My father in law drove his International Scout pickup until it fell apart. Then he converted the bed into a trailer. Which I tow with my Rivian - so I guess I already have an EV Scout pickup. 😆
This is so spot on, from capability to towing to self serviceability to looks…. Everything here is just pitch perfect. I’ll wait a year to see if they are glitchy, but if not, I’m buying one in 2928.
I love scouts so i would choose this over a rivian or any other electric especially with the gas option. I was impressed by the hummer suv though once aome youtubers got to drive one in video. That was nice.
This is amazing.. Scout is in a fantastic position. Its gets to hire talent from existing EV companies bringing best practices. It gets to use well-developed battery/motor solutions used by other companies. It had a chance to study the whole industry for years and incorporate end user feedback into its initial design.. And will be able to benefit from the latest battery tech early on.
Thats a sweet looking EV Pick up .... Lookss like they put lot of thought into the utility for the pick up and the bench seats are just so cool. Very nice clean design , love it !!!!
My old school Scout, 300,000 on that engine. Locking front and rear. The only thing I had to fix was the front and rear differential. The engine is solid. This new one is like a new puppy, its cute but not like the old school dog in the house
Placed my reservation last night for the Scout Terra with range extender. Good to hear the front is winch capable. Only problem I have, is my advanced age. Hopefully I'll be able to take delivery and enjoy this absolutely wonderful new truck. Now the wait begins.
This is cool but it’s coming out in 2027 for around $60K. Cybertruck prices will likely continue to come down as Tesla ramps up. I would take a Cybertruck if prices are similar because by then they will have worked out the kinks and we’ll have a better idea of it’s reliability.
By 2027 Tesla will likely have done a massive facelift on the Cybertruck and drastically lowered the price like they've done with all their other cars. The only thing the scout has going for it is the bench seat.
Okay, now THAT is what I'm talking about! A body on frame PHEV, solid rear axle, locking diffs, mid size, with 10k tow rating, 2k payload, and it is aimed at $60k or less? If they manage to deliver the hybrid for around 50k you can bet your caboose I am buying one! Now, what remains to be seen is if reality meets expectation and I'm gonna be real, 2027 is a VERY long way off. In all honesty I think we will be lucky for this to actually reach the market and I will be shocked if they don't goose the price to over $90k to make it a luxury vehicle. The fact that the big manufacturers are ignoring the middle market in favor of luxury goods has left the largest market segment unserved. If these guys are smart and make cost effective versions they will be in a position to eat the lunch of GM, Ford, and Chrysler. Thanks to the TFL team for bringing this to my attention, this is EXACTLY what I have been begging for. And, since we have a few years till they launch, I will be saving my pennies to get one.
The strategy is to keep it an everyday man's truck. They know most of the market cannot afford a 100k truck. They are securing pricing for all parts now, so it should be pretty close to that.
@@arcostonian I sure as heck hope so. That looks like a very good overall package and if they do it right I think they will tempt a lot of folks away from the big three.
That bench seat is awesome. $60K sounds great but I'm guess most buyers will choose options that bring it closer to $80K or more. Very exciting though especially with the range extender option.
That truck is cool but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send us a single cab with 8' bed option! That would make it capable of being an actual work truck. 5.5' bed is more like a lifestyle vehicle. LOVE the bench seat
Single cab? What are you, divorced?!?!? Single? Most of us have 2 humans in the household along with Pets My Labrador alone eats 80% of the back seat. She only sits for the first 60 secs or so, then she lays down, much to my Blue Heelers' dismay.
That truck is real close to an international truck that I had as my first vehicle. I can’t wait to see what scout does with this vehicle and what accessories and old school designs
Nice looking truck. My Dad had a Travelall when I was growing up. Looking forwards to you guys being able to test it and see how it performs in the real world
My wife’s dad had the Travelall too. She remembers as a kid the family driving all over the US and Canada towing a camper. It was some govt surplus truck painted traffic cone orange. She and her sisters loved it.
I don't think $60k is going to be unrealistic in 2027 with how quickly battery prices are dropping. However thats probably not the trim they're showing here.
That’s my worry. They never show the base version on any reveals. For instance I wouldn’t touch the base Bronco it looks terrible but the upper trims and especially the Braptor look awesome. I’m hoping when this hits the market the “cool” looking one like the one they are showing here doesn’t end up being 85-90k I’ll keep positive though as my next vehicle won’t be until 2027 which will work out perfectly for this
I have to say, the styling is nice and not overdone like other "look at me!!!" EV's, price is right in today's age, presumed long-term backing by a well established manufacturer, hybrid for those who don't want a full EV...I'm more than impressed. Very, very well done y'all.
They had me at "range extender". But everything else looks great, too. Huge, heavy, expensive battery packs are not a very good solution, though is necessary for BEV until better batteries, faster charging, and more numerous chargers comes online. Yes they get one the range, but add a lot of expense and weight for those few times one needs the range. Most days, 30 - 100 miles of range is more than enough. But when towing or driving long distances or driving to remote areas, that is when more range shines. A super large battery pack will address some of those situations, but not the situation where there are no fast chargers. We live in a small city with chargers, but tow our fishing boat to a reservoir only 75 miles away, but there are no charging stations along the way or there. Same with the trailheads where we hike, bike, tow dirtbikes/ATVs and snowmobiles, etc. A range extender is a much better solution than carrying around a 200kWh battery pack. A 75 - 100KwH battery pack (for 100 - 200 miles of all battery range) and a range extender would be perfect. Until there are many more charging stations available (that work reliably and are not overcrowded) and can consistently do true DC fast charging at a rate of 100 - 200 miles of range in 10 minutes, range extenders are a good bridging solution. Someday the charging infrastructure will be there, but certainly not even close right now unless you only drive near medium or larger cities or on an Interstate corridor. Even large side highways have no chargers. I've been watching and waiting for the day I can own an EV pickup and it's still a long way off, unfortunately, unless some of the these manufacturers that say they will include a range extender actually get their pickups to market.
@@dvader3263 Agreed and much of the attractiveness of BEV, and plug in hybrids, is charging at home. For many, that will care for most of their charging. It would for my wife's vehicle and uses. But for those that live rural and recreate remote every weekend and/or tow even small trailers with driftboats, fishing boats, trailers with ATV/dirtbikes/snowmobiles etc., most BEV won't cut it because the small towns we pass on the way to the trailheads or rivers/lakes have no fast chargers and we can't make it there and back on one charge, unfortunately. This is where range extender vehicles come in. There are plenty of BEV choices out there already but not really any fullsize range extender vehicles, so this is another niche with a lot of demand. Great opportunity for manufacturers and good to see someone filling it. It will allow those that want to dip their toes into EV to experience it rather than stay away completely.
Like a lot of that. Don't need the 'upkink' in the back of the cab windows and wish the bed was 1' longer, it would be usable for my needs. Price still a bit high, given the short bed, but reasonable. Love the front bench.
Very promising first impressions I must say. It's nice to see the bench seats both front and back. I could see myself driving around in either one of these but I'd probably be gravitating toward the pickup the most. The panoramic roof is pretty nice. I like the added footstep on the side of the bed and the integrated air compressor is neat. While it sounds like a simple thing one of my favorite features of my Silverado are the in-bumper footsteps. I'd probably go for the range extended hybrid version though.
These Scouts are honestly the first electric vehicles that have me thinking about getting one. The combo of the availability of a range extender, body on frame with solid rear axle, user serviceability, and overall design is really going to make me think about the possibility of getting one when they are available.
Scout has read a lot of our minds. Finally a solid axle EV. Really like the idea of the extended range option with a gas engine. That alone fits the lifestyle of most americans as a lot of us live in apartments without charging infrastructure.
@@TangoTangoAlpha yeah but it’s not a Bronco. Put the Bronco body and retro styling on a Ranger chassis. Can’t tell me it wouldn’t sell better than the vanilla looking Ranger. I’d trade in my Trail Boss Colorado the day they hit dealers. Would have bought a Bronco but need a truck bed.
@@JSEME - I'm currently driving a Bronco BadSquatch and would definitely consider swapping for a pickup version if they ever make one. I'm also interested in a PHEV version if/when that becomes a thing... or, as of tonight, maybe a Scout Terra.
@@oliver5911 agreed. Even if I’d be very unlikely to buy a brand new Scout from a new company with a likely slim dealer network, this vehicle is a good thing. Will hopefully force some competition to the big players to do more traditional/retro styled and off-road capable vehicles when they see how well received it should be amongst enthusiasts.
If Ford did that, they will cannibalise sales from the ranger. If they priced it above the ranger, they will be competing with F150 termor & raptor products. Overall it will be a flop in sales long term.
As a former Rivian owner, this is extremely exciting. I routinely go places off road that have no charging within a reasonable distance. With a more palatable price, 500 mi potential range, and individual serviceability I'll be keeping an eye on Scout.

The rang extender for both the truck and SUV? Probably the only way I would want to own a EV is with a generator. At least for the next decade until the grid is set up and batteries alone can push 500miles

I’m reserving one of each. They look incredible!
That bench seat and body on frame with a solid axle im sold
These are great!! Will have a great success with these!! Looks, features, price all good.
80% user serviceable? Im glad to see new vehicles incorporating the right to repair. Im looking at you, too, Aptera.
Yes Aptera! I'm think this and the Aptera would be the perfect set of vehicles for me 5 yrs from now.
At that point, the other 20% is probably high voltage systems. Glad to see an EV company ditch the 'disposable electronic gadget' trend.
Love it! I yelled, "and it's got a bench seat!" The minute you looked inside and freaked out the dog and wife, lol😂. Love the look, size, specs so far... if they'd sell it with just a gas motor it would be perfect, hehe. Price...nice! (But believe it when I see it.)
My father in law drove his International Scout pickup until it fell apart. Then he converted the bed into a trailer. Which I tow with my Rivian - so I guess I already have an EV Scout pickup. 😆
They drove like you would expect a farm implement to drive on the highway and disintegrated in about 4 years.
@@kimoandrews5802 4 years? His lasted 20 years and half a million miles. As a “farm truck.”
This is so spot on, from capability to towing to self serviceability to looks…. Everything here is just pitch perfect. I’ll wait a year to see if they are glitchy, but if not, I’m buying one in 2928.
Looks impressive! I think this is better than a Rivian at first glance, we'll see how it plays out in reality.
I love scouts so i would choose this over a rivian or any other electric especially with the gas option. I was impressed by the hummer suv though once aome youtubers got to drive one in video. That was nice.
Add a tailgate that is split, or swings open for my old man back, and I'm sold. Dig it!
Bench seat 😊. The wood interior looks amazing too
Love Tommy's genuine excitement for this truck.
Wow. Finally a retro design done well!
Tommy already rockin' those Dad jeans. Borderline JNCOs. Retractable mirrors aren't crap. It prevents them from being hit.
This is one of the few electric trucks that looks like it was made by people who drive trucks for people who drive trucks.
YES!!
User serviceable, front bench, solid rear axle, front & rear lockers, great range, 10k lbs towing and body on frame!!! SOLD
Absolutely love it, but please offer a basic version for those of us who want to use it for work and are not worried about the luxuries so much.
Another competitor in the mix. This is awesome.
Good job getting this out! Thank you!
Thats a sweet looking EV Pick up .... Lookss like they put lot of thought into the utility for the pick up and the bench seats are just so cool. Very nice clean design , love it !!!!
The front bench seat is the biggest reason I ordered the cybertruck.
I'm sold on the Scout
BEAUTIFUL TRUCK
My old school Scout, 300,000 on that engine. Locking front and rear. The only thing I had to fix was the front and rear differential. The engine is solid. This new one is like a new puppy, its cute but not like the old school dog in the house
I would take your old school scout over this new pos scout any day.
BOOM That's a great all around Truck ! Well Done. Stick with 3 models with a no nonsense competitive price and steal the show ! Stunning.
Reserved! Those look awesome! Should release just in time for my Rivian lease to be up.
Placed my reservation last night for the Scout Terra with range extender. Good to hear the front is winch capable. Only problem I have, is my advanced age. Hopefully I'll be able to take delivery and enjoy this absolutely wonderful new truck. Now the wait begins.
once this hits the streets the Cybertruck is dead. Who would want a Cybertruck when you could have the Scout.
Fsd. But I'm interested in this as a work truck
This is cool but it’s coming out in 2027 for around $60K. Cybertruck prices will likely continue to come down as Tesla ramps up. I would take a Cybertruck if prices are similar because by then they will have worked out the kinks and we’ll have a better idea of it’s reliability.
Or just buy an R1T today?
Cyber all day every day
By 2027 Tesla will likely have done a massive facelift on the Cybertruck and drastically lowered the price like they've done with all their other cars. The only thing the scout has going for it is the bench seat.
The right amount of futuristic tech with the right amount of vintage looks 👌
LOVE the bench seat! Reminds me of my childhood with my dads old truck.
That bench seat is awesome. $60K sounds great but I'm guess most buyers will choose options that bring it closer to $80K or more. Very exciting though especially with the range extender option.
All car companies want us buy options. That's where the real money is for them.
Fingers crossed on pricing. Base model is usually too bare bones, and anyone remember cybertruck pricing of $40k base model in 2019?
Because the base will be base.... great trick from manufacturers
I am blown away! That truck is amazing!!
That truck is cool but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send us a single cab with 8' bed option! That would make it capable of being an actual work truck. 5.5' bed is more like a lifestyle vehicle. LOVE the bench seat
Yes! And or a 2wd Travelall version and they will have to take my money or fight me.
Single cab? What are you, divorced?!?!? Single?
Most of us have 2 humans in the household along with Pets
My Labrador alone eats 80% of the back seat. She only sits for the first 60 secs or so, then she lays down, much to my Blue Heelers' dismay.

Bench seat and serviceable is what I love most about it. Great job on the design and execution of this amazing looking truck and SUV.
That is a good looking truck. Great Job
That truck is real close to an international truck that I had as my first vehicle. I can’t wait to see what scout does with this vehicle and what accessories and old school designs
Finally!!! a truck that fits most of the use cases and looks amazing!!!! Wife is getting the SUV and I will take the truck!!
You had me at "solid rear axle"
Can not wait to see you guys get ahold of one.
Great job, Tommy. One take wonder! You crushed it!
I’m hoping when this hits the market the “cool” looking one like the one they are showing here doesn’t end up being 85-90k
I’ll keep positive though as my next vehicle won’t be until 2027 which will work out perfectly for this
Love the bench seat. It's iconic to my childhood.
THIS is how you make an EV that people will want. Love the gasoline range extender option too, takes away the adventure range anxiety.
50 weeks or more per year, for most people, the EV charger is in their garage.
Duuuuude! The bench seat is amaaaaazing!!
Like a lot of that. Don't need the 'upkink' in the back of the cab windows and wish the bed was 1' longer, it would be usable for my needs. Price still a bit high, given the short bed, but reasonable. Love the front bench.
I LOVE the integration of old school truck design inside this rocks!
It looks great, but I would never give up my R1S for it.
"trying to live out their Boeing fantasy. You can"
OK, I'm sold! ⚰️
I want this truck. Finally a company that listened to what we wanted.
I Love It!!!
These Scouts are honestly the first electric vehicles that have me thinking about getting one. The combo of the availability of a range extender, body on frame with solid rear axle, user serviceability, and overall design is really going to make me think about the possibility of getting one when they are available.
Wow wow wow 👍👍👍 I am speechless...
I’m all over this. That Terra is peak electric truck, man. Gonna be more like 80-85k at that trim level, tho
this is amazing, I had low expectations, but damn I love it! A bench front seat!!!!
Scout has read a lot of our minds. Finally a solid axle EV.
Really like the idea of the extended range option with a gas engine. That alone fits the lifestyle of most americans as a lot of us live in apartments without charging infrastructure.
I have my fathers 1968 Scout with only 26,000 miles and it has always been garaged
That's quite a collector piece these days.
OMG only 26, 000 that is awesome !
@ original paint too
I pray they stay true to this concept! So many great features
Ok Ford, you have to make a Bronco truck now. Waiting patiently.
@@JSEMEJeep tried it with the Gladiator and it seems it did not work well with sales after the initial hype cooled down.
If we're saying $60k for a truck is affordable, we've already lost the plot.
It comes with you’d expect a 60k truck to come with, and nothing has been seen on the bare minimum truck that is set to be in the low 40s

Thanks Tommy! I am super excited and just fell in Love. Might have to line it up as I transition away from the Colorado Zr2 (2.8)
I love everything about it. However, we all know how the pricing goes... Each delay in production jacks the price up for some reason. This will be $80-100k, just like the Cybertruck.

I'm interested in hearing more about the hybrid version.
I LOVE this! I put my reservation in for a Terra last night.
The rang extender for both the truck and SUV? Probably the only way I would want to own a EV is with a generator. At least for the next decade until the grid is set up and batteries alone can push 500miles
Chevy is already doing an EV truck with almost 500 mile range. The grid is very good now as i was able to drive across country in my Ford lightning with 320 mil range with not one problem charging.
@@LarryRichelli that is good to hear. I read a lot but I don't own a EV so your opinion is probably more valid than mine or the things I hear about the grid status. I do hear the term "range anxiety" often though.
