    I wish there were more videos like this out there. I'm always interested in the long term evolution of an aquascape, how it looks when it's just planted, when it's going through growing pains, what it looks like when matured, and how it looks when it's maintained for a year or more. Obviously, challenging to accomplish from the content creation side, but very educational for us viewers :)

    I love this video! Finally someone is showing the everyday issues we all face when setting up an aquarium. Personally, I had constant problems with driftwood. It took ages before it went to the bottom and I had a huuuge growth of the fungy slimely thing you also mentioned. Unfortunately, in my case neither otos neither amanos didn't want to consume it, so I was left alone with a toothbrush... I really had to be patient but it's getting nicer and nicer and I envy my husband who's working from home and can observe it almost all day long.

    At last a video from day 1!! Could you please answer two more things which I was missing from the video: 1. Do I have to decrease the light intensity in the first few weeks and how many hours should I let them on. 2. The CO2 should be running all the time on low or normal dose and should stop 2 hours before the lights go off. Thank you for the great video!

    • @GreenAquaShop

      Learning process, you'll figure out a lot of things like, do I have enough filtration? How's my water flow? Are my lights on to much, too little? Am I dosing enough ferts, or to much? It's a balance issue we all go through and it's frustration. This video makes it look like it's easy but it's not. These guys have been doing this for years so they know how to set up everything to work better than the rest of us. Not that I'm down playing the video, it's a good one, just not enough explanation to all the questions I just presented to you.

    Late to the party. I have a gift 🎉 I did this and am too successful 4 months later. No spikes, lush green plants all from being a little patient. The addition of some great Dwarf Gouramis and a pair of Peppered Cory’s and the fun began. These fish provide the fertilizer. The plants provide O2 and cover.

    As a new enthusiast. I have 3 questions (Vote up if anyone in chat has these too)
    1. Are fish needed to be added to a planted tank ? Or can this hobby be about plants and the scape ?
    2. Why I ask the question above is , what happens if you need to have a 7 day holiday? How do you prepare? Or does the hobby turn into a full time job ?
    3. If we need to go out for 7 days, how to stop anxiety even if we have automated ferts, filtration, lighting, timers, co2 and feeding ?
    Would love a video of how hobbyists can comfortably take time off as well? What say ?
    Thanks

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 роки тому

      1. Can scaping without fish,but I think an aquarium is nothing without fish (my opinion).
      2. If have automatic ferts,nothing. :)
      Before U go, do an 50% water change,and repeat,when arrived.
      If U havn't auto ferts,can add the whole ferts for this week, without excel or carbo.
      3. Just stop anxiety,I have no advice. Probably all scapers concerned,when need to go.

    Thank you! You got me started this new hobby after watching all your videos. I guess this video came at the right time, I am 2 weeks into the new water cycle and I noticed my Monte Carlo and Staurogyne repens started melting away and thread algae forming around it. Any idea why is it so? And what should I do?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 роки тому

      Algae comes because of the melting. The melting is a transformation of the plant into the underwater form. We do see that sometimes, with lean fertilizers we like to add more Nitrate and Phosphate ferts on the side to promote growth.

    Nice video guys. Just a quick one about the background vinyl, why are you guys standardising with white instead of frosted one?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 роки тому

      The frosted one will let through some colors from the background, we just like the white better...

    Great video Tommy.
    I encourage to make more videos like this. And showing their routines.
    I have a question, if we have Kh 2 adding ADA GREEN BRIGHTY K and Amazonia substrate. Not enough to keep a tampon and not have a drop in Ph?
    What is the Kh that Tommy recommends us in the video? 2,3,4 ... Kh2

    A good layout as always. Thanks guys. Indeed, I made a mistake once with my nano 23L. I turned off the filter to feed my fish and I just forgot to turn it on . Next days I had to deal with a big nitirite issue. Some shrimps died. So, guys how can you add algae eaters from week two ?. Normally, I need to wait until week 4 in order to get low nitrite levels. Otherwise shrimps can't stand that. Cheers!

      We do regular water changes. And add bacteria from day 1.

      Don't know the fluval or sumsum filters sorry. But they are all very small for me for that tank size. Good luck with your tank, check out our tutorials (filter guide, substrate guide) for more info.

    At about 9:58 you put the lily pipe into liquid. I guess that it is your CleanIt liquid requiring 30-60 minutes time to be effective. Is it OK for the bacteria in the external filter to have the filter turned off for that amount of time?

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 роки тому

      For lily pipes usually shorter time is enough. But a water change typically takes an hour or so.

    Hi the Team (Armel from France) Nice video. Very instructive. 2 Questions : 1 - To put fish and algae eaters so fast (2 and 3 weeks) - how have you accelerated the nitrogen cycle ? 2 - When you do a 50% water change every day for the first week, when you add fertilizers after adding water, the new proportions are calculated on 100% of the liter? or 50% of the liter ? Bye !

    • @GreenAquaShop
      @GreenAquaShop  3 роки тому +1

      1. Yes, bacteria and frequent water changes, and big filters, always.
      2. yes. always fertilize back. 100% of the tank.

    Would love a video that goes in depth with RO water. There is lack of information on this topic. Specially with remineralization of RO water in combination of a active substrate.
