@@evanlawton5762 This was actually an old Epiphone on a cranked Blues Jr or something like that. It was definitely an Epiphone on an old Fender amp. He videoed himself recording this solo and it went pretty viral.

There's a great video with Knopfler and Mick Taylor, a rhythm section of Sky and Robbie, backing up Dylan. I get the feeling John Mayer is getting wiser as he gets older. While everyone else is losing their (our) minds. Lots of nonsense in that past that's been put on hold. Lot's of truth, too. As Jerry would say, Standing on the Moon.

@@Arrgh he’s been the soundtrack to my life. On bad days, he’s picked me up. In my spare time I learn his songs on guitar. I’ll never be as good as him but the amount of joy in my life that has come from John’s music and a little stringed wooden box is immeasurable. That’s how he’s changed my life…

Check out Benjamin Francis Leftwich, I'd say he comes pretty close, but John has him beat with the leads and soloing.

I thought that too!! Mayer mentioned in that Zane Lowe interview that he was very focused on what sound he was going after. He also said that is why he felt The Search for Everything, his last album missed the mark: because he just kept writing new songs with new sounds. Found that to be pretty interesting! 🤔
