Do u install the vent damper in open or closed position

Where are the leads placed. One is in the spill switch, where exactly is the spill switch? Then the other is in the safety switch.

Greetings. My plumber states I need a new flu damper / motor, and that he's placed the damper in "manual mode." (I don't know if this is through the damper assembly or programmatically). I have a hydronic system and I'm not concerned with heat loss from the boiler. Can I just leave the damper open without worry? If not, is the troubleshooting software shown in your video available and useful? Thanks! Vic
