      Andrew Helton I was at the May 27 2009 game. Zambrano got booted. I was walking down from cheap seats and kept hearing Cheers. It was cold as Alska that day and why we left early. Crowd was down to 70%. By the time I made it out front gate the cubs came back in the 9th and won...the noise was awesome. My son's first cubs game.

      Snow is nothing. I first went to Wrigley in 1959. I've endured a lifetime of misery. My parents were born in 1912 and 1914, and each of them passed away -- my mother at 97 -- without having seen the Cubs win a World Series. You either love this poetic game, or you don't.
      You either love baseball or you love, at least, whatever the hell it was the Cubs were often playing.

"It's the bottom of the 9th, Cubs are down 3 - 0, bases are loaded for (plug your name in there), he's got 2 strikes against him and there are two outs, The crowd looks on in anticipation, here comes the pitch...OH MY GOD HE'S DONE IT!!!!! A GRAND SLAM!!!! HOLY COW!!! CUBS WIN!!! CUBS WIN!!!! (plug your name in) has just hit a grand slam to win the World Series for the Cubbies! Truly every kids fantasy, so happy for Bote and the Cubs - Great come from behind victory.

      Whats readiculus is that Jason Heyward did the exact same thing. Bases loaded, 2 strikes, 2 outs, grandslam, way over 400ft, just as many fans in the croud. But since it was only a 2 run deficit instead of 3 run deficit. Its talked about a lot less. But the way I see it, is even though the cubs have chooked every season after there world sieres. Those two walk offs and the many other walk offs the Cubs had in that season is a record that will never be broken. And history that is so isain the fact that it happened just goes over everybody heads.

    • @LucasDidier22
      @LucasDidier22 4 роки тому

      @@danielfinley2409 if I'm remembering the same HR as you are, I believe Heyward's was a 3-run homer, not a Grand Slam. There could be another one that I'm forgetting though.

    Before tonight, just 28 players in Major League history have connected for an "ultimate grand slam" -- a grand slam coming with that player's team down by three runs for the final at-bat.
    Tonight, David Bote joins that list as the 29th player.

    This game and the game the day before were my first games at Wrigley Field, and holy cow what a night I’ll never forget. I can’t believe the history that I witnessed here, the biggest play you can imagine in the game of baseball, and by a rookie pinch hitter to boot. I didn’t see any David Bote jerseys for sale in the Cubs store before the game, but I bet tomorrow they won’t be able to stock enough to keep on the racks. The few people who decided to leave early will tell lies for the rest of their lives about when they saw this game.

    Bote one of the Next Young soon to be Superstars and thank God for Daniel Murphy being brought in to The Cubs...it will be Great to see him hit for the cubs instead of killing the cubs....2019 should be a Superstar TEAM I say that with CAPITAL LETTERS for the Chicago Cubs and we definitely feel like World Series Contenders again in 2018....they will become A DYNASTY, like the Pittsburgh steelers and Dallas Cowboys of the 80s and like the Chicago Bulls of the 90s.

    On the last strike, the Nats lose on one swing of the bat...😂😂😂😂...I can bake at least a dozen pizzas on Max Scherzer's head. All that scoreless work wasted in 2/3 of an inning. He must be pissed.

    • @drasticbread249
      @drasticbread249 6 років тому +2

      Yeah he got taken out when it was still 1-0 and his pitch count was past 100, so he still would have likely only pitched the 8th if they kept him in.

    • @johnathanpatrick6118
      @johnathanpatrick6118 6 років тому +2

      Seann Savage Ditto. DeGrom might have the same number of wins Scherzer does if not for his fellow Mets stinking it up offensively and in the bullpen. I really wish he'd joined a contender instead of being 'jailed' with the Mets.

    "...You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all." - Baseball Hall of Famer Earl Weaver
