- How to bypass a TORS on a Yamaha Blaster 200 (YFS200)
Today we are working on a Yamaha Blaster 200 (YFS200) and we are going to bypassing the TORS on the carburetor because often times they go bad rather than help you out or be used. If they go bad you will get no spark at the spark plug. Now if the problem is your ATV is not getting fuel to the engine that's a different problem. The TORS just breaks the connection to the spark plug. This project should take you roughly 10-20 minutes.
The TORS provided by Yamaha is meant to protect you if your machine's throttle gets stuck open or your cable breaks. If you remove the TORS it will not shut off if this happens and I or Yamaha are not responsible for any injury or death. With that being said know you can still use your kill switch, key, or pull your clutch and stall your ATV if this happens.
So with that being said let's dig into it. This video is for older Blasters, the 2003 and newer are different.

Thanks man me and my uncle where struggling we cleaned the carb like 5 times 👍👍
Me salvaste la vida loco, el mio tenia la falla del tors y lo resolvi con este video. Abrazo
Got an 06 blaster and the previous owner had a wrist throttle which made it difficult to control unless you were drag racing. I ordered a used OEM thumb throttle off ebay which had a wire harness attached. Thanks for explaining what that connected to and what the TORS system is. I believe with the wrist throttle currently on the Blaster they already had to bypass the TORS system. I'll just remove the rubber grommet from the harness and silicone her closed!
Thanks man this fixed my blaster thank u so much I clean the crab like 6 times thinking that was it but I found out it was the tors
Awesome Glad it helped out and you got it running!
This is the best video that I've seen about troubleshooting this particular problem thank you!. I disconnected that kill switch up at the throttle. Then I disconnected the black and Yellow wire harness underneath the headlight. I think I'm missing one other step because I'm still not getting a spark. I've got a group of 5 wires next to the carburetor on the choke side I tried can disconnecting each one of those at a time to see if I could then get a spark. I didn't get a spark. took out the two wires connected up to that throttle kill ....By the way I did also check the kill switch on the left side of the handlebars and those have already been disconnected and still no luck.wondering if you have any other suggestions from there? Thanks again for your video it was very easy to folliw. definitely not a mechanic!
thank you fix my bike after disconnecting the cables u suggested thanks again
Glad it worked out for you 💪
Thank you brotha !🙏🏻
Anytime!
as soon as you said raptor 660 i subed i have the exact same quads a blaster 200 and raptor 660
Hello, STARTING AT 5:58 seconds when you followed the wires and found the socket you disconnected .. where could i find that middle piece that’s in between the 2 pieces you disconnected? My blaster randomly had that piece handing out after a rough ride in the back of my car.
She’ll start up but when i give it gas she would barley move then cut off. I’m assuming it’s that middle piece that’s connects the 2 wires together. Oh yeah and my front brake randomly stopped working after that happen any coincidence?
Hey man I’m going to try this for mine got it a new carburetor, top end and a new filter and it will not start and I don’t know what it is
Nice vid
Happen to know why I can't get my 01 blaster? Did this, got it running good for a couple days now it seems like the same thing happened again,no spark but I cut the wires to it.like I said I had to cut the toes a few days ago ,got it going, running good for a couple days and today it started sputtering and lost spark all of a sudden... Any help
Nice airfilter👌
Thanks lol This atv is going to be a complete rebuild so I have that on my list of things to buy
only if u wouldve posted this vid a month earlier because i was looking everywhere for a good tors delete vid!! But i got it 👍🏼
Steezy Sebass Yeah I just picked up the Yamaha Blaster and when searching for a video on it myself I wasn’t able to find one. So I thought it was definitely much needed for one in case anyone was having the same issues.
Project Garage thats dope man , cant wait for the content 🤷🏼♂️👍🏼
@@steezyseabass4982 Thanks! Can't wait to really get this blaster going and mod this thing out!
Do you have a blaster 200?
Project Garage yea got a steal on it , all it needed was a tors delete 🤷🏼♂️
Can you still adhust the idle after you do this method?
I just bought a blaster today and have no spark at all. This is the only video I can find on how to get rid or TORS without replacing the thing on top of carb,my qeustion is leaving the box on top of carb will I still be able to adjust idle and all that? Also once I do this will it affect anything in a negative way?? Thanks for any help and have great day
Yes you will still be able to adjust the idol. In order to do that you use the big flat head screw on the top of the carb, it is kind of tricky and I recommend replacing the top end of the carb but you can get away with using that to adjust idol. You may have to readjust the float needle as well
Cool video. I have an 01 blaster. I rebuilt carb & i tried doing the low budget tors removal by clipping the blk/ylw wire, removing blk box under hood, & unplugging harness on top of carb. It started right up which was awesome BUT my problem is that 1st gear bogs out now when 1st taking off but the rest of the gears feel perfect with plenty of pull...I tried adjusting air screw on carb & big idle screw under seat...my question is, did I do something wrong during tors delete? Was I supposed to relocate the idle screw & tap into the carb by buying New tors delete kit? Looks like on your video the carb already has the idle screw tapped into the carb..any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks
Did you figure it out Ik having same problem
@@dannykimble1112 nope. I gave up not too long after & ended up selling it on offerup. good luck brotha
Dont you have to tie the yellow and black wires together??? Pretty sure you do.
Could this be why my machine is fouling plugs so much… Also I am currently working on it, will not crank . Has good compression usually starts first kick. I checked the spark visually, could hear it popping when grounded. Have been having a few issues where I suspected tors ...But if you could get up with me Id like to find out What experiences you have had with a bad system
On this atv it wouldn’t start and wasn’t getting spark so I wanted to bypass the system and eliminate it. After that it has been getting spark, also needed a new stator too
Did you find a solution ??
Sup dude having a problem with my blaster when I open the throttle fully its like there's a limiter would this be a tors issue 🤔
Yea
There’s a screw next to the throttle that you can either losen or takeoff completely if you do you will be able to get the full power out of your atv
My blaster revs up high what can it be I have to turn it off quick don’t want it to blow up lol
Check out ur throttle cable and ur idle screw
What does it do?
Great video on the TORS. I just broke the yellow wire that is inside the housing next to the throttle cable. My son has a 2001 Blaster. So I can simple cut the wires and the eliminates the TORS complete? So breaking that wire has no effect other than no spark at top end?
Have another question. My son snapped his throttle cable. I bought a new one installed it but when I put it all back together I have slack in the cable. If I have the cylinder out of the carb it works as it should. Once I screw it all back together I get the slack and no return on the throttle. My son would be forever grateful if you can help is dad put it back together. #stayathome Thanks
You can bypass the tors and eliminate it but if you do you might have to mess with the carb settings for it to run smooth. For the throttle line you want a little slack but not a ton, if you pull down the rubber guard by the throttle there should be a lock washer and adjustment bolt you can tighten it up there. Good luck, hope you get it running!
The best TORS delete on the Yamaha Blaster is to take that POS stock carburetor off! Install a 28mm Kiehin carburetor, problem solved! Your welcome in advance. ✌️
Well does it work why’d you not start it?
There was other work to be done to it as well, it wasn’t just a tors issue
@@ProjectGarageSRT but when you cut the wires that you cut in the video and leave the tors system in the carb does it still work
I was wondering if you can help me my blaster thumb throttle won’t let me push it do you think it’s the cable or the tors
David Blum is the throttle stuck where you can’t move it or is it not doing anything on the bike when you push it?
Project Garage I can’t push so the bike won’t move
If the throttle is stuck it might be seized up, the tors wouldn’t have anything to do with it if you can’t even move the throttle lever
Project Garage thanks man it was the cable I need to tighten the cylinder the part were the clutch cable connects how am I suppose to torque it if the torque wrench doesn’t fit through there
@@davidblum_ Are you sure you have the right cable and it's not the one for a twist throttle? It's hard to tell without seeing it but you might have to take off some other parts to get to the adjustment if you can't get the wrench in the area.
Turn it on nd give a review 💞
I still have a lot of work to do on this machine however I am about to give a review for my Raptor 660 soon
I did all the steps, now it does not start..
I had brought a 2001 blaster off this guy and the TORS was deleted already. Brought brand new parts but I'm still not getting any spark. Would you know what that might be?
It might be your stator, could also be the CDI or regulator
They don’t come with torxs bolts lol
Its a good video but please god give that poor bike a make over??
Not mine to make a over 😂 trust me I would love too
Mine will start easy then run about 20 seconds and die
