    You have to put it in gear for the water to come through the engine to cool it off. Doesn’t do it in neutral.

      @JimKivi Рік тому +1

      Disagree. It will "pee" in Neutral, but the water level in the bucket needs to be higher....ABOVE the impeller housing.
      Also, might have started if you gave it a pull or two with CHOKE, then choke off.

    As noted before, I owned a 1969 Oday Mariner. When I was a kid, a buddy and I spent the night on my Oday in the harbor where I docked her. Early the next morning we headed out for a sail, however, the weather wasn't the best to take this boat out in. Anyway, away we went, fighting what seemed big to us waves on the nose. Wind was blowing 15-20. With sails up we attempted to tack back and forth across the ship channel. During one of those tacks the tiller snapped at the head of the rudder. We quickly started the British seagull to take us back to the safety of the harbor a mile or so away. Unfortunately we sheared the pin in the propeller (anyone who has owned a Seagull would appreciate our situation). We threw out the anchor and despite severe rocking was able to pull the engine and lay it in the cockpit. In no time we replaced the pin, installed the motor on the mount, and had it running. As we entered the mouth of the harbor we ran out of gas! We deployed the anchor again and contemplated our dire situation. Luckily, a crew boat came by and gave us a tow back to the boatslip. Needless to say we stayed tied to the dock that day.

    hard case, I bought a b100 same as yours today, It is mint. Want it for my dinghy, as the seagull I have, with the copper tank, will be too slow. Seagull was completely rebuilt however oil dripper!

    Where do you order parts for your older outboards? I just picked up a b75 and it’s my first outboard. I am wondering where to get parts

      I searched for the part numbers online then did an Amazon search for the part. 90% of the time Amazon had what I needed.

    Hi there, thanks for that video! Have you got any idea what difference there is between the 7,5 hp Motor and the 10 hp Honda? Is it only the higher rpm of the 10 hp motor or a different carburetor or a different diaphragm? Thanks. Oliver from Mülheim an der Ruhr/West Germany.

    • @restrothunderroad
      @restrothunderroad  Рік тому

      I'm not really sure what all the difference is except for the lower Hp. My guess would be diaphragm size and something to do with the rpms. 🤙⛵

    Hi, enjoyed your video!
    So, i have the same motor and love it it runs strong but at low idle it seems to struggle a bit and sometimes it will konk out. Im thinking it's the idle screw on the carb, can you tell me what you set yours at... how many back turns from seated?
    Thanks for your time and keep the videos coming!

    • @restrothunderroad
      @restrothunderroad  Рік тому

      I'm using an off brand carb so the setting will be different. I would run it, let it warm up real good and adjust the idle screw as it's running until you have it set where you'd like it idled. Hope this helps! ⛵🤙
