Chinchilla’s voice is a thing of wonder - the seemingly effortless control with huge power behind it - definitely an iron fist in a velvet glove. “Fingers” (live for Hunger TV) showcases her voice wonderfully. You are spot on about the harmonies - Ren’s use of dissonance ( and his use of pauses and silences) is unusual but demonstrates the confidence he has in his song writing ability. A thoroughly enjoyable review (nice to get insights from someone whose background is in dialogue and sound production. You are now added to list of vocal coaches, guitar teachers rappers, videographers, film editors, therapists and psychologists who have fallen in love with Ren’s talent 😉).

Ren is a top performer who commands center stage, but he knows he can let others freely perform without it diminishing him, the power of Chinchilla's voice would frighten other singers away from duetting with her but Ren can meet her as far as possible but knows when to just let her shine in her own right. I don't see this as a "duet", it's 2 chalk outlines (ghosts of themselves) like a split personality brought into physical form, performing a song together, they don't have to compliment or match each other, they are both equally valid voices and the fact they do match and compliment each is just beautiful.

@@scottiewsuttonI’m fairly sure Chinchilla has a mic too, on the basis that it picks up her nails brushing over her hair and catching on her earrings, which is quite loud as if extremely close to the mic, which there is no way the mic on Ren would pick up. and the guitar likely recorded separately too, and one audio engineer suggested he also probably used the audio from the camera too to balance and mix the final sound as sometimes the sound quality shifts as the camera moves between them. I don’t have any firm info - only what can be seen in the video and assessments made by a lot of audio specialists reacting to this - but often they have disagreed on what they think is being done. One (a pro opera singer) was sure everything is recorded only on Ren’s mic as the volume of Chinchilla’s performance seems linked to the distance between them. Personally, I think she had a mic, but maybe it didn’t always pick up her performance well and Ren had to drop it out - perhaps her ear rings kept catching on the mic with how dynamic her movements were? I’d love Ren to do a real detailed break down of how he handles recording sessions like this, from choosing the mics through positioning them, and then mixing and producing it into the amazing quality he creates from what must be far from ideal sources.

Once the music starts..who cares... But the voices in the begining i believe reference one of Ren's audio hallucinations when he heard hundreds of people talking while on a bus with just the driver when he was 15. For me it focused in on yhe impression of a records storage room at a mental hospital.

I'm not a movie reaction fan. I DO spend 2 to 3 hours every night watching my favorite MUSIC reactors, though. So, I do absolutely think you should expand to whatever your fan base thinks you should. BUT, I'm a music addict, and it's unlikely that I will personally be checking out that other stuff.

Great reaction! If you don't mind a piece of friendly advice, try not to fall into the habit of pausing every line of the song. You don't need to take it to the extreme like I do, and not pause at all, but the video play time should out weigh the talk time. Just my 2 cents...take it or leave it. lol.
