@@RetroGamerNation I am pretty sure someone did make something similar in the 80’s. The way that it worked was that you had your normal button on the base your joystick, and this thing was a separate module that was a removable sleeve that went over the top of the joystick and had its own cable that went to the other joystick port. You could not use it with just any joystick… It fit only on top of its companion joystick. I don’t know what the logic was for that, but I do remember you had to take it off because the cable would get in the way sometimes if you were not using it. Forgive me I was probably 10 years old at the time so my memory is a little hazy, but I definitely remember the way it worked and that it was black with yellow buttons. In my mind it looked like the Gemini Gemstik And the sleeve went on top of the Atari style stick part giving it a trigger button. Maybe it was just a fever dream because I’ve never seen it anywhere these days. Thanks for a cool video!
@@RetroGamerNationgood luck! I hope I don’t accidentally lead you on a wild goose chase! ( I could be went about the color … my friends went through a lot of different joysticks over the years )
Love my Stand Up Gaming Pixel Memories "Project Firestart" diorama he made for me. Though we don't have a ton of C64 news, it's good to hear from you Louie!
Craptacular! Thanks for the round up again! Slim pickings then but the look at all the games from the Craptastic competition is much appreciated! Some fun original ideas there even.
That joystick is the one I always would have wanted as a kid!!! I hated the joysticks that were around, and just used a Master System pad to play C64 games in the end.
The joystick configuration has been mentioned a few times. For me, having it the other way feels odd but I fully understand how it could be a deal breaker
Louie, please don't give up ... with the C64 scene withering away, how about branching into game reviews for quirky, retro-style Steam and Xbox games. Your commentary style is so original and authentic, it'll be such a loss to see you go
Thank you again for your support and kind words. There will be two more C64 round ups, including November and then the series will end. I am likely to continue producing content in 2025, albeit in a shorter, sharper format covering a broader range of machines.
Great idea with the joystick, can’t believe nobody thought of this back in the day. Thanks for uploading another great video
The double cable idea for the joystick feels so obvious and I am surprised they never did something for it back in the day.

You've got me intrigued. I might ask around to see if anyone else has recollections of it. Cheers.

Project Firestart model, that would look great I bet. Cheers for the support Adam
Always such funny and creative games get made for the craptastic jam, love it!
That joystick looks awesome, great idea to have space-bar as a button

That ninja baby carriage game looks brilliant considering the 4kB limit.

Thanks for having played mega run!🎉
That chip tune is sick af!
We are spoiled. Our Commodore 64 is a very active micro with THE BEST community!
Another nice roundup :) Thank you !
Spelunky!
Tsunami Tōsō looks brilliant and very Limbo like! I'd love to see that as a full-scale game with just a little more variety in gameplay.
It's definitely the most aesthetically pleasing to my eyes, and I really like the atmospheric SID tune
can you take the controller apart so we can see what's inside it
Thank you very much for the great game review!
Omg that Act Natural game by Goerp is hilarious
Those craptastic games are insane
That controller looks good, pity they're all left handed.
Thanks!
Is there something like a "every modern c64 game worth playing" rom pack anywhere
My word, slim Pickens.
What's that tune @1:25?
It’s excellent I’d like to know too
@@barriemain It sounds like 'Atom Unstable' mentioned in the description, but I don't think that's quite it.
The tune playing in the background is called TND Intro 2010 by the talented Richard Bayliss - csdb.dk/release/?id=93327
@@RetroGamerNation Cool, thank you! And thanks for your wonderful roundups. I've been a fan for years.
Ouch, for those of us who grew up using the Atari joystick configuration the stick should be on the right and the button on the left.
The joystick configuration has been mentioned a few times. For me, having it the other way feels odd but I fully understand how it could be a deal breaker
I can make one like that if you like

Stick rocks and so does your monitor.
Can't beat a quality Sony PVM, so sharp compared to a 1084
@@RetroGamerNation It's still S-Video, right?
The PVM does have S-Video and it looks really good. I also use it with the Ultimate 64 with RGB SCART for an even sharper and more vibrant picture.
