Ciao Albe! It's nice to see you here, didn't knew you were subbed to the channel! (I'm getting old...)
Anyway, yeah, the raw power of those bikes was absolutely addicting!
      But...
I was at a point where my bikes (2007 1098s and 1996 ZX7RR) were literally just...
there. I wasn't using them, I wasn't sure I even wanted to. But, I was
still paying "owning taxes" and insurances for both. So I decided to make "THE MOVE" and sell them. Oh well, now I'm having a blast so I guess all is well :)

Pierre ADV, of course I subscribed. Yeah, same thing for me, I had both bikes and found myself almost exclusively riding the GS. I remember the prices of insurance and registration in Italy 🇮🇹, outrageous!!!lol

Albe's Adv they're still insane. I'm in first class and I have to pay roughly 290€ yearly. I can't imagine how much a kid getting his first bike must pay, I'd say around 750€. How the hell is a young man supposed that amount, plus buying the bike, the gear and so on?
Bah. And then they complain that "nowadays kids don't have the same kind of passion we did". Of course! They simply can't afford to!

Florida Outdoor Adventures Deal! As soon as raining/freezing/fog/ice stop (aka when I can finally ride), I'm gonna make that vid! ✌🏻

That last point is very interesting, similar to wha happens in the area where I live, a lot of guys come here to ride the local roads and along with them comes the idiots who take it just that bit too far and speed too much, basically they fuck it up for everyone including local riders because the cops are everywhere and non riders look down on us so for sure I understand where you're coming from on that point 100%

I guess the world really is a small place, after all. Or, rather, that all riders are sharing the "having to deal with idiots" bit.
And it's a shame, IMHO. Just because of a handful of overhyped idiots, ALL of us must pay the price. I'm not hiding behind a finger, often I was breaking speed limits and so on, but certainly NOT while going through heavy traffic, or when doing that would put mine, my passengers' or other people's safety at risk.
I actually miss riding my two babies, but everything eventually got the point where:
1- if I wanted to ride on the road, I had to constantly think about being pulled over
2- if I wanted to ride on the track, it would cost me literally 1/3 of my paycheck for just a day (or HALF a day!)
2.5 - which brings up this: with that kind of money, I can easily do a long weekend of moto-tourism.
I was at a point where my bikes (98 and ZX) were literally just... there. I wasn't using them, I wasn't sure I even wanted to. But, I was still paying "owning taxes" and insurances for both.

Oh for sure me nether, I used to speed quite a bit but I tended to avoid the more popular local roads and scout them out first to make sure there quiet, Ive got to say though I guess trackdays are a more convenient option over here compared to Italy by the sounds of it, probably around the 150 euro mark for a full day so thankfully I have that option, plus a lot of very good tracks within an hour or so away.
But for sure If it wasn't for trackdays then I very much doubt I'd own a sportbike at all

You know, I'm hearing that from a lot of guys at this point. Guys from basically all over the world!
"Wow, you guys do really pay a lot for those trackdays!"
And the irony is, I have not one, but TWO tracks near where I live. One is the Varano track (20 minutes away), the other is San Martino (40 minutes).
Also, for a trackday, I would normally consume a full tank of fuel plus two 20liters canisters. That makes a grand total of 55,5 liters (15.5 + 20 + 20)!!!!
The GSA800 can hold 24 liters, and has an average fuel range of 450/500kms. That means, that with the amount of fuel I'd use on ONE trackday, I could ride for nearly 1.000kms (or a month, basically)!!!
I know I'm getting annoying with all these "old-man-speeches", but when money is tight and you have to make ends meet, you start considering literally EVERYTHING.

You do pay a LOT for those trackdays it's pretty crazy, it's about 3 times as expensive, or I could do 2 full days, van hire and fuel for that, I can understand why you stopped riding them now. Though normally with the daytona I'll go through one and a half tanks of fuel, I guess it's pretty economical even at pace :P
I totally agree though, I think riding sport bikes is a very expensive hobby and if your no longer getting full enjoyment out of it compared to how much you are having to pay then for sure there are better more economical options
I just love speed, or more so hard acceleration, and tricking up my bike, I like that side of it, always tweaking the spec and or the setup

I still love speed and the other things you mentioned, sure. But I have to admit that having this "history" of coming from motocross, if one day somebody came up with the question "Asfalt or Dirt?" I know I'd choose the latter without even blinking. As I say in the video, reason n.4. I know that mx isn't really the same thing as adventuring, but the call from knobbie tyres and dirt is getting stronger and stronger...

Riding "sport" bikes are like riding a thoroughbred horse! You sit in a position that's really a temporary position! Tucked up and in.. No ability to relax and enjoy the views! I used to ride like that and thought I was the Tom Cruise in Top Gun! I was in my 20s then but now...I'm a bit older, much wiser and find that riding a good triangulated position is much more comfortable and far more fun!

      Hey, thanks for the comment!
I absolutely agree. My "career" has been:
      -MX racer
      -Sportbike rider
-ADV rider. And right now, on my F800GSA I can do literally whatever I want: I can go offroad exploring, I can attach my panniers and go touring... I'm kind of "re-born", riding wise! I'm really having fun. What's your current ride, mate?
