I have a friend who lives over a mile from Wrigley. She said that she could hear the roar of the crowd INSIDE of her house when he hit that Grand Slam. It would have been awesome to be there!
Embarrassed to say that I gave up after watching that kid pitch the eighth, and I was walking my dog at Addison and Racine when Heyward hit that. It was like being in the stadium.
I was at this game and it was sad because they gave up the lead in the 9th. I don't think anyone believe he would hit it out, that's for sure. But it was loud as ever when he did hit it.
So glad to see Heyward hit that walk-off. Was watching the NBA Finals and had the gamecast on my computer. Heard the roar of the crowd from my living room and said to myself "Heyward hit a mfing walk-off grandslam!" This dude has so much ability but he has changed his swing more times than Cal Ripkin, Jr. Every at-bat he should be thinking of the swing that he had against Zambrano in his MLB debut. Pitchers are going to try to slider him to death. Lay off the breaking stuff and look for a nice juicy fastball to DESTROY! #FLYtheW
ever since he got hit in the face by that fastball hes been struggling to get back to his normal ways but ya it is freaken awesome for him to hit that walk off i think he is working really hard to overcome that traumatic injury in the past and become the best Jason Heyward he can be!
Somehow, I always smile when the hero of the game gets a gatorade blast from his teammates, whether it's a walk-off, perfect game, or anything along those lines. I hope I'm not the only one!
Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, 2 strikes, bases loaded. The scenario every kid dreams of in their backyard. Heyward steps up to plate and THIS BALL IS GONE! CUBS WIN!!!!!!!!! #FlyTheW
A Braves fan but absolutely love this guy since he put on a uniform. Sad to see him in another jersey but good to see that he’s showing his talents for a great team.
Whenever I need a pick-me-up after a particularly brutal Cubs' loss (thankfully rare these days), I go back and watch Jason Heyward's majestic walkoff!! Still awesome!!
cauchamar what do you mean? His offense has always been inconsistent. His average and RBI numbers can be compared, while on the Cubs, with his time with the cards and braves. His stolen base numbers have dropped along with his strikeouts. His walk percentage has more or less stayed the same but his strike out percentage has decreased. His defense is the reason why the Cubs signed heyward. His two gold gloves in his first two seasons with the Cubs speaks for itself
Christopher L you can’t pay big money for a good fielding non-hitter from a power position. He’s the single most overpaid RF in the history of the MLB. A wasted bat.
Steven Juris nope. Josh Hamilton when he signed with the angels, Milton Bradley with Cubs, and probably others. That’s an asinine comment in it of itself by ignoring the fact of the gold gloves even with the gaps of offensive production
cauchamar I sure as hell ain’t being ignorant to the reality of heyward’s offensive statistics but no doubt his numbers have slumped since being with the Cubs. Seems like he’s “turning a corner” this season, to me
I wasn't at the 2016 playoff games, but this was the loudest I've ever heard Wrigley in person. What's crazy is that a bunch of people left when we were down 5-3 going into the bottom of 9. Still, immediately when he hit it, the stands felt like they were gonna fall apart, lol
The normally reliable bullpen gives up 5 (technically 3) runs on home runs. The normally unreliable against LHP Heyward hits a 2 out 2 strike walk off grand slam against a lefty power pitcher. Because baseball is silly and random sometimes.
EXACTLY- and half the fair weather Cubs “fans” start yelling “Fire Maddon” anytime something like that happens. The last time I looked, Joe Maddon didn’t throw a single pitch or swing the bat during a game. Even with his team being top 5 in both pitching and hitting he gets blamed for every loss.
Andre Jg Exactly right, Andre. And that's why baseball is like life: it's silly and random. And exacting and giddy. Sometimes -- when played right -- it even works out. There's just no fuckin' guarantee.
Bullpen stats for the Cubs out of 30 teams: - Lowest against batting average - 10th best strikeouts - 3rd least in runs - 3rd least in earned runs - Tied with dodgers and pirates with most shutouts - T-11th most saves with: Texas, dodgers, and Arizona - 4th least losses - 9th most wins
I remember watching this on vacation in Colorado and our hotel neighbors were screaming their heads off along with us after watching it on our phones 😄😄🙏🙏
I was there and even though some people started leaving after Morrow gave up the 2 HR there were still a TON of fans who stuck around to witness this moment. The atmosphere was electric; almost like a playoff game. What a night for J-Hey and Cubs fans!
I remember watching this game. I’m an Aussie and baseball isn’t very popular here, so I never really had a team. I liked the Cubs along with a few others, but didn’t root for anyone specific. I was watching this game and when Heyward was on 2 strikes, I remember saying to the baseball gods that if we win this game, I’ll be a Cubs fan for life. Next thing you know, the ball clears the fence and I’ve been a Cubs fan above all else since that day.
Go Cubs go! But that one instance where the ball trickled by the catcher then he committed the error makes me wonder why neither MLB Tonight nor quick pitch has yet to do their own version of C’mon Man!
Will never forget coming downstairs to see my dad watching this game and when Heyward came up, I had this strange feeling that it was gonna be a walk-off win for the Cubs. I'm not even joking.
I was at this game and will never forget it. I was astounded at how many people left early. There were so many near us that left in the 8th inning or top of the 9th.
I stopped once Morrow blew it but when I checked to see who won later I saw it was 2 outs bases loaded then I came down to watch and saw the whole thing, it was so suspenseful
I had my doubts about Jason Heyward but this year he has seemed to turn it around if we can get production out of Hayward at the plate I think that our offense is pretty much going to be unstoppable and even when Jason Heyward was struggling at least he made up for it on defense he's a great outfielder a gold Glover and he was just in a slump for a couple years so hopefully he's pulled himself out of it I wish you the best of luck j-hay
The definition of not doing your job: Hes batting 139 vs Lefties & overall just having another bad year, all you need there is a slider a little of the plate & he strikes out. BTW,,, I'm a Cubs fan so all this works out for me in the end.. Thanks Philadelphia. 😁
I have a friend who lives over a mile from Wrigley. She said that she could hear the roar of the crowd INSIDE of her house when he hit that Grand Slam. It would have been awesome to be there!
Jack Langefeld I was there
Wow, that is pretty cool.
True
Embarrassed to say that I gave up after watching that kid pitch the eighth, and I was walking my dog at Addison and Racine when Heyward hit that. It was like being in the stadium.
I wa there as well, my first Cubs game and a grand slam, I still have the ticket to that game.
So proud that many of the Cub fans stuck around even though they were down by 2. Love the warning Heyward gave her, "Watch out."
I was at this game and it was sad because they gave up the lead in the 9th. I don't think anyone believe he would hit it out, that's for sure. But it was loud as ever when he did hit it.

Way to go Jason! that was so sweet!
My first time at Wrigley and this happened. OMG. What a night.
Somehow, I always smile when the hero of the game gets a gatorade blast from his teammates, whether it's a walk-off, perfect game, or anything along those lines. I hope I'm not the only one!
HOLY COW!!!!!! GO CUBS!

man I just got emotional looking at this he been through a lot with his offensive so to see this is awesome get em J
LMAO YOU GOT EMOTIONAL, FROM SOMEONE HITTING A WALKOFF😂😂😂 YOUR A LOSER
Heyward’s offensive stats have been progressively going up ever since he joined the Cubs in 2016. He is definitely putting in the work. Good for him
cauchamar what do you mean? His offense has always been inconsistent. His average and RBI numbers can be compared, while on the Cubs, with his time with the cards and braves. His stolen base numbers have dropped along with his strikeouts. His walk percentage has more or less stayed the same but his strike out percentage has decreased.

yankees fan but still would have loved to be at the stadium jesus good lord
it's really a must visit for any baseball fan.
We are the best fans baby!
Thomas Bae I was and it was amazing!
It was incredible. I will NEVER forget it!
Cubs got great fans man. Yankee empire we would of just said screw...it and win the next one.

The old saying stays true. That’s baseball
Andre Jg such is life 😊
Andre Jg
Heyward has been fantastic against high velocity lefties this season, and it isn’t luck, it’s skill 😐
Hey, Hey, Heyward!!!!! #GOCUBSGO
god what a man
I remember listening to this inning on my way home that night. Ended up sitting in the car as Heyward batted to hear how it turned out.
This gives me the chills EVERY time. Go CUBS!!
Thanks for everything, Jason. Best of luck to you at your next stop
CIshek blew this game for Quintana. Morrow not effective. J- Hey saves the day ,
Very solid all season. The Cubs’ bullpen is the third best in MLB, in relation to ERA. They’re behind the brewers’ and d-backs’ bullpen
Bullpen stats for the Cubs out of 30 teams:
- Lowest against batting average
- 10th best strikeouts
- 3rd least in runs
- 3rd least in earned runs
- Tied with dodgers and pirates with most shutouts
- T-11th most saves with: Texas, dodgers, and Arizona
- 4th least losses
- 9th most wins
The trouble spot with the bullpen is their walks. 4th most given up behind: Miami, Atlanta, and cincy
no maddon blew it by pulling a guy tossing a shutout after an infield hit
John Postma The bullpen has been the backbone of the staff. 34 yr old Jon Lester is reliving his youth 6-2 2.44.
I was there. Lovely moment. I would remember this for my whole life.
I remember watching this on vacation in Colorado and our hotel neighbors were screaming their heads off along with us after watching it on our phones 😄😄🙏🙏

THIS one's just as good as Bote's GS!
I was there for the giveaway but the grand slam was the icing on the cake
I was there and even though some people started leaving after Morrow gave up the 2 HR there were still a TON of fans who stuck around to witness this moment. The atmosphere was electric; almost like a playoff game. What a night for J-Hey and Cubs fans!
That was a good comeback good job Hayward
The best baseball game that I will probably ever attend
About 9 years ago Alfonso Soriano hit a walk-off grandslam on July 29, 2009!
GO CUBS GO
That was amazing. I was in the CF Bleachers and the electricity was off the charts!
I remember watching this game. I’m an Aussie and baseball isn’t very popular here, so I never really had a team. I liked the Cubs along with a few others, but didn’t root for anyone specific. LETS GO CUBS
J hay baby the last legend on the Cubs 2016 this man is a legend
Go Cubs go! But that one instance where the ball trickled by the catcher then he committed the error makes me wonder why neither MLB Tonight nor quick pitch has yet to do their own version of C’mon Man!

The Phillies received the mega clap
Go Cubs go

Will never forget coming downstairs to see my dad watching this game and when Heyward came up, I had this strange feeling that it was gonna be a walk-off win for the Cubs. I'm not even joking.
Skip to 17:24 for home run
Go cubs go
Thx for the 20 draft kings points :)
I was at this game and will never forget it. I was astounded at how many people left early. There were so many near us that left in the 8th inning or top of the 9th.
As a Braves fan, we seen many a homerun hit by Heyward, this one was one of the hardest HR's I think he ever hit
I was at this game! What a finish! I’ll never forget it!
I stopped watching at the end of the 6th. Really wish I kept watching now.
Don't feel bad. I was there in person and a bunch of people left after we went down 5-3

Anyone notice that the cubs signed heyward 2 years ago and finally!!! He’s playing proper Major League Baseball!!!
Wow! Holy Cow!!! Harry would've creamed himself over this one! So awesome!!! Go Cubs go!!!!!
The definition of not doing your job: Hes batting 139 vs Lefties & overall just having another bad year, all you need there is a slider a little of the plate & he strikes out. BTW,,, I'm a Cubs fan so all this works out for me in the end.. Thanks Philadelphia. 😁
