    wow, it is blowing my mind how powerful and (for the most part) how straight forward and usable the hair+grooming+geo nodes are. coming from xgen in maya.... this is fantastic being able to quickly see your edits live, go back to earlier steps and make changes, and reorder modifiers. blender is so so good

    • @NinoDefoq
      @NinoDefoq  Рік тому

      Damn that's sick coming from an xgen user! What would be your preference at the moment?

    • @ShaneCasserly
      @ShaneCasserly Рік тому

      @@NinoDefoq at the moment, I think I do prefer blender over xgen, one thing I do miss is being able to quickly add randomness to the values for clumping, frizz, etc.
      In Maya, you could quickly just type in rand(0.2, 0.6) and get some nice variation in the modifiers. It looks like in Blender you would have to navigate the geo nodes and do it there. not a big issue but it could become cumbersome.

    Where is the Color/UV Map button inside the Group Input node in Blender 4.1? I can't find it and am therefore stuck at this point in your wonderful tutorial.

      Connect the Named Attribute "name" input to an empty socket in the group input (timestamp 10:23). I explain how to set it up at around 10:31 :) Let me know how it oges!

    Missing info. Hi Nino! Incredible tutorial! Thanks you so much, very usefull. One question, how could I add the attributes "value" and "Color/UVmap" to my geometry node? In the minute 07:23 you have changed something but I can't see what. Thanks in advantage!

    You don't need the whole geometry nodes setup. When you add the hair system, a surface_uv_coordinate attribute is created which you can use as the UV coordinates to transfer the texture.

      I was having same issue, but I just fixed it by changing "surface UV map" on "Interpolate hair curve [second modifier]" to "Color". Maybe you forgot to change that as well??

      @@Nareshistudio Glad it worked, but it seems we don;t need to make this geometry node setup. Blender automatically creates UVmap which you can simply put in attribute in shader editor and it works just fine.

    Thank you for that great tutorial! Do you know how to make fur to not grow or show inside the mouth while animating a rigged character? It's weird when my character opens a mouth and we see fur inside his mouth.

    Great tutorial! Thank you!
    One question, during the creation of the fur I went into the edit mod and made some edits deleted some hairs, and then continued to work creating new hairs in sculpt mode, but as it turned out later that some hairs created before edit mode no longer editable using the sculpting tools, only new hairs remained editable.
    Question, is there any way to return the ability to edit the hairs after edits in the edit mode, or do I need to create everything again?

    If you're a Texture Paint noob (like me) and you can't figure out how to "set it to black" at 3:55, tap the 'X' key to swp the black/white colors.
    Also, if you see only six big squares instead of a whole bunch of little ones, apply the subdivision modifier on the original cube.
    Welp, applying the subdivision modifier may have been a bad idea? After doing the Texture Paint, and switching back to object mode, all my fur is in a cube shape surrounding the spherical Emitter.

      Ohh and by the way, if anybody is having the same problem, use interpolate hair instead of duplicate, and change the distance to guide and density options
