You left out an important part. Fixing neck lines caused by joining a head and body with slightly different textures.

Have you ever run into the issue of the body/neck being a different size than the head you’re trying to put on? I’ve been struggling with this because my neck is way thicker on the body than the avatar I’m taking the head from. I can’t get it to look quite right with just scaling. Any suggestions?

This is actually alot more informative. Sadly I found this after I quit on the model I was working with. One thing I know is I'm using a different version of Blender but hopefully it'll work.

Ok I've done that and it's worked well but for some reason in unity it says I need to map out the shoulders
For some reason I have an issue doing this. After merge it separates the two like before I aligned them and they get shrunken very small. To the point I thought the models had vanished.

What should we do if we cant remove the head from the model we want to change? I dont see the tab to delete the head.

I have a queston: how do you merge armature points in the hair. I have a model I want the front hair to move but there are too many separate armature links for individual hair strand movements and due to the constraints on the quest upload I want to link chunks of hair into one piece and have it move as one instead of several separate pieces. I need to remap the armature to include all the hair bits into one chain.
How do this, do you have a tutorial for that?

Would you be able to explain how to fix our bones/meshes when errors pop up? I got an error saying “Please makes sure that the parent of the merge armature has the following transformations:
* Location at 0
* Rotation at 0
* Scale at 1”
late reply, but make sure you select your asset (this being the head you want to apply) then press ctrl+a. once you do that click location, rotation and scale. that will set the position you moved your asset to, to 0,0,1

What version of blender did you use for these models to be merged as I have a body from vroid studio with the clothing I had sorted out for it and I have imported a body from ready player me and wanted to swap heads from the ready player me to the vroid body, is this possible?
how do you remove hair cause ive been suffering
Separate your model by materials and the hair should be it's own object. Then just select it, and X to delete. Then fix your model again with "zero weight bones" being deleted and the hair armature will delete also.
So i'm having an issue with a head swap. If i merge the head and body and check the remove zero bones it removes the eye bones from my head. So i uncheck that and the bones work fine. However the problem is i don't have any eyes in my armature. I have my eye bones but i don't have the Orange Triangle Eye section to add a texture.
The second problem i had was i added the eyes into the armature and exported it but when i tried to move my eyes with the random eye movement previews in UNITY, my eyes did not move in the preview (3.0sdk). So im confused if the bones did not attach to my object.
For me it said that I didn’t have head,eyes,and jaw bone.

Hello, do you know how to put a unity package into blender because the model i like i found it on vrcmods and when i go to import it in to blender it either has messed up textures, materials ,and glitches out. If you know a fix please let me know. Thanks
you need to open the unity package and import just the fbx, not the unity package.

Please do merge meshes for the sake of performance
If you want to work on the meshes they would be separated, then merged at the end just before export.

I had that problem, for me it fixed reinstalling blender and download and install cats again. good luck!
merging them keeps removing my leg armatures
are your leg armatures weight painted? If you merge and remove zero weight bones, it'll delete everything not weight painted... you may need to test the armatures you're merging for weight paint issues.

That's not working for me tho.. the head is on but the eye bones and the tounge won't stick with the head.
You can go into the bones tab (near the materials tab) and click on "relations" and make sure the parent bone forr the eyes and tongue is set to the head :)
