- Today we are back at Bill Martinson's place to finish up the new home for his famous Common Snapping Turtle, Snappy. This new home is designed to allow him to thrive in an ecosystem that will make him very happy for years. Bill and Snappy's friendship goes back over 30 years now! Unlike other common snapping turtles that you should never attempt to touch, with Snappy, you can pet him as much as you'd like, which makes him one of a kind.

Do you think Snappys new home will give him a better quality of life?
It sure will! Happy, and healthy. I cannot believe how friendly he is! A one of a kind snapping turtle that deserves the good life.
The natural biological balance will definatley add to his life quality. So glad I could be part of this major improvement.
No Brainerd there pal!
Cant believe how friendly he is!!!
Yessss❤❤❤
Snappy is one cool turtle. That is a fantastic home you made for him.
He’s Incredible!!!
&
Thanks…..
He looks so happy.
Man, I can totally understand how easy it is to fall in love with snappy. Near the end of your talk he had turned around and was looking right into his humans eyes... There's a different kind of intelligence about reptiles but it's no less than for animals we have an easier time relating to. Just amazing stuff :))
I agree, there is a lack of worry and an acceptance of 'this is how it is' i see in reptile eyes a lot. It's like, a ignorant is bliss mixed with wisdom vibe to me.
the world’s most under rated animal species.💚💚
That's one snapper! Wow!
🔆
The Best!!!
THANK you so much for sharing Snappy and his fantastic family and friends!! You and your team are outstanding!!!✌️❤️🙏
Beautiful!!! ❤
🙏🙏🙏
Ed sure has an eye for recreating nature. It was a pleasure to work with him on this!
@@EdThePondProfessor aye!! I love your work Ed! Honestly your enclosure builds are so beautiful and amazing! Hope that one day I can have one made! 😭😭
@@crunchinfo he does! Honestly came out so amazing and that snapping turtle of yours is so awesome!!!
Your a beautiful and loved 🐢 turtle snappy..❤❤❤❤
Snapping turtles raised as pets for me, I never was bit. Kids were killing the babies and I found one left and raised it till it was big enough to released. These pr ehistoric animals deserve the respect
No way a snapping turtle can be friendly! I cannot believe it so far!
I know?!?!
It’s crazy!!!
Mine is the same way. It is true.
look up Gizmo he is a friendly Snapping turtle and Gizmo acts more like a dog than a turtle its funny
@@ImALeadFarmerMF friendly snapping turtle sounds like 'giant enemy spider' but actually it's friendly. (P.s. ty, I'll look up. I think I've seen Gizmo once)
Haha it’s kind of crazy, my boyfriend’s sister’s boyfriend (really didn’t know how to word that) had a pet snapping turtle that was so chill. He’d take it out the tank and just let it walk around the house! Never bothered anyone and would even let you pet it. Even at parties with unfamiliar people it would just be chillin
Outstanding, I'm glad Snappy has a great life. I just pulled on off the highway , just a few days ago, pushing him across the street , got is ire up, but he's still alive & that was the goal. He was about 10 inches long, biggest one I've ever seen & he had the moves... I'm too old for another pet... I just turned 81, can't hardly get around...
Snappy is a really special turtle 🐢 now he's got a great new home!!! The Hotel Snappy 🏨
Snappy beautiful baby ❤
There are other friendly snappers like Gizmo,Tank and my girl Spot. They’re incredibly intelligent creatures
Yup. My girl is laid-back as well. Get them small and handle them a lot and most will trust you. Mine will be going into her pond when it warms up.
Unfortunately their general genetic disposition seems to be semi friendly, even though they are efficient killing machines. 😊
Are they really smart? Seriously, I never had a Turtle, so I really have no idea of their intelligence. But I've heard people say that some turtles are smart. How? Do they know their names, do they know their owner, can they show affection, do they show emotions? I'm curious.
@@berjaboysnapping turtles are incredibly intelligent. They know their keepers also.I have some that come to me when I signal for them.
The greatest turtle on UA-cam hands down 🎉
Great. He realize just how much he is loved. Incredibly beautiful!!
🙌🏻
He is soooo cute! Garden state tortoise ❤😊has a friendly box named Otis.
Such wonderful turtle. He is like Morla from Neverending story but nicer 🤗
What a beautiful creature!! I have so much appreciation for what you’re doing we need more people who love and protect animals of all kinds.
haha 0:20 "he definitely no a common snapping turtle" 0:50 "so snappy is a common snapping turtle" ;)
Snappy is an amazing animal!

A not so common, Common for sure!
Awesome turtle and turtle pond 👀💚👍🏽👀💚🐢🐢🐢🐢
What a phenomenal project for a well deserving humanitarian and his beloved, snapping turtle!
I really liked how you explained how warm blooded animals consuming so much energy also has other affects!! I was just thinking about it the other day, it's nice to hear it articulated so well. Awesome video and I love snappy :D
Y’all have such an incredible company and have created so many eco systems I enjoy seeing on other channels too. It’s always beautiful and interesting!!
What a amazing animal. As always Ed thanks for sharing this video. Lone live Snappy!!!!😊
I have a baby snapping turtle he's 3months old an very nice, also live in Indiana. There very awesome animals Very friendly. Can be shy at first...
Wow...That's wonderful.
What a awesome Turtle. Glad you built him something amazing
Ed this video was amazing thanks so much for sharing as always Snappy and his new habitat is awesome 🥰
Snappy definitely has the penthouse! It is very sad to see how much habitat lose there is. We are stewards of this world. Always leave it the same or better.
Awesome ! Sweet 👌 Great job as always 👏
I had no idea these guys could be this well socialized. Reptiles continue to surprise me.
Very cool setup! Loved all the educational information on Snappy and the habitat.
Thanks for watching!!!
🙏🙏🙏
That is a truly amazing pond for an amazing snapper!
I want a I LOVE SNAPPY t-shirt!!!!
Yes!!!
Me too!
This was amazing Ed!
My first thought when placing Snappy into that beautiful pond was... "Does anyone have a giant turkey baster?"
W O W. So cool. He’s awesome.
I hope they put Snappy in his will and make arrangements for what to do with him. They live really long....
Wow now that is really incredible. A snapping turtle that is friendly! Just never would have thought lol.
He has the best smile
This was awesome !
Love this
What. Awesome turtle
very cool 😎 great job
Love it! Greetings from Turkey
That’s incredible. Another amazing project by the Ed master. I’ve never seen that before so tame but I would still be careful please that snapper can do some damage if you wanted to.
So glad I was part of this build. Ed's eye for the natural details is unmatched.
Thanks Rusty!!!
Looking forward to assisting you on your pond…..
Thanks Bud!!!
Even though I knew Snappy wouldn’t hurt me it was always in the back of my mind…..
The update ive been waiting for!!
So no need for any heating or uvb? Awesome enclosure!
Great Video
Sorry, I have the world’s nicest Snapping turtle.😌
BUT Snappy here looks like he is the most gentle soul of any Snapper.🥰
We back in a river in Delaware…snappers will be out soon, looking for love!
Amazing turtle
Such an awesome indoor setup!! I’ve got 2 small Sulcata tortoises. When they get bigger im going to build them a large enclosure outside in my front yard. I’ve been thinking of getting some common or gator snappers and building something in my backyard.
0:37 😂
That's really cool man I bet he's truly a life long pet hell he might outlive his owner
I love that he doesn't bite
Snappy's a real homie
amazing
I LOVE ME SOME SNAPPY
The owner found snappy when he was 9
Snappy was meant for you and you were meant for him . He is a wonderful boy. My kids will get my box turtle.
I thought you were going to let him stay outside so he can hybernate according to his natural rhythms. The amount of moisture that huge pond is created in that garage is going to cause mold to grow on the drywall! That will kill! I am suffering from mold exposure from a 16 year employment in a nursing home with a leaking roof! It had all the usual ventilation systems too! Staff were always reassured that there was not a mold problem. But my exposure to it exceeded my body's ability to detox it and now i am forced into early retirement and the administration still denies mold problems in that building!
i saw hes face happy
Wow
Awesome! Do you have any idea of the size of this turtle? Looks pretty big.
He kinda looks like a big, reptilian basset hound. I'd love to meet a snapper like that. The wild examples I've encountered seemed rather indifferent to my presence, but I didn't attempt to pet them, or anything.
It’d be believable if the turtle was nice to his owner but the fact he lets anyone touch him is incredibly
found Gizmo’s father lol
Gizmo is another uncommon friendly snapper
👍👍
I like snapping turtles
What kind of green tubs are they? Are they available to purchase online?
MASTER OOGWAY
this one time dog REALLY doesnt bite 😂😂
Did he Turtle wax that shell? It's sho is shiny.😂
Does he have a UVB source ?
Is his shell curling?
That's not a common snapping turtle. That's just a dog with a shell :)
Master Roshi?? Is that you
Are we sure this is a snapping turtle and not a puppy?
Why is he so friendly?
I would pick up small sliders and this big turtle would come to defend the small other types. It is obviously capable of love
Yes exactly
hes cute
That's awesome. Ballpark, what's a setup like this cost in 2023 dollars?
Lol didn’t realize ufo aliens like aquascaping! Maybe they like our fish better than their own!
Big fan of Snappy. Snappy is a Un-Common Snapping Turtle.
I have a pet common snapping turtle, shes a female and shea almost 4, each winter even though i have her inside she still goes into that hibernation type mode...is this normal? Does snappy go into that hibernatint mode?..she hasent broke out of that mode yet this year yet but she has not ate anything since december.....i know thats normal for them but its worries me...its always about 65 to 70 in my house, why does she still go into that hibernation mode
How old is snappy?
Does he have slight malocclusion?
The bite force of the Alligator snapping turtle is 158 newtons. The bite force of the Common snapping turtle is 209 newtons. The study of bite force in turtles Antwerp Belgium 🇧🇪.
BROOKLYN 😊
Hi
Hello!
How old is he ? Thanks
He’s 30 years old
Wow thanks!@@EdThePondProfessor
yet another animal species evolved enough to figure out how to exploit humans for maximum laziness 😂
What is a snapping turtle, which doth not snap?
Is there a reason why he doesn't snap? Like an injury or something?
No, i think it legitimately doesn't want to. Snapping turtles may only snap for food or self defense. This one has no fear of humans and in the video they explain it is just getting active. Cold blooded animals need heat to gradually get active and to digest. So, it has no fear of humans, it is just waking up, and it isn't hungry. No need to spend any energy snapping.
trust.
why is Bill missing the tip of his finger
I’m here to tell that it’s cap
How
It takes one time for the snapper to act like a snapper . Yikes .
I'm sure this man has had Snappy since he was a baby.
i find all Turtles are so cute..
