- “Like a human jungle”. The journey across Mexico has become harder than ever for migrants hoping to reach the US. While illegal immigration is a big issue in the US election, the number of illegal border crossings is actually down significantly. A lot of that is because of what Mexico is doing.

I am Mexican and something that really upset to all mexicans, is how most migrants that cross Mexico are so UNGRATEFUL.
Let me explain. (the whole story)
In Mexico, ALL migrants are welcome including those that are crossing illegally. Mexico help them with shelter, albergues, food, paperwork and healthcare in their crossing the whole country, even they have the option to apply for asylum, refugee, etc. and help them to establish and stay in Mexico, even it was a time that the Mexican government offered them housing, jobs and legal permanent residency, BUT they REJECTED. When there are millions of mexicans in need.
Mexican people ALWAYS help them with food, clothes, shelter, medicine, etc. But most migrants are entitled, bad attitude and behavior and playing with victim's mindset and don't appreciated all the sacrificed that mexican people do.
Migrants talk about violence, robbery and portraits Mexico as the worst, but if they are coming illegally and paying criminals to take risky routes, what would they expect? is NOT a trip to Disneyland.
They are feel in a jail? they are complaining that is taking so long for the appointment? Really? the audacity and entitlement.
The 99% of the migrants are LYING.
They are not fleeing because of violence or persecution, but because of economic reasons, they want to earn US dollars.
Most venezuelans were living in another countries (Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Brasil) but social media and soft immigration policies changed in USA they begin to fleeing to USA.
All this mess began back in 2014 during "the caravanas people" from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. They were demanding everything; food, shelter, medicine, and enter to USA. remember the migrant kids? All of that became in a mass public opinion, in the news media, not just only in the USA but also in the world.
That is why Trump won the election.

agreed, I'm from Tecate a small city on the border, and as a kid I remember the people here being generous with the migrants but all of that changed in the last decade. Now people don't care or even look at the immigrants and when they do interact its usually hostile or violent, like kicking them out of areas to not allow the creation of camps or not allowing them to ask for money in front of businesses.

They are running away to a country that offers a brighter future of prosperity than they could ever achieve in their own country. I have yet to see a single uHaul trailer filled with home goods arriving from Mexico at our Southern border. They arrive with the clothes on their back and whatever they can carry in a bag in the hopes of starting a new life in a country where they may or may not be fluent in the language spoken there. They would rather have stayed home if the prospects of them achieving their dreams or goals for themselves were achievable there. It's not an easy decision to make and many leave family members behind because they aren't able to make the journey and that adds to their continued fondness for what was once their home so they fly that flag and it reminds them of how far they've come. Don't think for a moment that your ancestors made a trek in a similar fashion but the big difference is that when they arrived, people gave a friendlier reception than what we Americans are giving the newbies today.

My 63 yr old cousin was killed on her way to work crossing the street by an illegal migrant, driving w/out insurance or a driver's license. He was cited and given a court date. He absconded. And that's what compassion for law breakers gets you.

My nephews friend was shot and killed by a young man in a convenient store because he told the kid that he shouldn’t steal in return the kid shot him in the head. He didn’t try to stop him just said he shouldn’t steal and that’s all it took. After that he went straight back to Mexico and the American Government eventually found him in Mexico and brought him to justice. I worked with a woman who came as a child with their parents as illegal aliens as they are called legalese, and she told me that she would never want to go back to try to change things in Mexico. She also told me that when people come here illegally, it's so that they can work here in America and send money back to Mexico so they can retire within 15-20 years. They have no intention on learning English or assimilating into our culture. She said many of them stay within their Mexican groups where a few people can speak English and they rely on them to translate. These illegals are only coming here to work and make money. Some might have asylum rights, but that's the exception.
and their kids act like they have no intention of being real students either. Don't get me wrong, I have heard of the scholar Latinas and I am proud of them, but those are not what the schools I've been substituting in exhibit.
Work permit should be legit. We have lazy Americans who rather not work and complain about jobs being taken by immigrants yet they don’t want to work in the fields or work as hotel workers.

Coming to the US and feeling entitled to the benefits; sucks that people here in the US keep working and being taxed and increasing taxes to accommodate expenses that we are not liable. Then when they get here, no effort in learning English which is the language of many. I’ve met so many people who have been here for 20-40 years without speaking English and we have to adjust to their language like wtf. This is NOT the American people’s problem saving all the poor.

I was Border Patrol for four years in the late 90's. Immigration policies literally violate the law and let all sorts of people exist illegally right under agents' noses. It was disgusting and full of bureaucrats reading their pension reports all day and dreaming of retirement. Almost no one in leadership was doing their jobs. Just playing the game the way Washington and Dallas wanted it like good little boys playing policeman. I would love to go back and implement the plan I had to deport illegals and seize their assets to pay for it. And to make it so bad to hire one that no one would even take the chance of hiring one. I mean like lose your house, bank account, and business bad. The only way to destroy illegal immigration is to remove any and all incentive.

While some of the efforts we made may have seemed harsh we aided anyone in need where possible and in a way that didn't interfere heavily with our mission. I can say that in those days we all carried gallon jugs of drinking water in our personal vehicles. We had a rule that if a group of brush walkers came to the road and needed water or food we would give them what we had and not call our buddies or the sheriff's office. I also had a day when I was driving to Laredo and there was a Mexican family on the way to San Antonio that had gotten a flat. All of their tires were pretty old so I drove them the 30 miles into Freer to get a new tire mounted and then drove them back and helped put the new tire on their truck. All of this while countless vehicles with Mexican plates drove by ignoring these folks. So it was the gringo Border Patrol agent who took the time to help. One of my fellow agents asked me why I took half of my day off to drive these folks around. My answer was, I couldn't just leave them there. My complaint about people when they talk about immigration is really that they just don't know what they are talking about.
We came to Canada legally, took us 4 years waiting for our case to be heard , we had backgrounds checks, medical test done & more … we had to have a job & housing lined up … that’s the right way of doing it …..

I think they'll be shocked if say they settled in California as an example, and the minimum monthly rent for an apartment is like $2,000 - 2.5k, even in the hood, and obviously the migrants are extremely broke, their 1000 pesos they brought is nothing in America, the homes are basically all a million dollars and over.
They say they're escaping gang violence in their country, but in California, especially Los Angeles, it's gang capital of the US, there are Crips, Bloods, Hoovers, other Black gangs, countless hundreds or thousands of Mexican gangs, Asian gangs, Pacific Islander gangs, etc., etc., plenty of gang violence, even a racial gang war in LA at times.
And I have Mexican-American / Chicano friends, so I know from seeing the areas they live in, these blocks of apartments are completely filled up, jammed pack. I only see Hispanic people in that area, its so packed, there's no parking, have to double park right on the street, and not surprisingly there's a Mexican gang there, they claim hundreds or thousands of apartments as their hood, their varrio (the hood), and as you would expect, they go to war against other Mexican gangs... There are shootings, stabbings, assaults, robbing, gang graffiti all over the walls, all that. Plenty of Mexican and Mexican gang violence. It's pretty ghetto in the hood, but I don't think these Hispanic paisas from Latin America realize that.
Not to mention, if they had an ultimate dream job in the US, chances are that dream will be crushed as they stand in front of Home Depot for hours, and in front of Home Depot there are really like... 25 - 100 Hispanic paisas all over Home Depot, they're all desperately looking for a job, they will wave you down as you pass by them in your car. In America, their jobs are being a gardener, landscaper, help with moving, cleaning, washing dishes, picking cotton, picking fruits and vegetables out in the sun for 8 - 12 hours, construction work, milking cows, stuff like that... and I believe they work 2-3 jobs from the early morning to night just to be paycheck to paycheck, sometimes they work so much, can't properly watch them, their kids become gangsters, cholos, thugs, drug dealers (slanging that mota, crystal, skante, fentanyl, pills)... I seen it with my own eyes, it is also glorified in West Coast LA gangster music, they listen to that and for some them, that's what they want to do.

Not when you receive free rent, free healthcare, free food, free education, utilities, phone, clothes....AND get to work and keep all the money you earn.... which is now the situation for all the migrants in hotels. Just imagine if America offered this same luxury to American citizens who are trying to get on their feet. To the contrary...make $1 too much get kicked off food stamps
I do have empathy for these people who feel they have no other option but to leave their own country however, at some point, those people have to be able to apply the pressure needed to change their country's situation. The US wasn't founded in a day. It took a lot of pain, sacrifice, work, investment and strength of character to build it into what we have today. If what they want is what we have, it will take all of that to build up their own country rather than expecting us to provide it for them.

When my 74 year old mother almost went blind last year due to not being seen and being asked to wait in line behind a room full of illegals at the local urgent care center , even though she carried health insurance and medicaid my perspective changed. She worked her whole life here in the U.S only to retire and wait for hours behind those that stood in front of her illegally !!! Then it happened to my friends mom right after , almost died for the same reason . Our hospitals are over crowded and under staffed , and there are no beds for our own citizens . This is not acceptable and not how the people who built this country deserve to die . As a person that has applied for a work visa in other countries I can also attest to the fact that I knew if I stayed beyond the expiration I risked going to jail , and I had a healthy fear of this known consequence .No other country would tolerate this . If they have no address there is no where to send the bill. If they do not pay their bill the cost of their care is passed on to those who are paying for insurance. That is why health insurance premiums are so high. I paid for an Obamacare policy out of pocket and with a subsidy my MONTHLY premium was over $700. Illegal immigration is a cancer on this society.
My good friend was a trucker all his working life and a navy veteran , one day while working in his garage he accidentally dropped a trailer hitch on his foot , he went to emergency and while waiting in the lobby a family of undocumented people entered they filled the required forms to get FREE care (my friend helped them fill the forms) . after they took care of his smashed toe they gave him a bill for $4000 but told him if he paid cash it would be $2800 which he paid with his credit card . He did not have medical insurence and did not qualify for the FREE medical , because he had to retire at 62 he did not have any kind of medical coverage for 3 years until he turned 65 .
Fixing immigration is not a Democratic and or Republican issue, it’s a national issue in our country and need addressing from all parties.

During the 80’s, I applied for U.S. citizenship from Canada. It took 2 years: first for residency, so many processes and waiting…. I was obliged to hire an immigration attorney which cost $2,000.00. Many interviews to verify whether I could support myself and not be a burden. It was a long debilitating struggle! We cannot allow these massive invasions at the cost of taxpayers, not when so many Americans are suffering for lack of basic necessities.
Americans worked hard to get a free county, the U.S. of A. We fought many wars. We lost many Americans to war for our freedom. We have built this nice country and culture by hard work.

There is such a burden on immigrants that have come to the US LEGALLY because the process is ignored by undocumented immigrants. They complain about a few months of waiting, when so many people here have waited years just for their appointments and have to wait longer because asylum seekers are pressuring the system and getting preference. Maybe do a show on how illegal immigration affects legal immigrant families in the US..
I live in South America, it cost me $47k to the government for my visa, that doesn't account the attorney applying for the visa on my behalf and I have to wait 2-3 years before I can become a resident. It should have been only two years but since my incompetent attorney (you have to use the ones here) didn't fill out the application correctly, they didn't count my first year. smh

Not a lot of people know that or only know that the US dollar has more value then most currencies in South America. It’s cheaper too because international flight is a lot more expensive. Considering that it’s Asia the laws may be different about who gets taken in and who gets sent back and that’s where people are risking a lot of money.

5 years ago I applied to become a legal immigrant but I need to pass the NCLEX, IELTS (English exam) Medical and to spend much money and need to pass the embassy interview but this people could just enter the border? We lived very disciplined, that is, not having many children, men must be responsible for the women who gave birth to their children! But there are some people in Mexico who come to America. They give birth to their children, they are not responsible for raising their children and they let the American government raise their children. So what about us? We go to work to earn money to pay taxes. Those taxes are to support us in our old age. But those men who are not responsible for their women give birth to many children and do not provide for their children and do not put in their efforts to build the country they live in. They ask for government subsidies to raise their children. Five years ago in America everyone had the right to receive retirement at age 65, but now on retirement 67year olds are entitled to receive proper pension. So America also has to take care of their country.

I was born in Argentina, and I will tell u a story. Around 5 years ago, I met a Venezuelan couple ,a man ,his wife and a boy of around 11 years old,came to Argentina, from Venezuela crossing through Brazil, and Bolivia. They got in and here in this small town we live in of around 10.000 people, they arrived, met owner church and started attending, and now aftet thesr few years they have a good job, a nice place to live and the guy had madehis own house, all with hard work and sacrife. Not only in the us one can be better, here in Argentina u can be better too. But with God's help and Providence.

We don’t have jobs here. I’m unemployed and have been looking for a job for months now. There’s no housing for them. We are citizens here and can barely afford the prices of housing. What makes them think they’re going to come here and make this beautiful great life for themselves when we can’t even have that and we live here for years, born and raised. My stepmom is from Nicaragua. She came here the right way with her papers and did not seek asylum. And she has made a life for herself because she did it the right way. She didn’t sit at no Mexican border waiting to cross. She didn’t do anything that these people are doing. Please go to your country and just do things the right way.

The reason is that the democrats have been trying to keep the border open to destabilize the American economy. You have no idea how much the liberals hate America. These people don't like the cold, they are basically lazy, they have no job skills which translate to the USA. The average IQ is 77. But non profits using our tax dollars are down here encouraging them to go to the US, again using our tax dollars.

The people who have the mental and physical strength to journey like that to another country, should have the mental and physical strength to pull together to bring change to their home land. That is how the USA was created. They should work for change in their own country for their families, friends, and neighbors.
They are to seek asylum in the first country that is safe, not the USA. If not in the wars zone, no asylum. Stay in their country and try to make their own country better. They need to apply for citizenship in other countries other than the usa
