Cubs developed the championship heart in that 2016 run to the title and they still have it. It is something that can't be taught and once you have it you never lose it. Some teams never develop it (like the Nationals).

The Nationals figured it out in the 8th inning of that Wildcard game against the Brewers and the rest is history. All of a sudden the least-clutch postseason team of this era became the most clutch. Crazy how it works once a team figures it out.
In the game promoted at 3:26, David Bote hit a walk off grand slam when down by 3 runs.

When Anthony Rizzo belted a walk-off game winning home run, we were screaming and hugging like long-lost brothers. What made the moment sweeter was about an hour earlier I wanted to go home after the fifth inning and beat the traffic since the Cubbies were down big. Rabbi Ari said, "Imam, have faith! The Cubbies are going to win this game!"

That was some terrible pitching. The pitcher even had the ump on his side with some really terrible strike calls. 0-2 fastball right down the middle gets destroyed then he decides to throw rizzo some hanging low sliders to an uppercut swing? If that catcher was calling the pitches, he needs to be fired.

Some umps are so bad they can't remember the plate is the strike zone and it doesn't move when the batter stands as close as Rizzo does.
Ball 4 to Zobrist too though. Not as bad, it's right on the line but the robot umps would have called it a strike.

the absolute opposite of funny
When Rizzo followed the ball all of the way to the catcher's mitt on the first pitch, he let us know that he was in the zone. That 0-1 blast was hit so hard that it's difficult to even see the ball leave the bat from the main angle. He got all of it, just incredible.
All of this happened because Ben Zobrist had great patience and earned that lead off walk

Ben Zobrist is one of the most underrated players in MLB history. Part of multiple championship teams, always in the clutch and contributes in ways invaluable to whatever team he plays for. True unsung hero of the game.

Jhonathan Cosme I think both of them are pretty bad. I was hoping the Cubs would buy a great pitcher, (relief or starting) and just pay the fine for going over the salary cap. I also think Yu Darvish needs to get his head on straight and pitch some great games or the Cubs management needs to find away to get rid of him. What a waste of money he is so far. 👎

Best part is Eddie Butler, the winning pitcher, who you can briefly see in the celebration pileup, was traded away within about an hour of this game ending. Great way for him to remember his time in the Cubs' organization
