I actually have compassion for this young man. Clearly he is aware of the situation, and just as clearly, he is not capable of dealing with it at the moment. I think it's basically a type of mental illness. The poor guy needs help honestly.
As a fellow person who struggles with their weight, I have a lot of empathy for Zion. I don't get off on mocking him. Wishing Zion Williams good health and a great career.
Stop praising lazy people who think they can coast by without working hard, that's what you Americans love doing, handing out participation medals. He has no work ethic.
many people struggle with weight. food addiction is REAL. But pro athletes get big contracts and endorsement deals b/c of their physical performance and physique. Lebron is the oldest guy in NBA. He out hustled Zion and took over the game.
I feel the same as you man, I hope he can figure it out cause with the little we’ve seen he could be one of the greats. He should be entertaining his Giannis MVP season soon and I hope he’s not out of the league by 2027. I think something that plays a factor in this is that everyone in the media has something to say about him and we know the media especially sport media has an agenda, so for Zion I hope someone in his personal life can say to him lock In because you’re wasting your opportunities.
Good thing Shaq has an opinion, he was the only other guy who was as good, but also as undisciplined as Zion. And, let's be honest, as out of shape and as fat. Strange that he has his high horse with him on the one topic he's actually qualified to talk about, besides 'how do I get born with superior genes to specifically play Basketball?' We all remember Kobe's 'I'd have 4 more rings if he went to the gym...*.
Comparing shaq that won 3 finals mvp and a regular season mvp with a lazy fat slob that has only played in a third of the games that he was supposed to play lmao.
I actually consider Shaq to be the greatest raw talent ever in the NBA for that reason. When he arrived in the NBA he was lean and he was fast. I remember him charging down on a fast break and it was terrifying, like a super sized Giannis. Maybe he didn't have a euro step but Shaq was so big and athletic he could bump by anyone back then except I dunno, Olajuwon and David Robinson. The rules of the 90s encouraged bigs to bang so he decided to get stronger. And he was just so powerful, he liked it, and he had no motivation to stay slim because he was already winning championships fat. Also he wasn't just strong, his footwork in the post was actually really good. Yeah he could have won multiple rings more if he was more motivated, but there are nba players who were absolutely devoted to being the best they could be who didn't win a single ring, nevermind Shaq's multiple rings. He could've won more sure, but I don't think it would've made him any happier. It is what it is. Fat Shaq was better than 99% of NBA bigs who were supposedly in much better shape. There's no contesting that. And his bones must have been steel, because even as he got more injuries from being so big, he was still efficient and reliable into the playoffs. In contrast, never mind the rings. Fat Zion can't even stay on the court when he's supposed to be climbing into his prime. If Zion were playing well and staying available nobody would give af about his weight, like the only one who bitched about Shaq's weight was Kobe because Kobe was one of those hyper achievers who are ultra hungry.
@@v312ym34n_is_very_mean Yeah, he was, but remember Boston. Not the sight of an top athlete, and not the sign of a man qualified to look down on others with the exact same problem. And being ( one of ) the greatest raw talent(s) ever is something that could just as likely have been said about Zion five years back. I'm not in the slightest mocking Shaq's achievements or his beastliness in his first years. He was him!!! But he also never did it alone, and Zion has neither Wade nor Kobe to hold him accountable. All I'm saying is Shaq dismissing Zion this way feels like the 'recently-lost-60-pounds-guy' shouting around how disgusting it is to have a few more pounds on. Shaq can of course say what he wants, free country and he's actually earned the moral right to do so. Also, in media, they want the guys to say such things. I don't think he'd say such things to Zion's face when not on TV egged on by producers to deliver a take. It just feels somewhat...disingenious. But, just to be absolutely clear, Shaq was the biggest force of nature the league has ever seen and earned every accolade he's been given. He was like a Giannis today, but turned up to 15 out of 10. If you hadn't had the possibility to hack-a-shaq him ( aka today's game ), he would have scored 70 points every game, demoralizing grown men in the process. I'm sure former players still awake today, soaked in sweat, having had a nightmare of having to guard him again. As for us in the comments, it would do us well to remember that simply getting to the NBA, let alone be No1 pick, means Zion has already achieved more than we probably will in our entire lifetime. Same goes for all the guys playing there, not just the superstars.
@@TheGrandmaMoses that's disingenuous. Celtics Shaq was pretty much retired at that point. He kept in shape in his championship window. It was after his peak where he really started gaining weight.
I started watching Zion his last year in college. I said THEN he was too heavy and if he didn't change his lifestyle his career would be short and plagued with injuries. At the end of this season, I think his career is halfway over...
Seems like the dude is depressed and eating his emotions. He obviously is a nice guy overall and tries to put on a nice persona in recent interviews, but you can tell that he's distanced himself mentally from the game. Maybe that helps him cope with the fact he hasn't achieved all that he can and has not always put himself in a position to succeed. There is no way he has not heard how much of a bust he's become and I'm sure that plays a factor in wanting to just mentally shut it all down and collect a pay check. I hope he can have some sort of breakthrough and bounce back from this and have another chance at being a great player. Tough to see a dude waste away this much potential.
@@BlackSheepIntuitions Valid point. I think it's also easier to not care when you're already disappointing or not living up to the hype and have been paid anyway. It's like when a little kid is playing a game and clearly wants to win, but then he loses and so he acts like he never cared about winning to begin with. Zion definitely cared about NBA glory before getting drafted because his camp was all about the bright lights of new york and the prospect being a star there even though they only had like a 25% chance of landing him. Then he didn't want to be in new orleans and has had issues ever since. I'm not saying my assessment is 100% correct, only he really knows. I'm just giving my two cents about it from the outside looking in. I hope he turns it around.
This is a case study that nba franchises should be more careful giving max/super max contracts to young stars who haven’t won anything seriously and haven’t bought into winning basketball. People will argue they’ll leave and join another but honestly if another team is dumb enough to sign a player like Zion for max money they deserve to suffer for the next couple of years. I think less super max deals and more high contracts with bigger performance incentives so young players like Zion, Simmons, Poole will think twice before thinking they just need to play well for contracts then mess around once they got it.
I think it's a situation of he loved basketball was the number 1 pick made it to the big stage got his contract and realized it's not all sunshine. I think the actual workload, media etc is overwhelming him and he's just doing enough to slide by and have some financial security. I think he does love to hoop. I just think he didn't understand the level of commitment and passion the NBA is. Seems like he really enjoys basketball I just don't know if he enjoys 80 hours of a week of basketball and basketball preperation.
It was clear that a guy with that frame needed all his body to be almost muscle fibre because the knees would suffer, it happens in all sports all time, heavy guys have knee issues
It’s more common in football that you get a guy eating himself out of a career like Kelvin Benjamin and Eddie Lacy, but it’s a shame to see it happening or such a generationally talented guy. The curse of the “next Lebron” title. It happened to Ben Simmons, Zion, and let’s hope it doesn’t happen to Wemby.
to his credit, 22 , 6 and 5 on 62% true shooting percantage is really good. But if hes doing that at this weight then he would be outstanding if he was fit
Struggling with knee/ankle problems and struggling with weight is a tough combination. If you're heavy to start with, you knees and ankles are overworked. If you then injure those knees/ankles, it's going to be a really tough road to recovery and the difficulty with ambulating/mobilizing will only make it harder to control your weight. I feel bad for Zion because that's a tough spot to be in. Honestly, it's remarkable that a guy with those knee issues and weight issues was able to play basketball and be as athletically explosive as he is. Most people at his size and weight have only a fraction of his athleticism and talent.
He just doesn’t have “it” (whatever that may be.) He just doesn’t have the drive to live up to expectation. He seems more than content where he’s at. He could retire tomorrow & live comfortably for the rest of his life. All for playing a game that comes easy to him. People should stop putting so much pressure on the guy. Obviously he’s not built for this kind of pressure & it’s likely the cause of his over-eating & lack of motivation.
That's rich of Barkley to critisize someone for playing overweight. He's a HOFer, yes, but he could've reached even greater heights and been Top10 alltime if he kept his weight in check lol.
I don’t think is a problem. We are speaking of a player who got millions so early but doesn’t have the mentality to put up the work to be the best he can be in his craft. It’s like making it to the nba and they pay you before you even do anything. Us broke people, if we hit the jackpot tomorrow we will be acting a fool as well. 90% of our money will go towards food girls and cars.. we’ll be broke and fat with child support in less than a year.
Listening to blokes justify Zion’s unique physique and metabolism is pathetic. It’s not a semantic argument…: yes dudes can be festive and dominate as hard their most chiseled equivalent. That’s not this guy… when they shows him lumbering down the court toward LeBeron like he’d shit his pants and didn’t want take any more steps than necessary. Eye of the Tiger? More like rib-eye.
people need to understand, the criticism of his weight comes from a position of love, not hate. he's one of the most talented and explosive players in the league in a long while, if he can keep his weight in check, this mf will dominate, and we all want to see that excitement in the league.
His genetics are playing a huge role in this, hes at a predisposition to hold on to and gain body fat quickly. The only way he could lose weight is if he's had a severe caloric deficit but he won't have any energy to play basketball at that point. Having a slow metabolism sucks
@Acradus bro I can tell you from personal experience as someone who has a very slow metabolism that even eating normal amounts of food that you see other NBA players eat will make you gain significant weight very quickly. He would have to starve himself to get lean but that's not conducive to being a high level athlete who needs lots of energy to perform
You can eat higher volume lower cal healthy foods. He has access to the best chefs, nutritionists and dieticians in the world... Not the best excuse. Theres creative ways to make healthy eating palatable and he can hire the people to do it for him. I can only dream of being so talented and wealthy bc i never will be at his level.
"You look like you showed up to the game having just had a buffet... Not something FROM the buffet... *THE BUFFET!* Like he ate the damn table". Oh LAWD
He needs to convert to a more Euro style game, body people stay low and work boards, he could be in the league for 10 years that way, this over physical style with his body type he'll be done in 5, bless the knees but damn the pope would need to be oncall for his.
These kids are not built like the explosive players of the 80s and 90s..i dont know if its the bad foods(gmo)nowadays, lack of discipline, lack of maturity, poor genetics, the politics behind the game or the lack of heart compared to the past players..Zion is good but he's fat and out of shape..he could probably execute better if he lost about 30lbs..honestly, over the past 10 to 20 years the game is getting more and more watered down..the newer generation seems to have lost that killer instinct and hunger on the court..
Clearly basketball isn’t his passion. He’s made millions already and is just coasting. Not everyone wants to win a ring.

I actually have compassion for this young man. Clearly he is aware of the situation, and just as clearly, he is not capable of dealing with it at the moment. I think it's basically a type of mental illness. The poor guy needs help honestly.
Yea and everyone making of him what world we live in
Zion just chugging up and down the court like he's on Everest
He can't climb it no more..🙄
@@glennjthompson332 He'll be chillin at base camp 🏕
Ayoooooo🤣
@@baconeggcheesepodcast9390 Is this a bot? Same comment in almost all the replies.
@@dogworldonline1189so fat ppl are like drug addicts,?
this is his job, if working out is all u had to do all day, i think u would be fine.
Strange that he has his high horse with him on the one topic he's actually qualified to talk about, besides 'how do I get born with superior genes to specifically play Basketball?'
We all remember Kobe's 'I'd have 4 more rings if he went to the gym...*.
Shaq is a 3x finals mvp. Zion can barely play 1/3 of his games.
Hard to reach your ceiling when your about to break the floor
He already had a legendary career at duke, got paid multiple millions as a professional player. Maybe he just doesn’t care about NBA glory.
Holy shit a mature person with a nuanced take in this comment section
Editing on the intro is crazy lmaooo, good job bro
Teams need to stop giving these guys 200 million contracts. Zion and Ben S. are perfect examples of too much too soon without proving anything
Thank you
Bro this video kills me every time lord have mercy I can't stop laughing lol
Maybe he should switch to competitive eating.
💀💀💀💀💀
That would take too much effort, he’s lazy
Love your commentary man, you hella funny on the low. Great vid thank you
It was clear that a guy with that frame needed all his body to be almost muscle fibre because the knees would suffer, it happens in all sports all time, heavy guys have knee issues
Great video, I'm glad you popped up on my homepage. Subscribed.
I hope he gets the diet in check but one thing you can guarantee is we will be seeing this dude after he is retired at 350+ lbs
Nothing like getting a snack and watching one of these
It’s more common in football that you get a guy eating himself out of a career like Kelvin Benjamin and Eddie Lacy, but it’s a shame to see it happening or such a generationally talented guy. The curse of the “next Lebron” title. It happened to Ben Simmons, Zion, and let’s hope it doesn’t happen to Wemby.
Nobody called Wemby Lebron. They called him Durant, or just “the best SINCE Lebron”. But nobody compared him to Lebron. So he doesnt have that curse.
Zion could learn from wemby and wemby from zion
U bots n ur usage of generational talent 😆
to his credit, 22 , 6 and 5 on 62% true shooting percantage is really good. But if hes doing that at this weight then he would be outstanding if he was fit
how does one become a "former #1 pick"?
by not being a current number 1 pick.
You get your millions, and do enough to be in the league simple lol. Everybody doesn't care about a legacy.
Past as in previous
once a number one pick, always a number one pick
Love how to you pronounced "Laissez Faire." I totally believe you speak French.
Nah you can't feel sorry for Zion. He's a grown man and he can't stay under 300lbs to keep a 200m contract?! He's got no one to blame but himself
Best vid to watch on the way home from basketball game
This didn't age well...
That thumbnail had me dyin..😆😅🤣😂☠/🧐This is what's telling the truth of what's happening to him!?😮💨
Facts great thumbnail
The thumbnail is fucking hilarious. 😂😂😂
Most people at his size and weight have only a fraction of his athleticism and talent.
i need an AI generated Zion Williams McDonalds commercial right now!
13:00 did he just come from the training facility? I admit that I'm fat (290lbs at 6ft) and I breathe like that when I walk up to the 5th floor....
Just eat salads. Would you eat salads for a year for 8 million dollars?
I would be a salad eating mofo.
salads don't provide proper human nutrition tho
No chance
I say i would but after 6 months, i think id tap tf out.
No
Idk man...200 mil to play a sport and messing it up because you can't put a fork down is crazy
He can hire the best trainers, chefs. Most NBA players are under 250... NBA need lean players for that sport!
Great vid, as usual. Love from Serbia.
He needs to get out of New Orleans. Food is just too good over there. 😂
😋Yummy! 🧇 He can't help the new orleans finest!🍗🥯🥙🥞🥓🦞🦀🍤🦑😆

The music is killing me. Stop it!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What's a half a million to Zion for the win? He signed a 200 million contract with shoe deal on top.
You should do the BackStory/History of all Draymond Green's fights😂
Why? Everyone already made them
That's rich of Barkley to critisize someone for playing overweight. He's a HOFer, yes, but he could've reached even greater heights and been Top10 alltime if he kept his weight in check lol.
damn, Zion
is it Father Time already?
It's burger time
Mama Kitchen Bell
I don’t think is a problem. We are speaking of a player who got millions so early but doesn’t have the mentality to put up the work to be the best he can be in his craft. It’s like making it to the nba and they pay you before you even do anything. Us broke people, if we hit the jackpot tomorrow we will be acting a fool as well. 90% of our money will go towards food girls and cars.. we’ll be broke and fat with child support in less than a year.
He’s actually slimming down now. Last game he was in great shape.
Barkley telling him he’s out of shape is elite considering his nickname 😭
There is nothing more repulsive than seeing somebody who has a one-in-ten-million gift, who doesn’t care to utilize it.
Can’t take it so personal. He’s content with that so he obviously couldn’t care less what we all think
Ayton and simmons too, oh well
Listening to blokes justify Zion’s unique physique and metabolism is pathetic.
He's turning into the modern day Oliver Miller
Oliver Miller produced and went to an NBA finals. Miller was never called a bust.
@nerdsworthpoindexter6661 speaking strictly about the weight...not the career
Don't forget John "Hot Plate" Williams lol
people need to understand, the criticism of his weight comes from a position of love, not hate. he's one of the most talented and explosive players in the league in a long while, if he can keep his weight in check, this mf will dominate, and we all want to see that excitement in the league.
They paid him way too much before proving anything. Dudes been overrated since h.s.
5:20 Off topic, but just now realizing Richard Jefferson looks like Darth Plagueis
His genetics are playing a huge role in this, hes at a predisposition to hold on to and gain body fat quickly. The only way he could lose weight is if he's had a severe caloric deficit but he won't have any energy to play basketball at that point. Having a slow metabolism sucks
He can stop eating tons of food
@Acradus bro I can tell you from personal experience as someone who has a very slow metabolism that even eating normal amounts of food that you see other NBA players eat will make you gain significant weight very quickly. He would have to starve himself to get lean but that's not conducive to being a high level athlete who needs lots of energy to perform
@@sydguitar99then work out more
@Acradus he's already probably working out 2 to 3 hours a day, he's not super human. You clearly dont understand how biology works
You can eat higher volume lower cal healthy foods. He has access to the best chefs, nutritionists and dieticians in the world... Not the best excuse. Theres creative ways to make healthy eating palatable and he can hire the people to do it for him. I can only dream of being so talented and wealthy bc i never will be at his level.
you see how Zion wore a black t shirt when he went to see Gilbert arenas tryna look slimmer lol
Aren't they on a win streak currently? Also he had like 37 the other day??
Imagine being born already having won the genetic lottery and completely pissing it away.
Man as big athletic guy myself I'm rooting for Zion.. bro loves to eat
As long as his game backs it up no1 will make it an issue
Go Zion 💪🏽
He's a bust
As long as they pay he eats.
"You look like you showed up to the game having just had a buffet... Not something FROM the buffet... *THE BUFFET!* Like he ate the damn table".
Oh LAWD
Cooked him 😭😂
He needs to convert to a more Euro style game, body people stay low and work boards, he could be in the league for 10 years that way, this over physical style with his body type he'll be done in 5, bless the knees but damn the pope would need to be oncall for his.
Imagine Zion but with the dawg of Pat Bev. Would be repeat MVP already
Can’t make em go if he doesn’t wanna go it’s tragic
These kids are not built like the explosive players of the 80s and 90s..i dont know if its the bad foods(gmo)nowadays, lack of discipline, lack of maturity, poor genetics, the politics behind the game or the lack of heart compared to the past players..Zion is good but he's fat and out of shape..he could probably execute better if he lost about 30lbs..honestly, over the past 10 to 20 years the game is getting more and more watered down..the newer generation seems to have lost that killer instinct and hunger on the court..
I just know that incoming James Harden video is going to be 10 hours long.
Don't spoil lmfao
ur videos r so good
That thumbnail is crazy
It's telling the truth!🙄
A belly , A BELLYYYY 😂😂
He's a bust, he has no heart & they overpaid him.
Right 😂
