Hey! I am new to Facebook ads and have a question that I hope you can answer. I'm running a campaign that started yesterday, but I'm not seeing any impressions or results in the conversion ad. How long does it take for results to appear in ad manager?
This is incredibly helpful and have been using it for a while, but I don't understand the core campaign very well. Do you have a video on core campaigns? and once you find your "best sellers" do you turn off the test? Thanks!
Hi Sydney, thanks for the content. I am using CBO, I had 1 ad performing well so I duplicated it and added a new creative (adset now has 2 ads). As a result of this the new ad/creative now has lots of spend going to it and my original performing ad is now converting 50% less. As there is no way setting ad spending limits (for example giving 50% of adset budget to each ad, have you tried/recommend duplicating the adset and having 1x ad in each adset instead of 2x ads in 1x adset? This way you could really test in a equal way…
This means you’ve found a winning creative! No, you can’t choose which $$$ goes to which individual ad, only at the ad set level. I would learn from that new test and make a new variation. If the original one is not performing well and it’s been 5-7 days, then turn it off and on to the next! Or find a way to improve it :) Don’t make a single ad set to give it its own budget.
Thank you! So once you find a winning ad do you make a new campaign for tests or test within the campaign? I spoke to Facebook yesterday which said make a new campaign for testing > see what works > if there is a winner > leave it and turn non winners off > then make another testing campaign. Rinse and repeat. This surprised me. Thanks again for your reply
@@liamsullivan4831 hmm, I would say sometimes Facebook has a different point of view than I do. I personally like having 2 campaigns. 1 core campaign with winning creatives, and one campaign for tests. Make a test inside an ad set in the testing campaign. if it performs well, add it to your core campaign by duplicating it. keep it running in your testing campaign until results drop off, or you need to make a new test. but if you are ready to make a new test and the testing ad is still performing well, make a new ad set for your new test.
@@VertexMarketingAgency thanks for the reply and all the value! I’m interested when you say “if the test is going well then make a new adset in your testing campaign” - is this because a new ad can impact the high performing testing ad results? If so surly the same impact would happen if you are duplicating your high performing ad into your main campaign I.E impact your main campaign high performing ads… Thank you in advance and keep up the great videos 😊
@@liamsullivan4831 Yes, I have found that it impacts performance. If you duplicate an ad from a GOOD test campaign to a WINNING core campaign, you're putting 2 good things together. If you are throwing a new ad into a good test, I've found that the new ad doesn't get sufficient budget if the other ads have lots of engagement and are already performing well. So, i prefer to keep the tests separate.
Hey! Great video, subscribed. Question - should you only test the same formats against each other, or does it still work if you test different formats? For example, 3 images in an ad set, or 1 image, 1 video and 1 manual carousel?
I would do video vs video, video vs image, but do only carousel vs carousel. they behave differently. But, once you have a really good video and a really good carousel, then you could test them against each other.
Hi Sydney, When you say move the winning video to your core campaign are you having 1 ad in that adset, or that one ad duplicated 3 times to have 4 ads in that broad adset?
Try to simplify your account as much as possible. So there should be 1 broad ad set per campaign. So, when you find the winning ad you use the ad and copy that performed best and add it to a core campaign (separate from testing) , and into a SINGLE ad set. Hope this helps!
Hey Sydney, great video as always! After finding a winner ad, am I correct to say that you import the winning combination into the core campaign? By that I mean the picture, primary text, headline, description that gives the highest conversion and run it as a single ad?
@@castrok2185 Core campaign is one that will always run, and have all the best-performing creatives in it. You will have a separate campaign to TEST new creatives. We separate the testing and core campaign.

Hey, Thanks for this killer video. Let me add something. I use WASK, which I use while publishing my ads, while finding the most efficient ad. I find it best for me by testing my ads between Facebook or Google ads, or between both platforms.
Hi there, great video. I usually use the dynamic creative, but I found out that if you upload feed and story formats, then FB may use the story image in feed placements, and vice versa. So, how do you deal with this matter? And another question, when you transfer a winning ad into your core campaign, do you dupe your adset o do you add this ad directly to your adset, making it enter the learning phase? Thanks!
I recommend using 1200x1500 for your ads fo rimages and videos so that it can fit relatively well in all placements! I copy the ad only, and yes it would reenter learning phase but thats ok.

For example if you have a short promotion period such as black week, do you replace your normal ads or do you create a separate campaign. Issue is that your potentially bidding against your own ads. What approaches could be taken to ensure a good promotion without disturbing the whole account. Thanks :)
Great video, but you really should have some sort of disclaimer or notation that you only use Dynamic Ads with your best performing ads AND this is not to be used with the initial testing phase ads that have no proven metrics behind them. I didn't even realize this until I watched one of your other videos where you stated this.
Hey John! Thanks for mentioning this. I think dynamic creative can be used in both scenarios! I always say it's worth testing out. It can be great for testing, but also as a core campaign. What I don't think it should be used for is mindlessly testing out a bunch of low-quality creatives. Hope this helps clear up my POV. :)
@@camainechi I think you should just to 1 broad and focus on creatives. The targeting is really done at the ad level now. Invest in working with creators, and making great videos that are up to par with what people see on their news feed.

Yes, FB uses AI to read the context of images, videos, and also the actual text! How can you call this a fair test when facebook gave 160k impressions to one ad, and 7k impressions to the other? A fair test would have both ads served equally before a winner gets decided. How do i test multiple creatives within the same audience but split the spend/impressions equally amongst the creatives? It seems like the only way to do this is to do a manage your experiments A/B/C/D test with 4 different ad sets, each containing one ad. This would force equal ad spend between all 4 ads I want to test and therefore produce a healthier test, no? Is there any other way to force spend equally between all creatives?
Facebook will decide which one merits the spend. Do not force budget on any ad. Only test 2 ads at a time to reduce the # of variables. Do not try to outsmart the algorithm. If it gets more spend/reach then it is the winner, but ideally you are looking at conversions to determine a winner. Focus on making great creatives.
