Hey Matt! Just stumbled on your video by accident and I just want to let you know you're doing a great job on youtube. Please don't stop posting, your video has really motivated me to keep studying. I'm currently in 4th year of med school in Italy and I'm planning on moving to the UK after I graduate, so having an insight of what it really is like to be a Junior Doctor helps me to keep on track with my studies. Thanks for the video!
Hey Leo thanks so much for your message and for reaching out as well 😊 super glad you enjoyed these videos and I'll definitely keep trying to make content that people can enjoy to get an idea of life as a doctor in the UK!
Such as genuine video! Love the first person perspective! Thanks for sharing with us your incredible journey, and glad you're enjoying your time in central London :)
Thank you for showing us what the life is like as a doctor over there! Especially for the doctors in other countries to know the differences between :D Great work!!!! Can't wait to see more

hi, Matthew , enjoy watching your video, it brings me back to my days 40 years ago, I was working at St. Thomas' Renal Unit and Guallen Ward . Enjoy your work at St. Thomas' . it is an excellent prestige teaching Hospital in London , with very professional , friendly and caring staff
What a lovely video Dr... It's great to hear that Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist play a vital role in discharge planning as you have mentioned. You certainly a very good MDT player. Thanks Ajit OT
They absolutely do Ajit, and in so many cases they play a much more important role than that of a doctor in terms of making sure the patient can get home safely and cope well at home!
Hi Matt, fantastic video. Really interesting. Glad I came across your channel. Have subscribed. I’ve so much respect for what you do and all the other hardworking NHS staff. I owe my life to you guys. I’m having my 5th open-heart surgery at a London hospital in 2 weeks time. My niece is a medical student and her husband a junior doctor. I would so love to have been a doctor/surgeon. It’s so so interesting. Lots of respect for you 👍

Amazing video .. good insight into what life as a doctor involves .. slightly different than working in general practice where I am currently working ..
Hey Matthew! Thank you for sharing us about your days and it really makes me want to work in UK! I am 4th year med student studying in europe and trying to move to UK after graduate as an IMG. I bet that getting a job in London area would be tough in junior doctor. How hard is it? Hi Matt! I suppose the hospital you are working at is St Thomas'.. I was there back in February 2018 for my PACES exams. I am from tropical Malaysia. The "Beast from the East" cold chill from Siberia made London covered with snow at that time. What a sight! I am doing my speciality training in Geriatric Medicine now :-). All the best to you...Cheers!
It's an amazing hospital and city! Thanks for sharing your experiences, looks like I'll have PACES to look forward to... All the best with your training in Malaysia and future endeavors, and hope to stay in touch 😊

Well…. I’m a junior doctor in Malaysia. Need to be in the hospital at 5 in the morning, 3 ward rounds a day, No break time, 30-40 patients per ward under your care and you’re considered lucky if you’re able to get out of the hospital at 5pm…. Most of the time, your shift will end between 9 pm - 11pm 😅. Cheers
Thank you Muna! Haha I'm just lucky I work in such an amazing place, plus medicine could do with some positivity ☺️ I'm a complete amateur when it comes to plants but I've actually been hoping to get a bit more greenery in my house... Any tips or ideas would be very much appreciated!!

In your Id Card Lanyard Mentioned as Fy2 , means Foundation year 2 … when we get MRCP can we go directly to ST3 or ST4 level without doing Foundation as plab qualified doctors doing … please clear it for us ….
It has become easier due to some of the restrictions being lifted with regards to visa sponsorship (assuming you don’t have right to work in the uk). All the information you need are on the UKFPO website. The registration for this year has closed, however you can target when it’ll open in 2021 (usually between June-September).
Hey there, glad you enjoyed the video! As @kole ivy mentioned the visa limitations and application process have been lifted slightly to make it a bit easier. It's entirely doable - most people finish the PLAB before coming over and don't have any problems joining a programme!
Do we need home country medical licence for plab. I m studying medicine in China 🇨🇳 so after getting degree can i directly give plab without giving home country licence exam
Hi I’m really hoping you could reply to my comment as it would help immensely with a decision I have to make regarding preferencing. Is there a special London allowance for foundation programme doctors, or is that option only present for service jobs? I have been accepted into the FY2 standalone and have received very high marks on my SJT but I’m not sure whether I should rank posts in that area as I understand that cost of living is quite high.
Hi Matt, great video. Would you say there is a lot of opportunity for doctors to work flexible rotas? I'm torn between trying to become a doctor or a dentist. I do like the 4 day work week which seems to be becoming the norm for dentists. Due to my age, it would be a big commitment and I probably wouldn't be qualified until late 30s so I'd probably also prefer the role which the better pay started sooner as I believe with Drs there's a few foundation years until you reach the good pay, is it less years to reach the higher pay grades in dentistry do you know? Much love.
I’m currently doing my a levels but hesitant If I should do medicine cus I heard that there are night shifts and 11 hours a day with one day off a week until you become a senior doctor/ normal doctor not junior
Hey Bro Matthew Lee, it's my final year of MBBS course from the university of China(Ningxia Medical University).I'm from Bangladesh.I'm interested to settle my life in UK like you. What's the easiest and the most effective way now for me to be there in London as a general physician (PG is also ok)? Need I apply for PLAB 1 or any other good options? please reply as you're my neighbour😂( China-Hong Kong)!
how much do u make a month including on calls and everything and how much you save after all expenditure in food and stay and all.? . i am looking for doing PLAB.. so that'd be helpful.. And also how hectic or tired do you feel after your duty each day?
Hey man, it's been a while since you uploaded this video but I hope you could answer and help me I'm a doctor planning to go to UK (London I hope) for the foundation program and residency in psychiatry, but I also want to pursue my music career dream, and study music formally. Is it possible to study another career during the foundation years or residency?
This is such a gud vlog. ❤️ From russia. Can you make a video for img students ,how much do you get paid for extra hours and and tax deductions on your salary. Rent, and all the other expenses
Thank you for your kind words Dipendra 😊 Yes that's a great idea I'll look to make a video about how much I was paid in FY1 vs. FY2 and further in the near future if that will be helpful!
hey Matthew, what a levels did you do? this job looks really appealing to me but i'm only doing a level chemistry, maths and computer science. do you think it's still feasible?
Hi there! I did 4 A levels: chemistry, biology, computing and maths, but you can absolutely get in with the 3 that you are taking! The main one they are particularly concerned with is chemistry and you tick that box 😊 definitely go for it if you're interested in medical school, it's a great career!
Hey bro, i am subscribing your channel coz you are a doctor and am hitting the like button coz you are a doctor in London. Congragualtions! Also, I am a medical aspirant preparing to get in a medical school UG course. Any advices for me, from your side would be really appreciated.
Hey Mitali, thank you and it's so great to have you in the community! I hope that my videos will be able to give you an idea of what to expect for a career in medicine, and perhaps some useful revision tips. The journey in medicine is a long and tough one but indeed worth it, congratulations on deciding to pursue this career 👍 Aside from the necessities like obtaining grades and extracurriculars, I would advise trying to seek out some work experience such as working in hospitals or local healthcare departments. In preparation for your interview, I would advise researching the medical curriculum, expectations and medical ethics as this can impress your examiners. I hope these brief tips help and hope to stay in touch 😊
@@mattbkleeThankyou soooooo much to have taking out time to reply, i am completely aware of how busy you might be but you still took out time to reply, this means a lot to me. Thanks Summer! Our work schedule depends on which rotation we're on but it's generally around 40-50 hours a week and most of us work 1 in 3 to 1 in 5 weekends. While I was on ITU I was working every other weekend. Generally junior doctors are more protected work time-wise in the NHS 😊
Ur videos are the only reason I get up in the morning, keep it up

Hey man, it's been a while since you uploaded this video but I hope you could answer and help me
I'm a doctor planning to go to UK (London I hope) for the foundation program and residency in psychiatry, but I also want to pursue my music career dream, and study music formally. Is it possible to study another career during the foundation years or residency?
Life is good there as a doctor. Is it the same across the board?
Is there any plastic surgeon by name Brian Williams at royale London hospital?
🌹
😍😍
This is such a gud vlog. ❤️ From russia. Can you make a video for img students ,how much do you get paid for extra hours and and tax deductions on your salary. Rent, and all the other expenses
Thank you for your kind words Dipendra 😊 Yes that's a great idea I'll look to make a video about how much I was paid in FY1 vs. FY2 and further in the near future if that will be helpful!
So who do you live with Doctor Mathew?
hey Matthew, what a levels did you do? this job looks really appealing to me but i'm only doing a level chemistry, maths and computer science. do you think it's still feasible?
Hi there! I did 4 A levels: chemistry, biology, computing and maths, but you can absolutely get in with the 3 that you are taking! The main one they are particularly concerned with is chemistry and you tick that box 😊 definitely go for it if you're interested in medical school, it's a great career!
What’s the name of this hospital if you do not mind?
Hey bro, i am subscribing your channel coz you are a doctor and am hitting the like button coz you are a doctor in London. Congragualtions!
Also,
I am a medical aspirant preparing to get in a medical school UG course.
The tips you gave are of a great help. Big Thankyou again.
i am obliged to have found your channel.
All the Best and Stay Blessed!
Nice video. Where do you work?
Whih hospital do you work in?
great video! around how many hours do you work a week? and do you work weekends?
Thanks Summer! Our work schedule depends on which rotation we're on but it's generally around 40-50 hours a week and most of us work 1 in 3 to 1 in 5 weekends. While I was on ITU I was working every other weekend. Generally junior doctors are more protected work time-wise in the NHS 😊
Would you ever quit your job to do UA-cam full time ?
7:00 is he Indian ??😂💕 btw I'm also a medical student and I hope I get a life like you one day
