You know Bobby is in the groove when he does the two step backwards followed by the knee flying up. I remember that was something my friends and I always watched for. You were in for an especially good show if you saw it early. It was like a tell
I didn't find out until after my Dad passed away in 98' or no, let's just say I didn't realize just how fortunate I was @ the time to have such cool parents who would pass their Love for Grateful Dead onto me. In doing so & exposing me to one of the most talented & loved group of musicians on the planet it enabled me to grow up loving what I really liked & not just clinging onto the norm's of Top 40 Radio. (Boring) My parent's encouraged me & my sister to always chase after our dreams & that it was okay to think outside of the box. That being different doesn't mean you're wrong or right, only different & there's certainly nothing wrong w/ that. They made it okay for me to enjoy thing's that were viewed by some as being taboo, for lack of a better word. Luckily for me I was able to see some show's w/ my Dad back in the early-mid 80's & I will always cherish those times & great memories. I know in my heart that if it were not for them being so open minded, I probably wouldn't have ever hopped on the Bus & woulda never gotten to see firsthand what this Band & it's huge following was truly all about & for that I'm eternally grateful & appreciative. Thanks Mom & Dad, you guy's Rock ! 👣 ***Also a huge Thank You to Justin K. & of course, Lolo... Scott⁷¹⁴🍋's
Love hearing that! Exactly as i feel about my experiences. I was born in 1990 but as a toddler i got to see Jerry a handful of times. At this point in life i have The ability to enter that sacred " flow state" with my instrument and i love it deeply.
For those of you giving the last generation of tour heads crap. Yes we were lucky to see Jerry. At least we were smart enough to listen to the ones, that came before us.
I occasionally watch this now & then & it never fails to make me feel better. The memories & good vibes it brings back along with getting a peek behind the curtain so to speak always brings a smile. I miss those that have left us & miss those who are still with us. Thanks Justin for the memories

I was at the 88 Laguna Seca run. AWESOME WEEKEND! Very kool to see the behind the scenes footage. I believe the Dylan footage towards the end is from the L.A. FORUM shows Feb. 89.
Couple of memories from this era. Broke down on Peachtree in rush hour. Hampton passed out in a concrete planter Mom gets a “crazy fingers” autograph from Jerry at the Holiday Inn. Shows were the best times of my life
My last shows were in June of 88 Alpine Valley Wisconsin. Man we're they smoking. Then the wife gave us two children one in August 89 then July of 90 she saw them in Chicago in 95 I think I bought her two tickets so her and her girl friend could see them. Then Jerry passed. It just didn't seem the same after that. Peace and love. Covid go away.

not trying to be a downer but just shareing my observations.and maybe the dark and hurt is my own short commings, but i went to my first show 86 irvine meaows i was a lost 16 yearold in a lot of pain not underdtsnding society or how to ne in it alone not good with girls.ect.
but from the first hour i was there.
i had this feeling come over me,the parking lot fead scean i had never imageined such a thing.and as i walked i discovered more and more it was the dights ues but also the smell snd the way people treated eachother.i felt a famillier feeling.liked i know this tho i never had seen or heard any of it,nor had anyone ever daid snything to me sbout a dead dhow.i eas completely nee but it felt like home famillier somehow.
then i went into the show and not sure how to say it, the music touched me so down deeply that i was fundamentally changer.it threw my world into a type of confusion.all i onew is that i never wanted it to stop.for yhe next 7 years i didnt listen to any other band besides the fead.and i found that my perspective eas fuked because if all you got is the grateful dead then you aint got nothing.i was missing deapth and root inmyself the years since have been a mix of axillerstion and pain.but now its been many years since ive been around anyone eho gets it,i been alone so long.i miss those dayd so bad.i long for friends who at least liked the music like i do...its all i have left are those memorys and the music.at least the music is as britht snd meaningfull as it ever was so. am ialooser or a winner.im not sure how to look at my life so far all i know is sometimes i cant help mysekf and just break down and cry and yet still i look back and for a brief moment can be back there rembering a dituation or a piec of a show or something someone said to me and it brings a smile.i just wish i could hold it longer what i wish even more is i eish i had radically altered my life and moved to be around these folks maybe i would have love long friend and wouldn't be so lonely or all alone and maybr i woiulfnt hve married a womsn eho cant hear the music. one thing that's never been on doubtis the music and my natural ability to hear it.
i thank god that i van still hear it,its the only constant in my life.im sorry to snyone eho reads this snd it brought them down.my only intention was to say that faced with the exprrence ive had.vs onw without the dead in it i would choose to wslk thid rosd agine and sgain sgain..
once in a while you get shown the light
god i need some now please..
