Marty Music I love your videos and I was looking at some of your older videos and I was wondering what guitar pedal do you use for seven nation army ? Thank have a great day
Absolutely crazy timing. Just saw the video of him recording the solo in the studio...listened to the track and thought...man...would love to learn that outro solo...and then...of course...there you are with it.
First person showing this lick (out of EVERY FAMOUS YT INSTRUCTOR) that mentioned Woman Tone which I think is one of the (many) reasons why everyone is loving this solo. It sounds like 90's Clapton with 70's Clapton rig. Good job Marty!
Thank you so much man. You’ve basically taught me guitar, I couldn’t be more appreciative. Guitar has really consumed my life and its all thanks to you. Much love
Mate you don't know how I celebrate you right now for this video! I sat the last 2h to write down the tabs for that but utterly failed - you saved my day!
Every single Mayer solo is an absolute masterclass in phrasing. He wrote this awesome song that didn't even need a guitar solo at the end yet thank God he included one because it's all kinds of tasty. I don't have a fuzz pedal right now, just built a Bluesbreaker circuit which is pretty low-gain, but when boosted it gets close. I know he's used the Marshall BB before, I'm running into the clean channel of a Bogner Shiva and the biggest tonal difference I can hear from the record is in my hands.... I don't have the technique.
Marty you gotta stop blessing us with these awesome tutorials man! (Being super sarcastic keep it up!) also still waiting on some boyziimen tutorials mainly “water runs dry” no hurry tho I know you’re a busy guitar wizard!
Think he bends up from a between note on the high E (11 bend to 12) instead of the usual 10 to 12 box thing. That’s what makes that part sound unique and catches your ear and makes you go what was that. Didn’t hear that in this tutorial. The rake hammeron didn’t happen either (another distinctive part of this song that catches the ear). It’s a common Mayerism that’s pretty tough. Gotta be critical when you’re Marty and you can get closer.
Brendan Sammut A minor, D, G, C and then back to A minor for New Light. The solo is great for learning by ear as a start. My Sweet Lord is a tune also!
Hi Marty great lesson again!! You're an absolute treasure. I watched almost all of your videos. Could you make a tutorial of "pleaser" by wallows that would be awesome!!
As far as the tone I think he was playing p90s but I can closely replicate it with a single coil on a fuzz pedal turned way down, amp cranked, guitar around 4.5 tone about .5-1.5 and then engage your wah roll it back from 100% to about 88% (guessing). this will damn near nail the tone for me at least. I'm using a Russian Pickle into a Fender 112 super sonic 60 on clean vibrolux setting. Playing with a custom 24 bridge pickup on single coil.
we've learned a lot from Marty on youtube!!! Thanks for all the sharing!!!!! Gonna be using some of those licks on stage this year!!!!! #TheBrothersFootman
I have never been a huge John Mayer fan.. but these sounds are so sweet! Thanks Marty! Can you tell, which amp you use? Ive been wondering before in a few videos now
It's a good video, that amp sounds great too. But I think for this you have to use the super fuzz or a clone to really get close to the actual tone he had on the recording. He used a cranked Fender champ I think?
Hey man! Thanks for the awesome tutorials could you cover 45 by Shinedown with a full breakdown? I have been trying to learn it and nothing is helping me hoping you can! Thanks!
Thanks for supporting MartyMusic! Also I have FREE courses at my site www.MartyMusic.com

The tone on your guitar is straight wicked man. I had to replay the solo about 4 times just to take it in

I just watched a 4 min entire ad. I owe you much more than that Marty. Thanks!
First person showing this lick (out of EVERY FAMOUS YT INSTRUCTOR) that mentioned Woman Tone which I think is one of the (many) reasons why everyone is loving this solo. It sounds like 90's Clapton with 70's Clapton rig. Good job Marty!
Love that this was recorded with a Casino and a vibrochamp cranked. Did a great job recreating that sound and nailed the solo.

Thank you so much man. You’ve basically taught me guitar, I couldn’t be more appreciative. Guitar has really consumed my life and its all thanks to you. Much love

The like "dirty blues tone" he got from the p90's on the -Epiphone Casino Pro- that John was using for the solo.
Mate you don't know how I celebrate you right now for this video! I sat the last 2h to write down the tabs for that but utterly failed - you saved my day!

It's a good video, that amp sounds great too. But I think for this you have to use the super fuzz or a clone to really get close to the actual tone he had on the recording. He used a cranked Fender champ I think?
