about defense, a terrorist couldn't easily choose among a myriad of entry points.
      2. This is about racism. It's about populst, simple minded perspectives that "foreigners come to take our jobs". When in fact, as a developed nation, we suffer from the same problem all developed nations suffer. Only desperate, new immigrants are willing to take unsavory jobs, that are still necessary within a society, and jobs that offer low wages and no benefits.
      3. This wall construction from both Republican and Democrat presidents is an unsuccessful bandaid that wastes our resources, just to appease the masses. But doesn't really address the issue of illegal immigration.
      That is the point.

Well for one if you watch quite a bit of UA-cam videos about the border.
You find out that a lot of them are just regular citizens of Mexico wanting a better life for their selves but because of our border immigration problems we do not have a system that is set up to handle 50 billion people trying to come in every month yes that was an over exaggerated number.
Quite a few with the UA-cam videos show people talking to the illegal immigrants and saying that we’re just tired of the immigration system the border system we just wanna come work and have a better life for ourselves but to get a green card to get a work visa it can take you up to 12 years Why aren’t these politicians when they have the money building better facilities hiring more judges hiring more border crossing agents to help this system move faster
I think a gentleman and his wife and two kids would probably go to the border and do it legally if they know that they’re gonna have their answer within a week or two not months

There's a peculiar fact about US-Mexico border, and this was just a speculation about the antecedents of a battle after the starting of Mexican Revolution. And one of their revolutionary heads leading the troop of horsemen just crossed the border while he's chased by Texan rangers, the identity of that horseman was Doroteo Arango (widely known as Pancho Villa).

    • @UnionBlue-h8e

Because like the anti Texas legion by Benjamin lundy who points out this problem, many people have been misled by those interested or involved in it, or misled by the misrepresentations of the newspaper press or hireling writers. Like then, they believe the Texans are fighting for the sacred causes of liberty and freedom, while the truth of the matter, and their whole incentives to action have been from commencement, of a direct opposite character and tendency. It is conquest and territorial aggrandizement of Mexico, there is no smoothing or shaping this one. Combine endless riches and fable tales or wealth in Mexico, with Mexicos common distracted populations and weaker military, and you’ll get in sight into the motives to which drives the U.S conquest and war with Mexico.

Most are not fixated per se. If Germany were connected to Egypt not Austria in the south, and this Egypt was connected to the rest of Africa and the Middle East still, you’d see it differently. The strange border to me is between the US and Canada which is the largest un-militarized one in the world. Yet the Canadians are still very strict when passing it.

And god had it written, “thou shall not covet anything that is thy neighbors or his goods”, you do realize it is the United States who is the invader and covetter in this respect to Mexico? Read the anti Texas legion by Benjamin Lundy (60 pages) or the war with Mexico reviewed by Abiel Livermore (the best review of the war) to inform yourself of the facts, here’s a quote for you:
“It is no honor to us , we the stronger nation one who can afford to pay any price, that we must attack and take from the weaker, it is no honor to us that we must cover an entire continent, when we could have found ample work in what we already had (Original 13 States) . And just as we have acquired by might and not by right, possessions of portions of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, Chihuahua, and all of New Mexico and upper California, we must sooner or later suffer the most condign punishment for this gigantic crime! We had territory enough already, room enough and to spare, a providence resting from two remote oceans, the new territory proposes new challenges, and has many perpetual inroads, they are not valuable, they will take a large standing army to defend, they will impose heavy debts on the treasury, they will destroy the value of property in the country, and they essentially have already costed us more than what they were worth, in the words of the wise American philosopher, Benjamin Franklin, it was “paying too dearly for the whistle”!
-Abiel Livermore, war with Mexico reviewed
