Man... seriously, this guys really is cooler than the other side of the pillow. What a great person.
The “First Concert” question reminded me... My son’s first concert was to see and hear YOU in Oklahoma City in 1992. He was less than a year old, but he loved it. Sitting on a blanket on the grass with a squirming little boy is the best way to experience James Taylor. Thank you for that lovely memory.❤️✌🏼
Just to hear him talk brings peace to my mind! He must be a very fulfilled and happy man!! I hope he is...
Wow, what a personality!!
James Taylor is a genius!! Could listen to him talking or singing all day!
Me too!
I was at his concert years and years ago when his guitar string broke... he looked at it and said "you can be replaced"... so whimsical and quick... he's amazing!!!
Who could dislike this? It is like having a conversation with him.
Since the late sixties, whenever I'm "down and troubled" I've turned to James Taylor's music -- and as I've gotten older, James Taylor the human being -- to remind myself of our collective humanity. One of the top ten moments of my life was during a personal crossroads: a near-front-row seat at an early 1971 Carnegie Hall concert performance by Mr. Taylor (with Joni Mitchell appearing as a surprise guest). The guitar and music and songwriting and striving to be a decent person were inspired by that concert -- and a cherished memory I could always turn to for some degree of emotional comfort. Thank you James for sharing a part of your life with those of us who have, in one positive way or another, been touched by your music.
How wonderfully said!
Mr.Taylor is very genuine and very down to earth kind of man I think. I am fond of his music!
His music gets me through any troubles or hard times. It's the words but mostly his beautiful voice.
And I thought it was just me.... I too have been listening to J T since the beginning, grew up with his music, and lived by some of his lyrics...still do! I love this guy, and I hope I get the chance to tell him one day what his music did for me, how it anchored me at times, how at times it helped me to focus....how it kept me sane at times! We all are so lucky to have been born into a musical era of a conglomerate of artists that were incredibly naturally talented, so very dedicated, and so awakening! James Taylor is the closest to my heart.... and soul.
I was at the concert when he messed up the name of the town. It was in Virginia, in the 90s. we were all confused for a second. I didn't think we treated him badly. We loved him anyway. Traveling everywhere is confusing sometimes. Proper City name or not, his music has always comforted me and made me smile
I think I've been to a concert where the artist messed up too. I'm sure it's so easy to do.
A living legend, and one of the most interesting and intelligent artist of our time
James is such a smooth man! He’s like a poet, choosing his words every so carefully and they just work well, just as his music does.... he’s a class act!
It's 'ever so carefully' lol...
Happy birthday James Taylor bless you praise the Lord thank you Jesus amen
If I could "thumbs up" this video one thousand times, I would.
James is a grace of God, I have listened to him since the early seventies and have never abandoned him in both happy and sad moments. Thank you James ...... Thank you thank you thank you ...
This is so great. James is such an honest, kind human being. What a great venue to come to know him in a deeper, more sensitive way. Good job!
James is very wise, having lived through so much. It is well to listen to him.
Gottan love him. He was so beautiful looking when he was young. We all fancied him. Great songwriter.
James Taylor always does the trick. He calms me doen with his sooying melodic magnificent voice.
Thanks for being a good sport James! You tackled those questions perfectly
(📣FIIIIIRST!!. 😃).
This was so great. Thanks for your time, James. Between videos like this and Lee Sklar's UA-cam posts it's no wonder I'm not getting anything done during lockdown!
Your music is very dear to me. It has accompanied me since my teens. THANK YOU, James.
JT has my heart.
I never realised he'd had surgery - whose heart have u gotten???...
Thank You for these...your make me laugh and you show you are like all of us. Thank You!
James Taylor is amazing. Just listening to him is great. I really hope I can see James with Jackson Browne next year. 🙏🏽
My first concert was James Taylor at the University of Delaware in 1981 - we had a chemistry test the next day in high school! It was worth it!!
Love his quick answers to some good easy questions. Down to earth, still!
Thank you James for years of wonderful music.
This is fun.
This is great! James is so reserved in concert settings, so it’s great to hear more about the man behind the music n
I thought most of the questions asked of Mr. Taylor were very good. Nice job.
The revelation that James Taylor has seen "Spinal Tap" was hilarious to me! And the story of his tattoo was new! Thank you!
Ha! "A piano", said with a completely straight face. That's classic - thanks James!
Andrea segovia as a first concert was a total surprise. But both musical legends!!
I have something in common with him. When I was a little boy I helped my church build chairs and in high school I fell in love with carpentoring(?) even more.
I remember going into a record shop in Houston to buy Sweet Baby James when it first came out. Looking at James now makes me realize just how old I've gotten. Never die young, right James?
I love hearing about your life James Taylor. Your UA-cam videos are such a wonderful bright spot during this unprecedented time in history. This video is particularly enjoyable. I don’t know about other people but I have listened to “American Standards” so many times it’s crazy. Omg! You have a tattoo! I would have never guessed!
James you have been the man of my dreams for my entire life...since 1968. I loved learning more about you! We would be great together.
I love i-t the man who has been able to find any time. .to help us all. In.trouble times GOD BLESS The walking Man RM
What a precious soul.
Now that was hysterical!.. Maybe the best interview with James...Ever! - Now all that's left is an "authorized" biography. Something to think about. We're all waiting.. PS - The Section are also at home, bored, waiting for a "Zoom" reunion. No pressure..
Really enjoy this. I would love to see another video like this where you talk about different things.
We All Love Exactly Who u Are James! Your brother story hear really touched me🙏
My first concert ever in 74 or 75 at IU Assembly Hall in Bloomington IN. You've been my favorite artist ever since James !
I love how you are so genuine, kind hearted, soft spoken, funny, just love your style and always have. God bless you for the positive impact you've had and still do in my life. I love working with wood as well ! Was planning to see you in Louisville KY before the pandemic canceled all concerts... hope to see you again !
great advice. thank you James. you are a treasure. much love to you. I like "agitate yourself clean".
Classic! Exactly the kind of questions I'd ask if given the opportunity. Although I'd have to also ask to be able to perform a song with him as my number one question!!
Thank you James ❤
What a great video, so enjoyed hearing your answers James.
What a gift a collaboration between James and Francis would be-I can't wait :-)
Glad I'm not the only one who got a thrill from that one!

Love this man and his music.
Uncle James...that was gold!
Great questions and quite entertaining in our sequestered world!
I must have had an interstice in my head to think I could learn anything from watching this video! Enjoyed it. Thanks!
Great way to interview someone so familiar already! I learned a lot. 👏
Its Great to know more about James the taking a bath story so funny I remember when 3 Sisters and I took baths in a #2 tub just loved that story ✌❤
I love him. It’s that simple.
I was in Guys and Dolls in high school. It was my favorite! Also Bye, Bye Birdie.
love anything he does says and sings!!!! Simples
James saved my last so many times. thank YOU ....
This was fun!
Continued good health to you
Thanks for this. Interesting perspectives.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks! I wish I had the instrumental tracks heard in the video. American Standard: The Instrumentals
You were my first concert -- Boston Garden, Carole King was the opening act -- I was a teenager, Sweet Baby James was one of the true foundations of a chaotic life -- lived in the Berkshires for several years myself and never drove into them on the Pike without hearing that line . . . thank you thank you :)
Love that story about the landry detergent!
that was fun!!
interstices... very funny James I just watch the video that you gave when you were in your early 60s and you were talking about using the Beatles studio, if the times were they were not and there was the word...interstices!!
Regards from Guayaquil Ecuador
Great. Always interesting.
I used to tell my high school students that my fantasy job would be to be a back up singer for James Taylor.
What a hoot! Great fun!
Wonderful interview!
Brilliant 😁😁♥️
Love ya James!
I love this man like he is close family. I wish I could meet him. One of my dreams is to meet him.
THAT was fun! Thanks!
What a great guy !!!
I’d like to see that tattoo or tell us what the the symbol is.. I learned a lot of new things about James. This was very revealing.. Good questions and answers!
Here's JT's son Ben showing off his versions: ua-cam.com/video/fXTtPqyRl2U/v-deo.html
Am I the only guy thrilled that this interview is #captioned? Thanks, James T!
We're slowly working our way back through past videos, too, and adding captions.
@@jamestaylor Mahalo!!!!! I sincerely appreciate it. I really look forward to watching and enjoying the music, lyrics, and dialogue of the videos.
Hey James! I’ve listened to you forever. You are my favorite...and as you can see, I’m the Winslow Boy! My favorite lyric of yours which I’m desperate to know how you came up with... “drifting through time and space on the face of a little blue ball falling around the sun”
You are a genius!
I love this! Thank you
I hope Francis is watching ! He'd be very glad to hear that !
J'espere que Francis te regarde ! Il sera ravi d'apprendre ça !
: )
I can remember him on Carson...he would Crack old Johnny up...
OMG I share something with JamesTaylor. Shame it's just our first cars. Still, it took me on my first road trip- all over the UK and Sweet Baby James was the first album I ever bought too.
That's a lot of firsts to have with JT😀
"Agitating in the shower!" 🌝 That was funny! Smart Mom 👩 😄
God Bless you James
bravi!
Great! Thanks James!!!
I've got 10 Children. I know....!
When Avi Kaplan was asked the duet question on his Fantasy Flash Cards, he said you.
O,g love it
Francis Cabrel & JT, what a blend! It would be nice to have you both doing translated covers of each other
I've long felt that way! In fact Francis did record a French version of 'Millworker' (called 'La Fabrique').
Hey James, you’ve been with me most of my life. For the good and particularly during the bad, giving me comfort. I would LOVE to have something you made! I’m sure you would have been a great woodworker. ( my grandfather’s name was Rufus. Your son is the only other person I’ve ever heard of with that name! Love it.)
