Wow. I didn't know you could do that with the nodes! Thanks for this.

Extremely helpful thank you so much! I've been trying to convert simple images of different fonts into files that my laser cutter would recognize that I want cut and just not engraved, and this helps immensely! Just the tip at the end to save the file as .dxf is all I needed! Thank you!
(By the way I am using a Mr.Beam 2 Dreamcut Ready Laser Cutter Engraver)

Thanks for the tutorial! When I tried to use the box tool to surround the text, it became a white box that covered the text...?

You can click on the box, then choose object fill&stroke and turn off the fill, or you can move the box layer to the bottom.

in Inskcape, I do not see the LASER menu in my Laserengraver folder, it takes two small programs that I accidentally deleted. Would anyone advise where to download them again? thank

You can remove fill by going to Object -> Fill and Stroke -> then turn the "fill" off

I have the following issue while using the laser in my Ender 3-Pro from Creality:
The height can be customized, and the printer responds to Z offset changes. (software, screen, or Gcode)
The machine, I heard it switch on/off, although it does not engrave at all from laser speed 15 to 3,000 mm/min that I tried.
I just see a mild sign of work when I put my eye close, but nothing noticeable.
The laser won't light up by itself. I have to go to the screen of the printer and adjust the Fan Speed 100% for every print.
Even though, the gcode file has M106 S255 in several sections..... and M107 at the end.
CAN YOU HELP ME TO MAKE THE LASER WORK....? it had not been an easy process, I am almost frustrated.
    Thanks.

Hi Johanna, sounds frustrating. This is a very specific problem related to your laser integration into the 3D printer. Seems like you are using fan power to drive the laser PWM, theoretically it should work. But maybe it doesn't supply enough current? You could use the heater output and then just set temp to zero for off and 50 for on, but you wont have fine control over the power. We've only used the protoneer style CNC shields to drive small lasers, they use a firmware called GRBL, and have a built in laser support.

Good tutorial but the clicking is very annoying throughout the video. Maybe could be silenced.
